I graduated from Ithaca College a B.M. in music performance specializing in classical guitar. I've been living in Brooklyn for the past couple of years and been playing a multitude of bands as well as teacher guitar, piano, and bass. I enjoy bluegrass, soul, pop, and Top 40 hits.

I have been teaching guitar for over a decade and love doing it. Before we get into how you can succeed as a guitarist here is a little background about me. I grew up in a small town and began playing guitar at age 12. I was taught a few chords from friends and tried to learn songs from tabs on the Internet. After a couple years I realized the need for formal training, so I began taking classical guitar lessons. I was introduced to formal music instruction and my abilities really blossomed. I became enamored with the guitar, and music as a whole, and decided to pursue music as a profession. I attended University of Colorado at Denver and received a Bachelors in Jazz Guitar performance.

Tom graduated from Tufts University in Boston with a B.A. in Music. During this time he studied and performed recitals in both classical and jazz guitar styles, composed original guitar music, and participated in jazz and classical music performance ensembles. After Tufts he continued his training in music education with courses at the Hartt School of Music and Central Connecticut State University.

With all of his students, regardless of age or ability, the emphasis is placed on technique, since it is the foundation for tackling increasingly challenging pieces of music. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to a music-loving family, I began playing piano and guitar at a very young age. At age twelve, I began playing double bass, which has become my primary instrument. Throughout middle and high school, I received numerous awards for excellence in both jazz and classical music. After high school, I moved to the Oklahoma City area and had the opportunity to play with many of the great musicians who passed through, including Jon Faddis, Wynton Marsalis, Byron Stripling, and Anne Hampton Calloway.

Since moving to New York City in 2002, I have been fortunate enough to travel throughout the US, Canada, Caribbean, and Europe with such groups as Pete Robbins and Centric, Ryan Blotnick's Secret Mainstream, and The Paislies. Teaching music is my passion, it is more than just a career. I value each student and the time I have with them; to help them explore the world of music. I have taugh all ages, and all elvels, and all styles. I play a number of instruments including piano, guitar, bass, violin, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica, in addition to writing and singing. I took private lessons for over 10 years, and also studied music in both high school and college.

I started playing guitar at age 11, taking lessons at the local music studio in Hackensack, NJ.
