I've appeared on records with dozens of NYC area rock and pop bands, and perform as a classical and jazz trombonist in all five boroughs and New Jersey.
I listen to and play all kinds of music from Beethoven to Stravinsky, Arcade Fire to Beyonce, James Brown to Snoop Dogg/Lion. I have had the pleasure to share the stage with rockers Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), and Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), and jazz greats Maynard Ferguson, Jimmie Lunceford, Conrad Herwig, "Blue" Lou Marini, and Jeff Coffin (Flecktones).
I've played acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, trombone, tuba, French horn, violin, cello, and string bass in virtually all different styles. Some of my favorite recent projects have been:
-Quilty (Pavement-style hard rock band)
-The Nevermind Orchestra (brass band that covers Nirvana tunes; I play trombone)
-Chill Sons (my own band for which I write songs, play guitar, and sing)
-Manhattan Symphonie (an entertaining symphony orchestra featuring soloists on piano, violin, saw, urdu, and tap shoes)
I received a BM in trombone from University of North Texas, an MM in brass pedagogy from Ohio University, and am currently a DMA student in bass trombone at Rutgers University.
It is a treat to share music with others, and my lessons are fun, challenging, and engaging.
Thanks for stopping by to look at my profile! Let's hang out and do music things.

I currently play trombone with the West Point Concert Band and am also an active freelance trombonist and euphoniumist in the New York, tri-state area. On any given day I could be performing various genres of music including orchestral, jazz, chamber, rock, funk and hip-hop/R&B. My career has led me to perform with various ensembles in prestigious halls around the country such as Carnegie Hall, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA. Working as a musician has also given me the opportunity to travel the world as a performer. Most recently I went on tour throughout China with the Manhattan Symphonie this past December.
In addition to my career as a performer, I am an active educator. I teach private lessons as well as conducting master classes for groups in schools. In the past past I have worked as a teaching artist for the Phil Ramone Orchestra for Children, where I taught group trombone and music theory lessons.
I fell in love with music at the age of five when I began taking piano lessons. I began studying trombone and Euphonium at the age of 10. In 2002 I was accepted to the University of Michigan as a double major in trombone and euphonium performance where I studied with David Jackson and Fritz Kaenzig. I graduated from the Manhattan School of music in 2010 where I received my masters in trombone performance, studying with Stephen Norrell.
I have been teaching private trombone, euphonium, and tuba lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, as well as piano lessons at the beginner level for eight years. I look forward to working with you to help develop your own special musical voice. With my experience as a teacher and performer, I have confidence that I can help you achieve your personal musical goals, whether you are just starting out, trying to pursue music as a career, and everything in between. I have been lucky to have studied with many great teachers throughout my life and am excited to share all the knowledge I have gained from them with you.

Hello! I'm a professional low brass performer working in the New York City Tri-State Area. As a freelancer, I have to play in many different musical situations, and do so while sounding like I work in that situation every day. I have the expertise to help you learn a wide variety of styles, and I love working with enthusiastic and hard-working students!
I moved from Minnesota to attend the New School Jazz Program, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2005. I then attended Brooklyn College to become a NYS certified music teacher, and taught in middle and high schools for 5 years before embarking on my freelance career. During college and my teaching years, I taught private students from age 5 - 85, all sharing one thing - a love for music!
In addition to teaching the low brass family, I can also teach trumpet and piano. I have worked as a pianist with the band "The Sharp Things," and have years of students under my belt. I can also teach a wide variety of performance topics (overcoming stage fright, improvisation, interpretation, and other performance topics), as well as music theory.
Bass Guitar, Guitar, Piano, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba
With a Bachelors degree in music performance from Manhattan School of Music and over 4 years of private teaching experience I will be able to pass along my skills and experience as a freelance musician in New York City. My musical training in NYC began at The Juilliard Pre-College program and led me to perform at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Bowl, Joe's Pub, Le Poisson Rouge and 92Y Tribeca. While my formal training is in classical music, I'm well versed in Jazz, Rock, Funk, Electronic and Contemporary music styles. I currently play trumpet in "Pitchblak Brass Band", a 10-piece hip hop brass based in Brooklyn, as well as guitar in experimental pop group "Air for Ants" and electric bass in progressive funk trio "The Phryg". I am able to give insight from my conservatory classical training as well as through my frequent performances in rock clubs throughout the Northeast.
Bass Guitar, Drum, Guitar, Piano, Violin, Cello, Clarinet, Classical Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Flute, Mandolin, Music Performance, Music Theory, Oboe, Saxophone, Songwriting, Trumpet, Ukulele, Accordion, Fiddle, Harmonica, Trombone, Tuba, Upright Bass, Viola
I am a multi-instrumentalist who has taught for 41 years. I have had both Zakke Wilde and Dave Sabo of Skid Row in lessons, as well as countless music school scholarship students. Many of my students have embarked on performing careers as well as teaching at the school and college level. The lessons are laid back, friendly and above all- helpful. We will study and work on the music of your choice, but, with a slight twist from the traditional, that I incorporate not just playing the song, but to get you the student ready to be able to work out the songs harmony, theory, notation and phrasing on your own. I feel this must be done in order to get a student to be able to perform with others. Lessons should always be about instructing a student to know and utilize every musical concept so that they will be able to perform with others.
