About Me
I got my first guitar as a Christmas gift when I was 12 years old, I took a few lessons, practiced a lot, and by the time I was 15, was playing around town with different bands. Although I had some classical training in piano, I learned to play guitar by copying what I heard on records. I made a lot of mistakes learning this way. One reasons I am passionate about teaching is because I can help beginners to avoid making some of the same mistakes I did.
After many years of playing in rock/blues and garage bands, I decided to pursue a degree in music. While enrolled in the university, I sharpened my performance skills, developed a solid knowledge of music theory, and studied jazz improvisation. My knowledge of music theory allows me to explain abstract concepts and ideas to my students in a language that they can understand. I enjoy helping people to gain a better understanding of music in this way.
