About Me

Sindhu, singer and pianist, received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Georgia State University where she studied with W. Dwight Coleman. She is familiar with many genres of music including classical, pop, christian contemporary, and music theater. Her stage credits include the roles of Cendrillon in Massenet's Cendrillon, Mi in the Atlanta Lyric Theater production of The Land of Smiles, and Voice of the Fountain in the Lincoln Center Opera production of Ainadamar.

Sindhu is also at home in orchestral singing, having sung as a featured soloist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on several occasions, including performances of West Side Story as well as the concert setting production and Deutsche Grammophon recording of Osvaldo Golijov's Grammy Award winning Ainadamar, which she also sang at Carnegie Hall with the Orchestra of St. Luke's.

In addition to singing, Sindhu is accomplished pianist, having performed as a music director and accompanist for many musicals including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Wiz, High School Musical, and the Secret Garden. She currently serves as the Children Choirs accompanist at Tucker United Methodist Church and plays regularly in the worship services at Gwinnett Community Church.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons take place once a week for either 30 or 45 minutes. I strongly suggest 30 minute lessons for all beginning piano students and 45 minute lessons for all Level 1 and above piano students as well as all voice students.

For Piano: I use the Faber method books. Lessons usually begin with a concept out of the Lesson Book followed up by an assignment from the Theory Book. If time permits, we will play out of the Performance Book, another song book, or a song of the student's choice. I always try to end the lesson with a music game that emphasizes ear training, sight-reading, and theory.

For Voice: I teach breath focused singing using a variety of approaches, the main being Bel Canto Technique. I enjoy teaching many genres of voice including music theater, classical, pop, and jazz. I begin the lesson with exercises emphasizing breathing and technique. I then move to working through songs enhancing the student's artistry. If time allows, we work on sight-reading and ear training at the end of the lesson.

First i want to know what the student is trying to accomplish, i.e. are you studying for a specific event, general improvement, etc. Once the students goals are clear we will set a time table to achieve them.

The first lessons will concentrate on breathing and finding the student's range. Once the student feels comfortable we will move to vowel shaping and recognition of tone. once the student is ready we will develop repertoire, a set of songs the student will learn and be able to use for various purposes. Diction, and foreign language will be a focus as well.

I'm a laid back individual so my lessons will be fun and freeflowing. I love to laugh and have fun. I understand a relaxed, confident singer will be a better singer. I want to really develop a special relationship with each student.

My name is Brandi, I have been singing since the age of 3, and writing music, recording and producing since the age of 12. As a teenager I began playing piano and guitar as well. I am a college graduate of Jazz Studies; with a focus in Music Business, and Music Production and Engineer and was a vocal principle at Berklee College of Music; I attended Cuyahoga Community College, and Berklee College of Music. During my years of college I've studied, musical arranging, ear training, breathwork, songwriting, and many private musical lessons and more. Post college I have taken vocal mastery classes in Atlanta, GA.

As a musician/singer I have performed in front of as many as 3,000 people, I recently had a full page feature in a magazine, as well as had FM Radio rotation for a song I wrote, sang and produced, and sold music on iTunes.

What a student may expect from this teacher:
Within 3-6 months students shall a have a good grasp on the foundation of their instrument/ craft; have a controlled sound; be playing/ singing what he/she hears; stronger, more defined tone; be able to play through/ sing through at least one song; have expanded range; confidence; and of course tackling personal goals set within the lessons.

My Goal is to facilitate bringing out what greatness already lies within and to assist in that growth, as well as teaching new information and the how to apply. I am not very strict on notation, as far as reading music (Piano and Voice). Lessons with me will more consist of the meatier portion of music how to use the instrument, developing the sound, understanding chord structures, playing/ singing what you hear, techniques and how to put it all together musically. However I will go through musical notation and reading chords, but it will not be a focus. (If you desire to play/ sing classically, I may not be the best teacher for you.)

For MUSIC PRODUCTION: Producing musical tracks and recording artist is the root and the focus. The curriculum is sculpted from LOGIC PRO X, REASON and PRO TOOLS software (subject to change). Students learn how to create what he/she hears and how to format it all together; Students learn how to track and record/ mix in the most professionally used software; Mixing and Mastering shall be touched upon as well.

When it comes to teaching and application of knowledge for each student I am serious about his or her growth; I don't want anyone wasting their money or time, so practice and dedication is necessary.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory. When using an electronic keyboard, I include more rhythm development, arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an electronic keyboard, in the lessons.
English: I am qualified, by years of tutoring, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I offer professional advice, support and technical vocal lessons to artists who want to become stronger, polished singers and performers. I offer full service performance for stage, concert, television, theatre and more. Its my passion to ensure each of my clients success and together we can achieve that! Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. I have been a singer/songwriter and recording artist since I was 6 years old! My recent work was in the studio recording my latest single "The Other Side". I recently appeared in ABC's Nashville and recently started our 2013 concert tour with my band. I know this business very well and I love to teach it and help others in their success. I have recorded several albums, written hundreds of songs, been in movies, television and worked with many high quality people in the music business.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Just because someone has worked with many individuals in the entertainment business does not mean that they are the best fit for your career and success.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. You ask how can I help? I am here in person, over the phone and Skype or Facetime as well! You need to be able the trust your coach and build a sustainable relationship with them! That's what I specialize in. Hire me and I guarantee you will be completely satisfied!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. To me, coming together for lessons to better your vocal ability is not just setting aside 30-60 minutes for a vocal session. Its about informing you about how you need to maintain your daily life for your success. When I think about success it goes way beyond the "classroom" aspect. If you ever need advice on something you have a question about don't wait for your next session my phone is always on and I would be happy to help in anyway possible.

