Coming from a beginner-level guitar player who has previously taken guitar courses, Andrew's definitely extremely talented and, equally importantly, very insightful and understanding when it comes to teaching. He is patient, smart, draws good examples for understanding concepts, and is enjoyable to play alongside with.

andrew is a great teacher

i've been taking bass lessons from andrew for several years and have nothing but great things to say about his teaching abilities. he is organized yet flexible, allowing you to take the lessons the direction you want to take it. he can really connect to the way you think and channel that to advance your skills. my only complaint i don't see him enough, but that's my fault.

Great Instructor

Andrew went above and beyond what I ever expected. He did a great job of covering rudiments and technical aspects, while simultaneously focusing on the "art" of bass playing. He was very aware of my skill level and responsive to my needs as a student. I highly recommend him for beginners and imagine that he would be great for more skilled students as well

About Nero

I have been teaching music for 16 years. I grew up on the 2nd floor of my father's music store in Central PA and have been around music my whole life. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of the Arts where I studied jazz guitar with Pat Martino, Jimmy Bruno, Steve Giordano, and Tom Giacabetti. I was one of the original teachers during the formative years at the Paul Green School of Rock Music where I later went on to be the Music Director of the Philadelphia and Downingtown Schools. During that time, I helped many students prepare and get accepted to music schools, ran and developed music summer camps, and organized concerts where the students performed the music of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and many more of rock's finest band at every ...

Mandolin Lessons

I recently started playing mandolin on my own - and decided to take lessons to make sure that my technique was correct. -- All I can say is that Nero is the best music teacher I have ever had - not to mention, a gifted musician. He makes learning fun, and his approach and patience allows you to easily pick up new techniques and skills. I hope to take lessons with Nero for a long time!!!!

My first Flamenco Guitar lesson

Had my first lesson with Nero. Nero was very patient and the lesson progressed at a comfortable pace. He didn't bombard me with too much information yet identified learning moments at relevant times during the session that increased the value of our time. I played clarinet for about 6 years over 17 years ago and haven't touched a musical instrument since so I feel like a beginner... He was sensitive to my inexperience and led with the session with a relaxing demeanor.

Victoria W. Philadelphia, PA

I've been teaching songwriting for 4 years. I tailor lesson plans to help each individual student reach his or her goals. I believe songwriting can take a number of different forms and can be accomplished through a variety of techniques and environments. I will instruct based on my experience, but I will also work with students to develop the method(s) that work best for him or her.

About Victoria

My name is Victoria. I'm originally from beautiful San Diego, California, and I began my musical journey at age twelve while still back west. I received private instruction on guitar from a professional guitarist who focused on technique and classical playing. About a year later, I began playing guitar and bass in groups that ranged from church ensembles to rock bands, and even spent two years playing in an orchestra. I've instructed nearly 30 students (of varying ages) on both bass and guitar while serving as a music director at two churches and serving as a student music director at Point Loma Nazarene University. I also received a certification through The Contemporary Music Center, now located in Nashville. Here, I acquired further skills in live performance, studio work, ...

I have a lot of fun taking lessons with Victoria. She tailors each lesson to meet my interests and skill level. She was able to immediately identify the areas I need the most improvement and I have already progressed in these areas after only a few lessons.

Wonderful personality, skill and insight

I just wanted to pop in and say how happy I am to be learning guitar. At 51 some may hesitate, but I promise you it's still possible. If you have a love and a want to learn, you can make it happen. Victoria has been wonderful. She's always helpful and supportive and tailors her lessons towards what direction I want to go with my music. She's always smiling and makes lessons fun, the time passes way too quick. So if you are wanting to learn an instrument, then go out there and do it. Maybe if you are lucky and in the Philadelphia area, you'll be able to get Victoria to teach you as well.

Learn the basics of music theory which allow us to create and ourselves musically. Learn about harmony, melody, rhythm and structure (form) of music in order to use the knowledge to compose your own music.

About Michael

Michael C. was eleven years old when he began to play the electric bass guitar. He decided to get an electric bass because it was the one instrument needed to start a band among his friends. In addition to playing the electric bass, Michael enjoyed time practicing on the guitar and piano in high school. Transferring the knowledge and finger technique to the guitar came easy because of the similarities between guitar and the bass. And growing up with an upright piano in the house always lead to tinkering and eventually became a proficiency after college. In 1996 Michael enrolled at the the Philadelphia University of the Arts. He was awarded a presidential merit scholarship and a university grant based on his entrance audition. During his studies Michael was recruited for a student ...

I have a lot of experience writing lyrics/poetry and composing tunes, suites and songs, most of which I have performed live and recorded. With the help of the piano, voice and/or any instrument you feel comfortable with, I can help guide your create ideas into making your very own original songs.

I have recently graduated with a B.M. in Music Education, Jazz Studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Aside from performing in the academic setting, I also perform with my own groups, and have composed original compositions in the jazz, classical and pop idiom.

I've been taking saxophone lessons from Maria for almost two months now (I was a total beginner). Maria not only plays the Sax beautifully, she is also able to teach her skills to me in an extremely easy-to-follow fashion. Every lesson with her, not only my skills had improved, it was also such a pleasant experience. With her help, I went from being able to practice 15 mins/ day, to an hour everyday, which mostly due to her innovative teaching techniques to make practice not so boring. She is professional and talented. Every time I play a duet with her (I've been doing this since lesson 2, also Maria's idea) my interest for the Sax just got deeper. In short, she is a great teacher and a wonderful friend, and I am really really luck to have found her as my first Sax teacher.
