Cory P. Pittsburgh, PA

About Cory

I grew up around Atlanta, GA and started playing piano when I was around 7 years old and bass when I was 11. Most of my education has been on the upright bass. I've studied classical bass performance at major music schools on the east coast and in the midwest. I've studied and worked with musicians from many of the great orchestras around the world.

I enjoy working with students who are just coming to the bass or piano for the first time and getting them started with music in a rewarding way as well as more advanced students that need finer musical direction or audition coaching.

Great piano teacher

Cory was willing to take on the challenge of teaching my 4 year old daughter piano. She has now been in lessons for 1 year and is doing far better than I had imagined she would be doing at this point. She is already reading music, playing with both hands at the same time, and playing chords. Cory is very patient and kind and my daughter really enjoys taking lessons with him.

About Andy

Learn from an Internationally recognized musician! In 2008 I set two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS for continuous guitar playing. I've performed at nearly every important music venue in Pittsburgh, notably: Heinz Hall, Heinz Field, the (old) Syria Mosque, The Electric Banana, Nick's Fat City, Graffiti, the Decade, the Hard Rock Café (Pittsburgh) and Stage AE.

Since starting classical piano at age 5, trumpet, french horn and bass have all been primary instruments for at least several years, but the guitar has remained since age 10. I have developed an extensive and well-rounded set of sensibilities from performing jazz, blues and rock bands, bell choirs, marching bands, orchestras and musicals.

Along with decades of experience in music performance, education, ...

Gerra B. Pittsburgh, PA

I've been playing bass for 25 years, and I'm excited to start sharing my passion for the bass with students. I will tailor your lesson to the skills you want to learn: basic hand/finger placement; basic scales and notes on the neck; hand and finger placement and finger exercises for greater dexterity; finger playing vs picking; slapping and popping; intro to music theory; how to write bass lines; playing by ear; how to sing and play at the same time, or whatever else you desire. Let's rock!

About Gerra

I have a PhD in Biochemistry and have worked as a professor and tutor for many years. I've taught a range of science, math, and writing. Additionally, I have tutored and taught learners of all ages, and specialize in helping students to become better self-teachers such that they no longer need tutoring. I've had success with some students in as few as one session - sometimes students just have a mental block that they can't recognize until it's pointed out. While I have never formally taught bass guitar, I have been playing bass guitar for 25 years, am currently a lead singer/bassist of a rock group and have taught friends.
