About Me
I would consider myself a lifelong student of the humanities. I have been in continuous study of piano, voice and the performing arts since I was 4 years old. Growing up in a very musically enthusiastic house I had all the support from the beginning with my endeavors. During my years at Emory & Henry College I studied all aspects of the arts while achieving a degree in Musical Theatre. I have had the privilege to be able to perform for President Bill Clinton, Pope John Paul II, and many Broadway stars such as Evalyn Baron (Les Miserables) and director John Giampetro. I have also traveled to South Korea where I spent about 15 months teaching English, theatre and music to a vast amount of students ranging from the age of 3 to 50+. In my post undergraduate studies I have partaken in conservatory classes at the Shakespeare Theatre and Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C. Currently I sing bass in a quintet named Cornerstone where we sing everything from secular to barbershop. We are based...
Student Feedback
Chad C, Knowledgeable and Flexible
Gavin is great instructor. He is able to incorporate individual styles and work at the pace of the student. Able to be a guide when the paths seems clouded while also able to streamline progress towards individual satisfaction. He knows when to clarify confusions and more importantly lead you find your own clarity.

Samantha L, Style
Gaining some knowledge on styles really helps me to connect where I am and where I am going, like a road map. The exercise singing with Norah Jones allowed me to experience support with personal expression. From this past lesson there's an increase in confidence, sense of progress, and direction! Thank you!

Jennifer H, Excellent piano teacher
I'd recommend Gavin to any adult learners, or parents with kids learning piano and voice. Gavin is a good teacher for both classical and pop and plays piano beautifully. He is punctual and courteous, but is also a laid back, patient person with a bright positive outlook and strong work ethic. He is consistently encouraging and leads the student at a natural pace, building on what the student knows and taking each natural opportunity to learn something new. I have had other music teachers and it has never been as easy and fun as with Gavin. I feel fortunate he's been my piano teacher at this point in my playing.
