Hi! If you want to learn how to play drums just like your drum heroes, then let me help you! Playing the drums takes some practice, but it's so much fun! I am here to show you how to hear a song, pick out the drum parts, and then work on coordinating your hands and feet until you can play the song through like a pro!
We will also work on soloing, so when you sit down at the drums, you'll be able to come up with cool drum parts on your own!

I can teach many styles of music, from pop to rock to hip-hop to metal, as well as jazz, latin, reggae, marching beats, you name it! So if you're somebody who loves to drum away on the nearest table or chair, and wants to take it to the next level, then let's do it!

I strive to create an atmosphere that makes students feel comfortable so they are able to learn in a healthy way. Music should be fun and not something one feels forced to do, right? My goal is to stimulate creativity and inspire a drive in students to be the best musician they can be.

As a licensed teacher with experience teaching pretty much every age and skill level of students, across a wide variety of subjects, I have developed a program and an approach that gets students learning fast -- and enjoying it! Although I have taken several college classes in music -- everything from music theory to Garage Band (music software) -- most of my education as a musician and a music teacher has come from real-life musicians! I've personally grown up with many excellent piano players, drummers and singers, so I've been taught by the best! My first love was piano, and currently I sing and play the drums in my church choir. I am a classically trained drummer and percussionist who's been performing for 18 years and teaching for over 10. Did you know that many of the best drummers in the world did a wealth of learning before they even sat down before a drumset? Hand technique and rhythm theory fundamentals are crucial to being able to play ANY song later! I can guide you down the path of learning to play music on the drums correctly, efficiently, and most of all musically. Don't go to someone else and be the punchline to a drummer joke!

I've been playing drums for over 14 years. My focus is on funk music, which has it's roots in jazz, one of the most virtuosic forms of music. I enjoy tracing the roots of the music I like as far back as I can to discover where the origin of some of my favorite rhythms come from. This has led me on a world journey to New Orleans, New York, Washington D.C., Cuba, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago, Colombia, Africa and beyond. This journey is replicated in my own playing and my teaching.

I have been performing and teaching drums for the past fifteen years. I received my Master’s Degree in Performance from the University of Denver’s Jazz program on Drum Kit. I also specializes in Latin music specifically Cuban and Brazilian music. I have visited Cuba learning from some of the best musicians in the world on various percussion instruments. I started my musical studies at Berklee College of Music in 2001 and finished, graduating Cum Laude in 2004. During my study at Berklee, I was a Professional Music major focused on performance and arranging of Cuban and Brazilian music.

My goal is to share with you my musical expertise so you can start playing in musical groups across any musical genre or style. I have played on taught all styles. I love to teach.

I have been studying the drums for the last 16 years, and have been teaching other people how to play for the last 8 years. I began learning snare and mallets in school band, and quickly moved on to taking lessons privately so I could play in the Jazz band. After studying with some of the best at Berklee College of Music including Jamey Haddad, Bob Moses, Terri Lynne Carrington, Kenwood Dennard, John Ramsay, and Bertram Lehmann, I moved back to Colorado where I have been playing in bands such as The Swayback, Chimney Choir, Zach Heckendorf, Katey Laurel, and working as a studio drummer at John Macy's studio. My lessons are specially tailored to meet your personal goals, and will help shape your overall understanding of how percussion relates to music of all styles so you can handle any musical situation that comes your way.

Nick is a 22 year old drummer and composer currently performing and teaching in the Denver area. He is a recent graduate of the University of Northern Colorado where he received his B.M. Music Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies. While at UNC, Nick performed Lab Bands, Combos, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and studied privately under Jim White (Allison Krauss, Maynard Ferguson).

As the drummer and joint composer for Denver band Air Dubai, Nick has had the opportunity to tour, record, and perform extensively throughout the United States. He has performed at festivals such as SXSW in Austin, Texas and recorded with grammy-winning producers such as Dwight Baker and Sylvia Massey.

I have had a love of music from a very early age. At age 5, I started learning how to play piano and by middle school, I started playing the drums. I continued to play music throughout high school and college, and learned to perform percussion for just about every genre of music. All of this led to my Bachelors of Arts in Music Education with an emphasis in Percussion and Jazz Studies. As part of the requirements for this degree, I took many classes exploring all areas of music and teaching and found teaching to be a passion of mine. My musical experience includes teaching drum lessons to individuals and groups, organizing and instructing two drum lines for elementary school age children, being the lead drummer for a local band playing jazz, rock, funk and blues, and being the choir leader and drum player for my church. Dr. Jerry G. has performed as a professional musician, drummer and vocalist for almost 50 years. He has a background in classical music and has studied theory and numerous instruments and vocals.

After playing hits in the 60’s, "Dr. J" performed as an organist doing 10 shows a week in '69 and '70 at, what is today, the Pabst/Riverside Theater in Milwaukee. Jerry played 6 nights a week in the 70’s and toured with the legendary Grand Ole Opry star, Webb Pierce. By the late 1990’s, after earning a Doctorate in Instructional Technology, Jerry was with Ernie Givens & The White Lies Band and won Nashville’s OCT “Indie” award as the best Country Band in the World in both 1999 and 2000. He is a highly versatile percussionist versed in a wide range of musical styles from rock and country to swing and jazz.
