I discovered music sifting through my Dad's record collection and soon decided that I wanted to play guitar. As a teenager I began taking lessons and building confidence in my abilities. I played in different types of bands ranging from rock, country, blues, and jazz. After completing College in 2003, I realized music was not just going to be a hobby, but a career. At age 31, I have been teaching and playing guitar professionally for the last eight years. I believe that anybody can learn to play as long as they are patient and understand that anything worthwhile takes time and sustained effort to achieve. You also need a good teacher who understands how to take you where you want to go musically. I have taught over a hundred different students of all ages and abilities. I have seen many of them grow musically and gain confidence in other areas of their lives as a result. I aim to inspire every student to find their way to a rewarding life through music.

I have been teaching and performing as a full time career since 1994. Over the years, I have developed an approach to teaching that is customized to the needs and interests of each of my students. I will help you set up musical goals,
and then use your preferred learning style to help you achieve those goals.

My name is Jacob and I have played guitar professionally in Baltimore and Northern Virginia for the past four years. When I first heard my dad play "Blackbird," I was hooked. I borrowed my little brother's guitar and started teaching myself from some old Hal Leonard books. There was something so exhilarating about making a piece of wood produce beautiful sounds. Soon I was taking lessons on electric guitar, playing Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. My teacher at the time pushed me toward classical guitar and I starting attending evening classes at the local community college when I was in high school. I fell in love with making music and decided to make it my career. I earned my Bachelor's of Music from Arizona State University, studying under Frank Koonce. During my first few years there, I focused on technique and commissioning new works for the guitar, while exploring the vast repertoire of music available.

Chrissy has expressed her passion and enjoyment of music through teaching students for the past several years. She encourages her student’s to be creative and excited about music. She believes music should be about self-expression and lessons should be tailored to the student’s interest while keeping the fundamentals and key elements of music at the forefront. Chrissy has been involved with music her entire life. She started out singing at the age of nine and was known as the little girl with the big voice. She also began playing the piano the same year and continued on to learn guitar at age eleven. Chrissy has been classically trained in guitar, piano, and voice by Towson University professors as well as Peabody graduates. I graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a degree in Music with a Concentration in Recording Engineering. Glen began playing the guitar when he was 14 years of age. While making a summer visit to his uncle’s house in Kansas, he began doodling on his uncle’s guitar. The fall that followed his summer visit he enrolled in a guitar class at his school and never looked back. He fell in love with the instrument and has been playing ever since. Moving from the Midwest to east coast he did not meet new friends right away and spent many hours playing his guitar after school.
