The S.T.A.R. Program™ music method is our customized lesson program that enables you to reach your musical goals and have a great time doing it. S.T.A.R. stands for:
The basis for the music learning program is that lessons are supposed to be fun and rewarding. The TakeLessons S.T.A.R. Program™ music method is designed to give you the ability to learn exactly what you want, from a safe and certified instructor, in a fun and encouraging environment.
As part of the program TakeLessons has developed a set of online tools to make it even simpler to achieve success. These allow you to log practice time, mark goals as complete, and see a summary for each lesson.
Students work directly with the instructor to set up their musical goals: What songs do they want to learn? Do they want to play in front of friends, family, or an audience of thousands?
From there, the student and instructor enter goals into the TakeLessons site. Each time the student logs in they will see these goals, the vision of their success.
Teachers work to customize their lesson plan around the student's goals, plotting the course to success. As the goals are achieved the student or teacher can check them off.
The student tracks their progress towards these goals by logging their practice times on the site in the Practice Pages. Students can see summaries of their weekly practice times, and the teacher can use these to encourage them further.
After each lesson the instructor fills out an entry in the student's Lesson Success Journal™. This covers:
Students can always refer back to these pages as a reminder of what they should be working on.
Teachers can send online stickers to their students to provide some instant postive feedback. In addition, students receive music learning awards when they hit certain milestones: certificates, hats, t-shirts, and more.
Dedicated students also have the opportunity to participate in local Show What You Know Concerts™. These are celebrations of what our students have learned, and they love spending a few minutes in the spotlight in front of fellow TakeLessons students, parents, and instructors.
