About Me

Hello all. I have been teaching for about 10 years now. I have degrees from two universities, one for jazz performance and one for classical performance. I have played in multiple bands throughout my life ranging in styles from punk rock all the way to straight ahead jazz. If you choose me for lessons, we will work on developing your musical vocabulary, learning to read music, hand exercises, chordal structures, scales, tablature and so much more. I have a love for music like none other and a passion to share that with my students.

*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson with me would start with some warm-up exercises. I then like to move on to any book material you may have had for that week. We will also work on chords and scales to use accordingly with any songs you're learning. Often we'll work on a popular song that you may want to learn. Also for the intermediate to advanced student there may be some music theory and aural skills training. Overall I tailor the lesson to the individual. I am thorough in my techniques. I also possess a great patience and will work with you on whatever you may be having trouble with until you and I both feel comfortable. You can expect rapid development with me. I promise I'll have you playing well in a short time.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide guitar, pencil, tuner, manuscript paper, etc. They need an instrument, music stand, tuner, metronome, book.

*** Specialties ***
I am well versed in ear training, music notation, tablature, and chord recognition. I have taught all age groups and all styles of music and feel confident in my ability to relate well to any material.

About Me

I am energetic, experienced and creative music teacher with a proven ability to get the very best out of pupils. I am an expert at identifying the appropriate resources required for a subject matter and then ensuring that they are used efficiently, effectively and safely, always keen on building a strong relationship with my students. Most of my students read and play simple music after 4-5 classes of active instruction.

I posses an extensive classical music and music pedagogy training. All my musical knowledge and expertise was attained in Eastern Europe. I play and teach piano, upright bass, bass guitar and a range of other instruments. Over the years I taught basic piano, the beginner violin, viola, cello and a variety of school instruments such as recorder and xylophone. I also teach advanced music theory, harmony and basics of composition and orchestral arranging required for music colleges. I especially find it rewarding working with beginners and the opportunity to show them the amazing world of listening, playing and making music.

The teaching begins with identifying student's musical needs, goals and tastes. Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and classic piano repertoire. For those wishing to pursue more of a classical approach to music, there are proven methods to accomplish that goal established by books and other materials from European master piano teacher and pedagogues

*** Lesson Details ***
The learning process should be, for the most part, fun and based upon a strong relationship between the teacher and the student. Curriculum and lesson plans are based on student's abilities and aspirations with appropriate balance between theoretical and practical work. The lesson material is always carefully chosen, and when necessary, adapted to specific learning needs.

With a proper approach, everyone can learn to play music. Whether you want to pursue a music career, or just play for fun and enjoyment I can help you attain your goals. From basic piano and stringed instruments, to advanced theory, harmony, composition and improvisation to jazz, pop and rock.

Classes are not based on a single source or book. I provide other exercises in printed form for students to keep and take home.

Two high end digital keyboards, two violins, cello, bass guitar and amplifier, music stands, stereo equipment. Assorted school instruments: recorder (soprano and tenor), xylophone. Various music charts and a large library of music resources and other books;

About Me

I have enjoyed music as long as I can remember! Whether listening, playing, writing, or teaching…I find great pleasure in the creative outlet that music provides.

At the age of five I began studying classical piano, in elementary school I studied trumpet, in middle school I picked up the guitar and bass, and in high school these experiences collided as I began to write and arrange for various ensembles. Playing in a rock band all through high school and college, I've had opportunity to record two albums and to tour regionally in the North East.

Receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education at Gordon College in Wenham, MA, I studied classical guitar with David Patterson for four years while I gained much experience in various areas of classroom education (band, choir, theory, general music) with students grades K-12. I developed a great love for teaching students music (emphasis on the students), learning that music education is not an end in itself. The primary focus of music education must be on the development of the student, not on the production of the music.

Since music is a means by which students can learn to excel and achieve, music education must be tailored to each student individually. Private teaching provides me with an opportunity to do what I love: to be intentionally involved in the development of well-rounded music students. I look forward to making music with you, and helping you grow as a music-loving musician!

*** Lesson Details ***
In lessons you can expect to have fun, work hard, and make progress! Through a laid back yet challenging teaching style, I will help you deepen your love for music and grow in your ability to practice hard, play for fun, and perform well. I will tailor my instruction to you—who you are, how you learn, your preferred style, and future goals. And will encourage you when you’re frustrated and commend you when you excel!

Lessons will consist of (1) learning to play by ear songs you enjoy, (2) working through a guitar/bass method book, (3) developing technical skills through various exercises.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you grow as a well-rounded musician!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Very simple setup with two chairs and music stand.

*** Specialties ***
I enjoy teaching rhythm/strumming on steel string guitar and pima finger picking on nylon string.
