Julian has always been a creative and diverse musician, breaking down the distinctive barriers among different genres of music. He received his training both at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and from the Cleveland Institute of Music, from which he recently received his Masters in Music Performance. Though his training has been largely classical, he also has interests in jazz, fiddle, Latin, hip-hop, electronic and many other styles of music. In 2006, he became one of the core members of the eclectic hip-hop band, The Off Button, an elegant fusion of upright bass, banjo, violin, percussion, vocals, and rap artists. Since then, he has also performed with a large number of ensembles and bands, including the Meadows Symphony Orchestra at Southern Methodist University, the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, and numerous chamber music ensembles. I have a Master's Degree in Viola performance from the University of Akron. I have won the Tuesday Musical State wide competition for stringed instruments in 2009 for EJ Thomas Hall. I was awarded String Student of the year in my undergraduate studies at the University of Akron in which I received a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance. I also have performed with the Ohio Light Opera, Transiberian Orchestra, Ashland Symphony. I attended the Mark O'Connor Strings Fiddle camp in Tennessee and Meadowmount School of Music in New York. I also play at my church with the Gospel Choir, which is a lot of fun! I am also in a band where I fiddle at a pub in downtown Akron once a month.
Teaching is my passion and I enjoy working with students who are eager to learn. I am very strict with proper technique that will benefit the students ability to play well with good intonation and musicality. This will give the student the ability to play any genre of music they choose.
