I am a laid back person that believes in the philosophy of "Learn by doing". To me mistakes are not to be shunned but are to be reflected upon in order to improve and develop.

Students will learn to be patient when playing music as all things take time. Rome was not built in a day. My students will learn to be versatile musicians with knowledge in theory and musicianship.

After spending time with me students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of music theory and be capable of sight reading basic material. More advanced students will be able to improvise using scales and be able to master the fundamentals of their instrument or their voice.

About Me

Miles is a Southern California-based trumpet player and educator. Miles is currently a member of the American Youth Symphony, a premier training ensemble based in Los Angeles. He is also attending Cal State University Fullerton, pursuing his Master of Music in Trumpet Performance and studying under Barry Perkins, Principal Trumpet of the Pacific Symphony. He graduated from the University of Redlands in 2011 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance where he studied with his mentor Dr. David Scott.

As a performer, Miles is at home playing in all genres and ensembles, from the back of an orchestra, in a brass ensemble or solo performance, to commercial and lead work in a big band or in the studio. From 2011 – 2013, he played lead trumpet for Carnival Cruise Lines in numerous showbands performing for their full-scale production shows and live sets. He was a member of the University of Redlands Faculty Brass Quintet and is a frequent section player with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra, Riverside Philharmonic, and San Bernardino Symphony. He has also been heard in many other ensembles throughout the Inland Empire. He is a member of AFM Local 47 and teaches privately or in group settings to all ages.

As an educator, Miles is energetic and keeps lessons positive, varied, and always with a goal in mind. There is a constant emphasis on building fundamentals and using those as a foundation for making great music. Not everyone learns the same way so it is his aim to be adaptable to whatever the you need to understand and process the concepts behind good trumpet playing. He has taught all ages and skill levels and can be a valuable asset in helping you achieve your musical pursuits.

*** Lesson Details ***
Miles has taught all ages, ranging from fourth graders to retirees, and all skill levels from beginners to those preparing for college auditions.
