Diego B. Phoenix, AZ

Mexican Nationality, lived 1/2 my life in Mexico City and Yucatan

About Diego

Hi, there! My name is Diego and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2010 in Mexico, and have loved helping my students get to know the basics of the skill or activity they're pursuing. I find out what inspires them to learn about such activity, and let them learn how to love and master it in the way and pace that is optimal for their success. I'm currently in college and will be attending ASU this coming semester, and have learned my skills throughout school (Mira Costa College in San Diego, CA) and hobbies (rugby, drumming in a couple bands, playing sports throughout high school). I'm a patient and enthusiastic person and my teaching style is rudimentary, repetitive, and fun for everyone. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Daniel N. Tempe, AZ

I began studying Spanish at a very young age. I traveled to Spain and Chile several times for study abroad and linguistic development. I've studied Spanish throughout the years and had few problems in my classes. I can have conversations and ask for clarification in Spanish, but I am not fluent. I am very reliable academically for classes up to Spanish 202. I prefer to work with little translation and lots of definitions, movement, pictures, videos, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, etc.

About Daniel

I go by Dan; I'm soon to graduate from ASU with my BA in Anthropology and a certificate to teach English to speakers of other languages. I'm available to tutor beginning/basic anthropology (such as the 100-level in college/university), English as a second language, or beginning/intermediate Spanish (anything up to, but not including, the 300 level in college/university). I've been studying anthropology since the beginning of my higher education at the community college in 2009. I've spent a month in Spain every summer for the past three years, once for a study abroad program and twice for personal linguistic development. I was awarded a grant to study Romanian for a month in Romania. I've taken many classes regarding English as a second language, such as the history of, methods, ...

Patricia T. Tempe, AZ

My mother tongue, I always practice spanish at home. I have also taught spanish for 3 years.

About Patricia

My name is Patricia Teran, I am a student at Arizona State University. My major is biological sciences and I am a junior. My goal in life is to be a physician and help people in need. I find it really rewarding to help others, such as tutoring them. I have always worked as a tutor. My first job was as an online tutor for a company called Verbling.com. I helped students from different countries, they learned and practice English and Spanish. Tutoring fulfills me and helps me academically. I am a very outgoing person and I find it easy to tutor others. If I ever encounter a difficulty tutoring someone, I find a method that suits best to their learning process. Everyone learns in different ways and there are ways to determine those methods.

David S. Phoenix, AZ

TakeLessons would technically be my first real attempt at teaching Spanish, but I was always the teachers' "go to" if they needed extra help in class.

I plan to teach my students by first making sure they are efficient in basic nouns, verbs and adjectives. As well as daily use language.

Once we are at the point where I can carry on my whole lesson in Spanish, I will teach inquisitive language so that the students can begin to know what questions to ask in order to learn more efficiently

About David

Hello! My name is David Saenz. I first began formally tutoring students about a year ago. I did it for an internship through my University Service Learning class at ASU. I tutored grade school children in their basic subjects (Math, Reading, Writing). I loved helping students really learn to enjoy learning. That feeling is what inspired me to teach others Spanish. I was born here in Phoenix, and spent all of my Summers and holidays with my family in Sinaloa, Mexico. Spanish has always been the language I associate with home. I have been speaking it for as long as I can remember. In addition, I also took formal Spanish classes from kindergarten through high school. This really gave me the technical knowledge of the language, as well as exposure to different variations of it from around ...

Jesse B. Glendale, AZ

Whatever your goals are are my goals: If all you are looking for is being able to pick up some quick phrases to get around on vacation or talk to some people you work with, that is easily doable. If you're already comfortable with the basics and are wanting to actually understand how the language is put together, focusing more on verb conjugation, sentence structure, grammar, etc. no problem. Or if you're just wanting to practice your listening and speaking skills, consider it done!

About Jesse

I grew up in a family where my grandparents spoke Spanish, yet was never taught myself, so when I was able to begin studying the language in high school, I was pretty excited! I excelled in it throughout high school, eventually being part of the Spanish Honor Society. My passion for the language led me to choose to become a high school teacher of the same subject. Even though I only needed 24 credits in the language, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with 32 credits, picking up the extra classes in a semester-long study abroad program in Querétaro, México. After taking some random adventures and work experiences throughout the U.S. México, Costa Rica, and Canada, II taught full-time for a year, but decided I wanted to keep traveling. So, here I am!
