The private lesson experience is unique in that it allows for more “customized” instruction that group lessons or rehearsals alone are not able to give. The instructor and student work one on one as a “team” toward the ultimate goal: a better understanding of their instrument, and a higher level of musical development.
In every lesson, we will work to improve technique, tone production, and listening/music reading skills, among other things. I will assign exercises and/or pieces each week that are meant to challenge, not overwhelm! Sometimes I will assign an exercise that is expressly meant for a particular area in which the student may not be the strongest, in an effort to develop that area. Learning an instrument is a skill that takes time to develop, and it is within the journey where most valuable learning takes place!

Thank you for looking at my profile! Teaching private music lessons is my absolute favorite thing to do. I tailor your entire lesson to your specific needs. Love Bach? Passionate for Duke Ellington? Broadway? Your lessons will be crafted to suit your interests. No boring scales required! I graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School and Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. I've worked with students from ages 5-75 and enjoy all ability levels equally. I'm the Director of Music at a major downtown Pittsburgh church where I play organ, piano, and conduct the choir for weekly services. Outside of music I love roller blading, gardening, cooking, and chasing after my 2 yr old daughter.

Hi, I'm Alec. I just completed my Masters degree at the University of Maryland, Maryland Opera Studio and before that studied at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory for my Undergrad. I am predominantly a performer, and can offer help in any part of the performance or auditioning processes. I also have a strong knowledge of Music Theory as well as Music History. Anyone can have a beautiful singing voice, and no matter what your singing style, or level of training, I would love to help you find that!
