I currently have a studio of 20+ students and I hold optional recitals twice a year. The recitals feature students as soloists, in duets, or solo with piano accompaniment. I also like my students to practice playing together and performing for each other at our recitals or performance classes.

In 2011, I graduated with my Bachelor's of Music in Performance Violin and Viola from the Cole Conservatory of Music at the California State University, Long Beach where I also studied conducting, music theory & history, and piano.

I have been teaching the violin privately for over 12 years. I have taught the violins at Serrano Middle School and Woodbridge High School.

I job shadowed other private violin instructors when I was in high school. I also went to a 12 week teaching seminar called, "In Search of: A Guide to Violin Excellence."

EDUCATION

My musical education began while sitting on my mother's lap as she taught piano lessons. I began studying cello with a member of the Kansas City Philharmonic at age 9, and at age ten, I followed in my mother's footsteps to play the flute. I played all three instruments, (piano, cello and flute) until high school when it was became clear to me that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher. With this dream in mind, I began playing the violin as well.
I graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's in Music Education in 1989 and again in 1999 with a Master's degree.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

As a youngster, I was the youngest member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony and the Kansas City Cello Choir performing with these two groups for eight years. I was chosen from applicants nation wide, to perform in Carnegie Hall and travel Europe with "America's Youth in Concert" and I was a three time All-Stater.

I have been teaching privately for over ten years with former students having moved on to study at the college level. My past teaching positions include Northwestern University (as instructor of Viola for non-music majors as well as the pre-college string academy), Salvation Army's Pioneer School of Music, and Mosaic School of Music.

I hold a Master of Music from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music from Chapman University. Additional summer studies took place at the prestigious Aspen Music Festival. My teachers have included such legendary pedagogues as Roland Vamos, James Dunham, Jeffrey Irvine, and Robert Becker. Earlier studies were with William Fitzpatrick and Stephanie Wan.

My two greatest passions are music and teaching, so teaching music comes very naturally to me. I am classically trained musician, having played violin for 18 years, viola for 10 years, piano for 8 years, guitar for 3 years and singing for as long as I can remember. I currently sing with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and other notable choirs in the Los Angeles area, while maintaining a humble studio of music students. In addition to experience as a performer of both opera and musical theater, I write and record my own music in a variety of genres (mainly blues/folk/soul). When I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with a nodule (a polyp of tissue on the vocal cords that prevents them from closing completely, caused by vocal strain) and have trained it away simply by learning to sing correctly. Having passed through this experience I am very aware of vocal health, and emphasize it with all my students.

Armen M. was born in Armenia, and began playing the violin at the age of seven. From thereon out, Armen received his B.A.and M.A. degrees from Yerevan State Conservatory in Armenia and Artist diploma from Longy school of Music in Cambridge MA. With an impressive background, awards, and distinctions, Armen M. has always been a distinguished violinist, musician and concertmaster.

His history of performances with some of the greatest names and soundtracks for some of the most famous movies, Armen has truly shone with this talent. With international performances ranging from Boston to Buenos Aires, including countries like USA, Mexico, Columbia, Argentina, Germany, Russian Armenia, Armen has worked with different styles too, not only classical. Armen infuses his classical background with Jazz, Rock, Pop and New Age as well, making him a unique and extremely well rounded musician. Tigran N. has been teaching Violin and Viola to students of all ages for over 15 years. He received his Master's degree in Music Performance from The Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia and his Bachelor of Music from Babajanyan State Music College. In addition to teaching, he has performed and recorded with several orchestras, has composed and arranged several pieces including his own album.
