About Me

I have been playing guitar, writing songs and studying music for over 18 years. In 2003, I graduated from Boston College with a degree in Music composition and theory. While living in Nashville (2003-2012), I worked with Music Row songwriters, publishers and studio musicians. I have also produced records for independent artists and currently write music for TV, radio and films. I got married in 2012, moved to Fort Worth, TX and shortly thereafter began teaching. In 2014, my wife and I moved back to Middle TN. I love to teach and work with students who want to learn. Basically, I like to make music and have fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I start working with new students by setting goals. It doesn't matter if a student is a complete beginner or already an advanced player. My philosophy is to have fun and make music. Ultimately, my goal is for the student to be able to "jam" with other musicians. I picked up the guitar at age thirteen because I was inspired by Nirvana. I was quickly turned on to Jimi Hendrix, which eventually led to me discovering jazz, classical music, songwriting and eventually bluegrass. Music is a vast world and I believe in teaching songs that the student wants to play. So I start by working on songs that are of interest to each individual student.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in my home studio. I utilize the studio to record music for commercials and various other projects. Seating available. No pets. Bass and electric guitar amplifiers, keyboard, ukulele, banjo, fiddle, microphones and assortment of audio equipment for recording.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a guitar tuner and learning materials (i.e. music sheets and learning material). I expect the student to have a guitar and guitar strings for him or her to learn. I also advise an amplifier for electric guitar students.

*** Specialties ***
On Guitar: Acoustic & Electric guitar, Rock n' Roll, Blues, Jazz, Improvisation, Merle Travis chicken pickin', slide guitar and music theory. In the world of audio recording, I am well versed in digital recording platforms (DAWs) such as Pro Tools and Logic. I operate Logic from my home studio to write and record music for TV, radio and film.

About Me

I began piano lessons at age 6. At age 9 my mom allowed me to take guitar lessons provided I continued with piano. By 12 it was just me and the six-string.

The first time I learned how to play guitar with one hand was from a hippie guitarist who sewed colored patches into his leather pants. One week’s lesson when I was 13 consisted of going into the teaching room, pressing play on the VCR and watching a video of Stevie Ray Vaughn live. That changed everything for me.

I founded various bands in my hometown and started teaching guitar lessons when I was 17. I taught all styles, ages, and levels. After high school I received training in jazz guitar theory and performance at the Player’s School of Music in Clearwater, Florida and later studied guitar theory under a jazz guitar guru in Portland, OR.

After acquiring a business degree from Central Washington University and working a few years in global logistics I left the United States for missionary work and held several odd jobs including being a chauffeur, milking cows, and of course; teaching guitar lessons. While overseas I started a Guitar Club in the Maori village of Waharoa, NZ, performed for troops at Yokota U.S. Air Force Base in Fussa, Japan, and recorded music in Auckland, NZ for a YWAM compilation album.

Upon returning stateside I worked on a salmon fishing tender in the Bering Sea, and the skipper, a retired Nashville songwriter encouraged me to make the move to music city.

Since moving here I've recorded the Genrelicious EP, released several singles including 'Just Friends' and 'Blood on the Floor', (the latter for which I also released an official music video).

Currently I play for and write with several Nashville artists, play every second Saturday at Merridee's in Franklin, TN, and headline my 'Genrelicious Showcase' in various cities featuring artists of all styles and backgrounds.

*** Lesson Details ***
In the first lesson we will determine your current level, establish your desired goals, and then formulate a plan to get to where you want to go with guitar. There is one specific book that I use for almost all students which covers a broad spectrum of styles at all levels, and the rest of the material will vary depending on the goals we establish in the beginning, and your individual learning style.

I like to root a very solid foundation in basic music principles early on and then expand from there as this allows you to go as far as you desire with guitar music.

And while I don't employ the teaching method I do dig that old Suzuki philosophy, "Only practice on the days you eat."

*** Studio Equipment ***
Acoustic Guitars, Electric Guitars, Amps, Keyboard, Music Stands, Chairs, oh my!

*** Specialties ***
Acoustic, Electric, Rhythm, Lead, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country; CAGED Method, Modal Theory

Logan C. Nashville, TN

About Me

I am a music lover, educator, and songwriter. I have been playing music since I was very young and it has consistently brought joy into my life. I have been teaching since 2007, specifically to share the joy i find in music. I teach because I think everyone is capable of making great music, and I want to help you figure out how.
I grew up in California and have toured extensively throughout the western US. I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I earned my degree in Guitar Performance in 3 years. Since then I've been teaching, writing, and playing non stop.

*** Lesson Details ***
My Students get a very individualized experience. I want to help you play the music you love or want to create. We start playing songs as soon as possible, because it provides a context for instrument fundamentals and music theory. I'm not particularly strict, but in order to be successful a student must put forth an earnest effort.
Within a few weeks of starting lessons, my students will be able to play some of their favorite songs, as well as understand the musical concepts the song was written with. Further down the road, my students will have a firm grasp on music theory and will have all the necessary skills to write their own music, be in a band, or simply play music with a deep love and understanding for it.

*** Studio Equipment ***
All Necessary 2 Guitar Amplifiers, Bass Amplifier. Students only need to bring their instrument, materials, and something to write with. Newly added 88 key weighted keyboard for piano.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Piano Students must have a piano in house. I can and will provide all other equipment. I prefer for guitar and bass students to have their own amplifiers.
Students are responsible for their own instructional materials.

*** Specialties ***
I love Jazz/Rock/Blues and country. I am classically trained as well. Metal is not my specialty but I CAN teach/play it.

About Me

I am a Nashville session musician, sideman and music teacher. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music with a Composition and Arranging Emphasis from Belmont University and I am currently pursuing a Masters in Music at MTSU. Coming from a family of Classical and Jazz musicians, I have been exposed to music my whole life. Over the years I have had the opportunity to play and record with many great bands and artists ranging from Country/Bluegrass to Rock to Jazz. I teach all genres of guitar, bass, banjo ukulele and mandolin.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe the ability to play an instrument is only part of musicianship. I also strive to teach my students the theory behind the music they learn. I work hard to make sure that my students are doing everything in the easiest way possible. I want to ensure that they are able to progress quickly enough so that they can see the difference. The most rewarding moment as a teacher is when a student points out how hard something once was and how easy it has become.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music store environment. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I travel with all teaching equipment needed but a music stand is recommended for the lessons and for practicing.

*** Specialties ***
I am a very versatile teacher and player but I am often recommended based on my knowledge of Gypsy Jazz, Swing, bluegrass, country and rock teaching acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele

Georgia E. Nashville, TN

About Me

Hi! My name is Georgia E. I have been teaching private lessons for the past five years in Boston, and have recently relocated to Nashville. I went to Berklee College of Music with a degree in Songwriting and teach voice, guitar, bass, music theory, and songwriting. I have enjoyed watching my young students go from beginners to advanced musicians in their age groups, write songs, and thrive in performances.
I believe in exploration as a road to mastery, and as such, much of my lessons revolve around age and skill appropriate projects that I coach the students through. These have included all-original albums, recordings of covers, recitals, and student-planned concerts.
My approach is to empower young students, and show them the joy and focus that goes into making music.
