I've been playing sax for 16 years now with a focus on blues and rock. My strength is TONE! Getting a strong sound so the world can hear your music! I play tenor mainly but also play alto and soprano.
I am a working multi instrumentalist here in Brooklyn, New York. I've played guitar and bass for 33 years now and have been playing saxophone now for that last 16 1/2 of those lovely years. Most of my gigs are saxophone gigs now and I love that though I do love to play my strings too! I'm largely self taught though have had the good fortune to study with some terrific players including Tim Price. I have a lot to offer a beginning student and my focus is on improvisation be it blues, jazz, rock n roll or whatever freaky style you can dream up! My approach is relaxed, fun and supportive. We'll laugh a lot while we play our horns together! Fun is essential to music and life, that's the vibe!!!
My goal as a teacher is to provide an in depth understanding of the instrument to my students. Whether we are learning technique specific to the instrument or general musical concepts, it is important to me that I take the time to insure that my students not only learn how to do something, but also the reasons why we are learning a specific concept or technique. At the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to teach you how to teach yourself, so that you may enjoy playing the instrument outside of our lessons together.

Some of my students are children and adolescents who are looking to pursue music when they go to college or auditioning for state and regional band programs. Many of my students are very busy adults who are either looking to pick up an instrument for the first time as an ...

Lessons are adjusted to the goals we set together with you. Its not about the amount of time you have to practice every day, its all about quality of the time spent practicing and of course continuity. Based on these two premises positive results can be almost guaranteed, no matter talent or age !
Depending on the instrument and body built starting age may vary. For flute and clarinet around nine years old, both male and females. For saxophone, again based on body built, starting age would be around ten/eleven years old.
