In my voice lessons, I strive for solid, healthy technique. We will focus very heavily on breathing, breath support, posture, resonance, clarity, pure tone, power and strength without straining, vocal range, and problem solving. Depending on your specific goals and needs, I will design vocal exercises for your particular voice.
My students range from raw beginners to professionals who record albums or perform live regularly. Some of them have even been in operas, concerts, and on Broadway!
About Erin: After completing my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at North Park University in Chicago, I moved to NYC in 2010 to pursue my loves of music, acting, and education. During my time in NYC, I worked as a Teaching Artist through Wingspan Arts, acted in short films, and sang in concerts, operas, and musical theater productions around the city. Now, I am back in my hometown of Chicago to continue my work near friends and family! I have been teaching acting, modeling, voice, and piano to children and adults of all ages for the last seven years. My goal is to professionally fuse my passion for music, theater, and education while continuing to learn, grow, and share the beauty and magic of the arts with others.
In my free time I enjoy movies, board games, geeky TV ...
I work with those who are new to singing, and have had some beginning training.
With my Bachelor's from San Diego State University, I came to Chicago to pursue my Master's at The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. I have over 10 years of performing experience, including soloist with the San Diego City Ballet's Orchestra, and singing in the San Diego Opera Chorus. I also have over 4 years of teaching experience in both singing and beginning piano. I have also worked in the educational world with children ages 4-17, and believe music can be learned at any age.
Lessons are fun and creative, and will include activities to help understand concepts or games to get warmed up. You leave each lesson with a practice log for the week, and clear expectations of what you should be practicing.
So if you want to learn to be a musician ...
Bel canto instruction and technique with a clear outline of warm up techniques using Kristin Linklater techniques. I am a classically trained singer, familiar with the repertoire, as well as diction in Italian, French, German and Latin. The goal is utter freedom and beauty of the voice, enabling you to express the scope of contemporary and classical composers.
I am a professional singer, songwriter and actor working in the Chicago area for many years. I have a B.F.A. in Theater/Voice from The University of Kansas and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. I've been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003: I host the Singer's Salon in Chicago, a unique and supportive venue for singer's to become more comfortable performing before an audience. I also instruct workshops for vocal technique and performance. For the past 10 years I was the lead singer for The Red Apples, an acoustic roots band that performs an eclectic mix of rock, swing, blues, country and jazz. I also have a cabaret/art song project consisting or original material with composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski. As a singer and actress I have ...

I am currently studying opera at the Chicago College of Performing Arts and have extensive operatic training. I teach an open throat technique (appoggio) that allows the singer to sing with freedom, and access their entire range evenly. I also work with students to develop style, interpretation, languages, and acting ability.
My expansive breadth of interests has led me through years of experience in the arts and natural sciences. I'm a voice instructor, math tutor, and biology teacher. Now, I'm pursuing a career in opera and vocal performance.
I have extensively studied vocal performance and opera for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have been in many operas and musical theater productions. I am currently performing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat at the Booth Tarkington Theatre. I was a finalist in the MasterWorks Festival concerto competition. I have studied other vocal genres, such as jazz and pop. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. I use the appoggio technique of breathing and believe all singing should be ...
A Classical Voice, Opera Voice, or Opera Singing student must be at least 12 years old. Singing lessons are appropriate for ages 5 and older. Opera Voice lessons are the same as Classical Voice lessons, but with an emphasis on building power and endurance.
An adult voice or singing lesson has a minimum duration of 45min.
The only scheduling options I accept are either weekly recurring or Schedule-As-You-Go. ALL "RECURRING" SCHEDULES MUST BE ON A WEEKLY BASIS. I do not accept an every-other-week schedule, even though the website allows you to book that way. If you're not taking a lesson the same time every week, your only other option is Schedule-As-You-Go, which means each lesson is scheduled on an individual, floating basis, with no standing appointment. I generally recommend the Schedule As-You-Go option for my students.
In my "studio" there is room for one student and one parent/guardian/friend. There is no room for any additional people whatsoever. There is no waiting area, and the office is ...