A. I started touring around the US and Canada since I was 6 years old and have had the privilege of meeting many great people throughout my career. I've done acting, modelling, film, and been able to open for Trace Adkins, Tracy Byrd, Aaron Tippin, Blackhawk, Little Jimmy Dickens, LeeAnn Womack, Big Brother and the Holden Company and many other great artists.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. You have to look at where you are as an artist and where you want to be. Then together we create a clear package just for you on things that we need to accomplish to get you from good to outstanding. The training and sessions may be only 30-60 minutes but you will be sent with things to work on daily such as vocal warm-ups, nutrition, exercise (yes singers need to exercise) breathing exercise to obtain your ultimate goal! As long as we set SMART goals (Sustainable, Measurable, Achievable, Record-able and Timely) You will be more then satisfied with the results!

Personally coach, train and motivate individuals through a proven blueprint process that assists clients in learning the necessary skills to effectively set, plan and reach their respective career and individual goals.

About Me

Biography - Mary Frances K. has been teaching voice since 1991. She works with youth and adults, beginner and advanced. She helps voice students develop a healthy, beautiful sound, proper placement and projection of the voice for singing and speaking. Her goal is to help singers gain fulfillment and joy while improving their art.

Voice students of hers have won university voice scholarships and have been accepted into Allstate Chorus for High School in Georgia and other voice programs at the college level. She has taught in her home, and for Music Life Studio.

She also teaches piano. She has taught piano for about 8 years. She studied piano privately for 10 years and had further study at Indiana University. She accompanies herself in her own vocal study and rehearsals for synagogue choir practice. She believes music should be fun and rewarding.

Students wishing to have any combination of piano, music theory and/or vocal development can receive a program of study that meets their individual needs.

Mary Frances has performed with the Southeastern Savoyards Light Opera Company, the Atlanta Opera Chorus and Studio, the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, Marietta Theater in the Square, and Neighborhood Playhouse. She has sung title roles in Patience, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. Other roles include Josephine in HMS Pinafore, the Princess in The Student Prince, and Connie in The 1940'¬ôs Radio Hour.

She has performed many roles with Capitol City Opera Company (CCOC) including Annina in The Saint of Bleecker Street, Bastienne in Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne, Nora in Vaughan Williams¬¬ô Rider¬¬ôs to the Sea, and Gilda in Milton Granger¬¬ôs Talk Opera. She sang for many years in CCOC'¬¬ôs school outreach program. She has sung many concerts for CCOC as well.

Mary Frances was a soloist in Handel'¬¬ôs Messiah for Peachtree Presbyterian Church. She has worked as the soloist at The First Church of Christ Scientist in Roswell, Georgia and continues as a soloist at The Second Church of Christ Scientist in Sandy Springs, Georgia. She has occasionally directed the choir at Congregation Dor Tamid in Alpharetta, Georgia.

She holds a bachelors degree from Indiana University School of Music in both Voice and Theater. Mary Frances continues her education as a long time student of Elizabeth Colson of Atlanta, Georgia. She has attended Brevard Music Center, The Georgia State Opera Workshop and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. While in Graz, Mary Frances was a finalist in the Meistersinger competition.

Teaching Style and Curriculum - My teaching style is relaxed yet progressive. I use positive reinforcement to encourage progress with adults and children. Students are allowed to progress at their own pace which varies with age, coordination, processing speed and previous exposure to musical education.

I prefer the Alfred'¬ôs Basic Piano Library series for my piano students. I find that my students learn more music theory and music reading with this series. If the student has started lessons in a different series, I can work with that as well. I have a large music library that provides a wide selection of music in addition to the Alfred books. I expect most beginning students to learn basic music reading and theory in 3 to 6 months. They should also to be able to play simple tunes in that time. I am an active professional singer, so I have a large library of vocal material at my disposal.

I begin my voice lessons with breathing techniques and vocal placement using widely accepted exercises coming from a large body of sources such as:
Vaccai, professional level vocal teachers, coaches and directors that I have worked with and learned from over the last 30 years, and the writings of highly acclaimed authors in the vocal field. I also have a wide selection of art song books, oratorio, musical theatre, and opera. My background is classical and musical theatre,
but I believe all styles of singing need the basic skills of breathing and vocal placement. I strive to keep voices healthy as well as find each student's most beautiful sound. Most students will see progress in breath control, range, projection and diction in 3 to 6 months.

Repertoire is chosen on an individual basis depending both physical and musical ability. Younger students and beginners will be encouraged to not push their voices with material that is too difficult for their individual abilities because singing requires a certain amount of physical endurance. My goal is to find each student's natural sound without strain for whatever style he or she
sings.
