About Me

I am currently a full time certified music teacher in central Massachusetts. I received my M.M in Music Education at the University of Rhode Island. Prior to that I lived in New York City where I studied classical percussion, played in a Soul band, and worked as a freelance percussionist.

I've been playing music since I was in third grade. Although mostly I study and play concert percussion, I have always played drumset, and also have studied and performed on electric bass and guitar for the past 10 years.

*** Lesson Details ***
I center lessons around the student's interests and goals for their own playing. I teach in a very supportive way, but always make sure students have a clear picture of what they should be doing.

I enjoy teaching a variety of styles and believe that students should learn what they are interested in. In addition, I like all of my students to work on technique so that, regardless of what styles they like to play, they can do so in a healthy way and won't get hurt.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Dedicated lesson room with all equipment available. Seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will bring my own drum/practice pad, and a student should have their own instrument or practice pad.

About Me

I am 25 years old, who has a strong desire to teach, I have the ability to explain music in many different ways, I work well with people, I have a lot of patience, ability to communicate, highly adaptable, always look at the positives, and very energetic. I have a Bachelors Degree in Media Communications with a Minor in Music from Anna Maria College. Over the past 14 years I've played drums/percussion for every type of band from concert bands, to jazz ensembles, to christian rock bands, etc. Also for the past 3 years I've taught private lessons to students of all ages.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher, who focuses on having fun while teaching drums and/or percussion. After learning what the goals of the student are I will help them to reach those goals along with teaching them basics of snare drum, because it is basis for reading all percussion music.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would provide books and music that I would exspect them to practice, I would only ask them to supply the instrument and a notebook.

*** Specialties ***
Jazz, Rock, Funk

About Me

First and foremost, I'm a professional touring/recording musician. I wrote, recorded and toured internationally with a rock/punk/hardcore band called Defeater from Boston, Ma between 2005 and 2012. I'm currently the touring drummer for indie/pop group Hellogoodbye.

I studied snare drum, drum set and percussion at the Rivers Music School in Weston, Ma from 1988 to 2000 (yes, I have actually been playing drums for almost my WHOLE LIFE!)

I studied privately with several Berklee College of Music instructors, including my Mentor, Dave Dicenso. I also studied Jazz improvisation at the New England Conservatory and music theory at Skidmore College. I earned my BA in Psychology at Boston University in 2008 and I've been teaching professionally and for fun since I graduated.

I cater my lesson plans to the desires of my students, though no music lesson would be productive if there wasn't some hard work involved. I work with my students to develop a strong background in rudimentary principles of drumming while still making it fun and keeping it interesting. For my intermediate and advance students, we focus on becoming a more technically advanced and musical drummer. We may be drummers, but we're still musicians and the most fun comes in writing great drum parts for great songs.

*** Studio Equipment ***
2 Yamaha Recording Custom drum kits, Zildjian Cymbals, practice pads, metronome, stereo system, laptops for watching drum videos and listening to new music. oh, and a couch.

*** Specialties ***
Snare drum technique, drum set technique, songwriting, drum set performance.
