Great teacher
My daughter enjoyed lessons with Joe. He was patient and good at explaining to a beginner.
I am a guitar teacher with 10+ years of experience teaching all different styles of music. Blues, Folk,Acoustic, funk, ska,Rock, Metal, Melodic, Country, Classical, Punk, Alternative, and various other melodies. I have played concerts all over the state of Illinois and I have taught many students throughout the years. I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced players. I am very passionate at what I do and I will guide you through the proper steps in becoming a great guitar player. Playing music takes a lot of time and patience as well as a lot of practice playing by yourself and in front of people. I am very relaxed and motivated to help my students learn and I will guide you through everything.
I would prefer that students bring their own guitars so that you would be more comfortable playing your own instrument, if you can't or do not have one, I have guitars here that you may use but during our sessions only.

About Me
My name is Daniel. Composition is my major area of expertise and my major instruments are jazz piano and voice. I currently attend Vandercook College of Music due to the fact that it is a specialized school strictly devoted to music educators. Beyond its capacity for being used as entertainment, music aids in learning, helps develop advanced motor skills, increases memory function, and many other purposes for a well rounded education. It is my goal to help educate the next generation in traditional music practices as well as incorporate new techniques that are relevant to our current day and age.

I wanted to take vocal lessons for such a long time yet I felt a little silly pursuing that at 55. But one day I decided it was a false limitation so I called. Dan is an awesome instructor, patient and encouraging. His favorite line.....AGAIN! Thanks Dan! Sue

I've only had two lessons but so far Bryan has been super! His lessons are packed with good clear instruction. I'm slightly more than a beginner and he was able to jump in with lessons that challenge me yet aren't overwhelming! So far so good. :)

About Me
Drawing from my 20 years of experience tinkering in the guitar kitchen, I teach guitar and music theory to students of all ages and abilities in the Chicagoland area. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in 2004 from Ithaca College in Upstate New York, where I studied Jazz and Classical guitar in addition to music theory, history, and recording.
Since graduating I have gone on to perform extensively in New York and Chicago, primarily in a genre pioneered by guitarist Django Reinhardt and called "Gypsy Jazz". I have also filled roles as lead guitarist in musical theatre pit bands, scored original music for films (including the Emmy Award-Winning documentary "100,000"), and taught hundreds of lessons in private, group, and workshop formats.
I teach electric as well as acoustic guitar playing in many different styles (ranging from Classic Rock, Blues, Funk, and Alternative, to Folk, Classical/Spanish, and Jazz).

My 10-year-old really enjoyed his lessons with David. He learned a lot and was excited to go to every lesson. David is very calm, patient, and great working with kids. He is very positive and motivational. David knows how to get the best performance out of his students. We really appreciate all his help and efforts. If ever our schedule allows, we would love to come back and take many more lessons.
Thanks for everything!

dan S,
Highly creative
David is a highly skilled and creative guitarist, and encouraged me to explore free creative expression in playing and practicing the guitar. I looked forward to what I might be able to learn from him with excitement. Unfortunately, due to schedule incompatibility, I disappointingly realized that it would be difficult to continue to try to work together - for both him and myself.

About Me
I started violin at age eight, and I've been playing music ever since. Youth orchestras and strings camps segued into guitar ensembles and pop groups. I started teaching guitar over seven years ago, and violin shortly thereafter. I studied ethnomusicology at the University of Chicago, specializing in American popular music in the 20th century. I am also a performing and recording artist, with over ten records and several national tours under my belt. I can offer my extensive experience, unique musical insight, and personalized lesson plans to help you achieve your musical dreams.
Subjects Taught
Bass Guitar, Guitar, Cello, Music Performance, Music Theory
About Me
I started playing music when my dad got me a guitar for Christmas when I was four years old. For years, I only knew how to play about five notes, but I had the most fun ever.
Today I know a lot more than those five notes -- and I'll make sure that you learn a lot more than five notes in a hurry -- but I still have just as much fun as I did then. I'm a teacher because I want to show you, and everybody else who is curious about music, that fun starts on your first day with the instrument and should continue forever. That's something that's far more important than whether or not you can lead a rock band, play a concerto, or go on international tour.
I've played guitar ever since that Christmas but most of my shows these days are on cello or electric bass. You can see me all over Chicago with different friends of mine, usually at coffee shops, art galleries, or music festivals.

Wonderful teacher for my son
Ira has been very patient in teaching my 9.5 year son. He seems genuinely interested in seeing progress in his student and I am grateful for his thoughfulness. His teaching techniques are age appropriate and useful. Only regret is that we will be leaving Chicago tand can't continue the lessons!
Scott D. was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois in 1967. He expressed a keen interest in music at an early age, and subsequently, began his studies with the clarinet, and percussion while performing in the school band. A short time after that, he decided guitar was going to be his instrument of choice, and began formal studies with blues man, Don Brown. After that, Scott moved on to study with session ace, Gary Blume. By the time we was 18, he began studies for what would be the first of his two degrees, at William Rainey Harper College. There he was mentored in both classical and jazz guitar under well known session player, and composer, Steven Suvada, and later continued with David Sussman, of the Lyric Opera in Chicago.
That year Scott went to Northern Illinois University to continue his studies for a second degree in Music. There he studied under Fareed Haque, of Pangaea records, again obtaining both jazz and classical training. While at NIU, Scott took part in...

Lindsay W,
Lindsay W's Review
Brett is a fun guy to learn an instrument with. He's very easy going and builds the lessons around your interests. Since I was a total beginner, Brett started me with a lesson book, to get some basics down. When that started to get a little dry, we added some easy songs that I chose by musicians I enjoy, to keep things interesting. Then we go back to skill building with either the lesson book or exercises Brett gives me that are relevant to the music we have just learned. Each week we focus on just a few new things, to keep the lessons manageable. So there is a little bit of structure and a little bit of improvising. It's a comfortable, casual environment. All in all, Brett is a great teacher!

Originally from Indiana, David has been teaching music in both the private and public school sectors for 12 years. Getting his start as a drumline instructor with only 4 students, David soon expanded his teaching to include both guitar and piano, which he studied under Frank Puzzulo (of Miles Davis' group) at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
Upon graduating Ball State, David moved to Colorado to study jazz and classical music with Dr. Douglas Walter, an accomplished percussionist who is known for his versatility and multiple percussion talents. He also studied piano and guitar in his off time, jamming with several rock and jazz groups both in and out of school.
In 2006, David left the college scene with a Masters in Music and moved to Florida where he began his teaching career. In Florida, David taught roughly 70 students, ages 5 to 18, at Wewahitchka High School and Middle School. He was beloved by the town, helping out in the community as a local organist...
