I have loved music as long as I can remember. I know its clichÚ to say so, but it's true! :)
For me, having parents of different ethnicities and siblings that were much older than me, I was heavily impacted by the wide variety of music to which my family members listened. The force of this crayon box of rhythms and sounds captivated and affected me so much that it is the key experience that I draw from in making my own music today.
I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska (a small town in the center of the state) so my only option for entertainment and fun was getting involved in the arts! I started performing at a very young age as both a dancer and a musician. I studied classical ballet, modern dance, hip hop and street dance, and world dance traditions throughout my formative years, which helped me to gain rhythmical fluency. I started my formal music training when I began to play the cello. From then on, I was hooked on the sound and I immersed myself in music as much as I could; performing, competing, working in as many musical groups and productions as possible (as both a vocalist and cellist), and even teaching.
I moved to Seattle in 2003 to study opera at Cornish College of the arts, only to later change my major to Jazz, and then again to Latin music studies. Since graduating from Cornish in 2007, with my Bachelor of Music degree, I have been actively and diligently working in the local music scene; performing and recording with artists and groups of many different styles. Everything from various Latin genres, to Rock, to R&B/Soul, to Hip Hop, and Jazz. Through my music, I aim to reach out to people of all cultures. I also aim to teach my own students with the hope that they too can discover the same continuous love of music that I have grown to feel (and still am growing to feel) over the years. :)

I have also studied with acclaimed teachers and coaches around the world including Dr. Kari Ragan and Maestro Dean Williamson.
My upcoming performances include singing both ADELE and IDA in Skagit Opera's production of Johann Strauss's "DIE FLEDERMAUS" this spring. Other performances a featured soloist as "Christine" in Ten Grand's Phantom of the Opera at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, WA, and many lead roles in both opera and musical theatre: such as Countess Ceprano and Gilda (Rigoletto), Blondchen (Die Entfuehrung aus dem Serail), Maria (West Side Story), La Fee (Cendrillon), Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls), Cathy (The Last 5 Years), Rosina (Barber of Seville), and more! I have also been part of jazz ensembles, and won the Battle of the Bands at Indiana University with a rock group! Gerber Scholarship, Music Dean's Scholarship, Music Faculty Award, First Place at Washington State Solo and Ensemble Competitions, First Place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) National Competitions, and many more!
Teaching brings me such joy! To share the love of music and to educate the musicians of tomorrow is both gratifying and inspiring. I have been teaching since 2006 and provide a fun and focused learning experience where there are no "wrong" questions, and everybody's unique voice is celebrated!
In my spare time, I like to practice yoga, dance, and have recently taken up aerial silk acrobatics as a hobby!

Mezzo-soprano Logan S. found herself unexpectedly studying opera and classical singing after her passion for music took her to the University of Northern Colorado for her undergraduate degree. It wasn╩╝t until she was cast as Meršedes in a scene from Carmen when she knew she found her calling. Under the guidance of Dr. Melissa Malde, she completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal performance in 2011.
During the summer of 2012, Logan participated as a young artist in Emerald City Opera Company╩╝s Artists Institute, where she covered the role of Cherubino in Mozart╩╝s Le nozze di Figaro. She also had the opportunity to perform scenes from Cosi fan tutte (Dorabella), Little Women (Meg), and Falstaff (Meg).
Recent roles include Cousin Hebe in Gilbert and Sullivan╩╝s H.M.S. Pinafore, and Rose in the premiere of The Riddle by up-and-coming composer, Alexander Pierce Hill. Along with opera, Logan is also a strong musical theater singer. Recent musical credits include Donna in a concert performance of Mamma Mia, and Joy in Roger and Hammerstein╩╝s Cinderella. Logan was fortunate enough to perform in several productions with UNC Opera Theatre. These performances included Dorabella in Cosý fan tutte with the Greeley Philahrmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Glen Cortese, the Mistress of Novices in Puccini╩╝s Suor Angelica, and the title role in Handel╩╝s Serse, as well as scenes from Die Zauberfl÷te, The Ballad of Baby Doe, and Carmen.
In the summers of 2009 and 2010 she toured to Europe with the UNC Summer European Opera Tour with Opera Classica Europa. She was given the opportunity to sing in cathedrals, castles, palaces, and town festivals throughout Germany and France. Along with recitals performed by the UNC students during the tour, she was asked to cover the roles of Lola in Masscagni╩╝s Cavelleria Rusticana and Emilia in Verdi╩╝s Othello.
As comfortable in art song and lieder as she is in opera, Logan placed as a finalist in the 2011 UNC Concerto Competition with her performance of Dominick Argento╩╝s song cycle “Casa Guidi”. She was honored her senior year by being elected as president of the UNC Opera Theatre Society during its second year of establishment. She also held a performance scholarship during her tenure at UNC.
Logan has performed in masterclasses and workshops throughout Colorado and Germany with music and drama specialists Sandra Piques-Eddy, Keith Miller, Morgan Smith, Keri Rustoi, Christine Brewer, Beth Clayton, Glen Cortese, Sue Patchel, John Charles Pierce, Keith Ikaia-Purdy, Edwardo Villa, Dr. Caleb Harris, Dr. Paul Brodene Smith, Ingo Anders, and Romano Vaccaro. Logan currently studies with coloratura-soprano, Cyndia Sieden.
Logan also has a strong background in piano (15 years) and oboe (8 years).
