I am an extremely successful voice and music teacher, music director, and professional singer with openings for new private students.
I have over 15 years experience teaching voice, music theory, and sight reading privately; directing musical ensembles; and performing professionally in OPERA, MUSICAL THEATRE and MANY other styles of music.

I help my students find their unique, beautiful voices so they can let it out with confidence.
Lessons are fun, creative and 100% interactive. You will learn to sing with more accuracy, confidence and strength. I teach a vocal technique that builds, strengthens, and improves your unique, natural voice.
I also teach and tutor beginner piano, sight singing, ear training, and music theory.
All lessons are available for:
- Male and Female Students 10 years old and older;
- Adult Men and Women 18 and older.
Lessons are taught in the music room at my home in West Hartford, Connecticut, in your home (if you have a keyboard), or online via Skype or Facetime.

Rachel holds a Master of Music, M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor of Music, B.M., from San Jose State University. She recently re-located from St. Louis, Missouri to the Hartford area. While in Missouri, she served as an Adjunct Voice Instructor/Lecture Professor at East Central College, a Private Voice and Music Instructor at St. John's School of the Arts and opened a private voice studio through Takelessons.com. In addition to her teaching experience in the Missouri area, Rachel was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado where she was an assistant instructor for Music Survey and Music and World Cultures classes. She also privately tutored students in Music Theory, Music History, Vocal Diction and Sight-Singing.
Rachel is an active performer of opera, oratorio, musical theater, chamber and choral music. Most recently, she was featured as a Young Artist with Winter Opera St. Louis. During the 2012 season, she performed the role of Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos, was a featured soloist and member of the ensemble in the Rogers and Hammerstein Broadway Review: A Grand Night for Singing, covered Musetta in La Boheme with Winter Opera St. Louis and performed opera scenes from Die Zauberflote and Der Rosenkavalier with the Druid City Opera Workshop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Rachel also appeared as the soprano soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria with the Southeast Missouri Chamber Ensemble and as the Widow in Mendelssohn's Elijah with the East Central Choral Association. In 2011, she had the pleasure of covering Lola and appearing in the chorus of Cavalleria Rusticana with both Winter Opera St. Louis in March and during the reprise of the production at the Southern Illinois Music Festival in June. She also sang in the chorus of La Traviata with Winter Opera St. Louis and performed as principal soprano with the internationally recognized St. Louis Symphony Chorus. While a member of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, Rachel sung under the baton of such esteemed conductors as David Robertson, Claudio Abbado, Robert Spano and Nicolas McGegan.
While completing her Master of Music at the University of Northern Colorado, Rachel was seen as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel at the Union Colony Civic Center, Fanny in Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in concert with the UNC Symphony and Beauty in Richard Faith's opera Beauty and the Beast in which she had the pleasure of personally working with the composer. After her graduation from UNC, she performed the roles of Giannetta in L'Elisir d'Amore with Loveland Opera Theater, The Lady Ella in Patience with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company and sang as a soloist for numerous concert engagements with the Greeley Chorale.
During the summer of 2007, Rachel was selected to be a touring artist with Opera Classica Europa based in Bad Schwalbach, Germany. During her travels with the company she sang in the chorus of Otello, Madame Butterfly, Tosca and as a soloist in multiple concerts and masterclasses throughout Germany and Spain. Rachel has also performed with Union Avenue Opera, Opera Fort Collins, the Opera Fort Collins Guild Arias@Avos Young Artists Concert Series, Trinity Lyric Opera, Townsend Opera Players, the Songfest Young Artists Program in Malibu, California and the Johanna Meier Opera Theater Institute in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Rachel has been a recipient of the Bev Sellars Young Singer Foundation Memorial Scholarship, Joe Tennsessen PVA Scholarship, Mu Phi Epsilon Scholarship, a four time recipient of the Manlio Silva Young Artists Scholarship awarded by the Stockton Symphony, a finalist in the Angie Southard Chamber Music Competition and was a winner of both the Kristina Townsend Memorial Vocal Competition and the Stockton Opera Guild Vocal Competition, respectively. Rachel is pleased to be joining the Takelessons team in Hartford, Connecticut.
