While most 5 year olds were singing along to silly songs, I was entranced by the tribal drumming in the Michael Jackson's "Will you be there". When most Junior High student were listening to, well, whatever made them "cool", I was thinking of what John Lennon meant in his lyrics for "Strawberry Fields Forever." Writing my first song at the age of 7, the creative fire began to use music to express what no other form of communication could. Struggling with the limitations of my vocal abilities at the age of 16, I decided to intensify my study of the voice, taking hundreds of private lessons in such techniques as Bel Canto Vocal Technique, Speech Level Singing(TM), Progressive Vocal Techniques(TM), and others, as well as reading dozens of books and hundreds of research articles on the mechanisms of the voice. Let Me tell you a bit about myself:

I have been playing the guitar for over 20 years. I've been trained in Jazz with a very strong musical theory background but my main passion is popular rock music. Music has always been the greatest passion in my life. In addition to the guitar I also play drums, pedal steel, bass, and piano so I have a good idea of how instruments work together to create music.

I've been playing professionally for the past 15 years touring Nationally and Internationally. I've toured with my own original acts as well as a hired lead guitar player for Shooter Jennings and others. I've also been a studio musician for some time now, hired to play on many different artists' recordings.

I've been a recording engineer and producer so I have a well rounded background in many aspects of music.

EDUCATION
I started piano at age 4, and continued study for decades under top talent such as University of Arizona graduate Lynn Moser; Eastman School of Music graduate Randall Fusco; and Claremont graduate Andrea Anderson, PhD. I perform solo and in bands and keep up to date on techniques and the music industry through seminars, showcases and conferences. My own compositions blend classical piano with lyrical electronic music, which I create at Dorothea G. Studio on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks.

I've been surrounded by music literally my entire life - both of my parents were professional classical violinists, and my first word was "gig." Before taking up guitar, I'd studied piano and cello; as I focused more on guitar, that also led to interests in electronic music, recording production and engineering, and composition. I went on to obtain a BFA in guitar performance, and have been actively playing, writing, recording, and teaching for many years.

For beginning students, I combine basic playing technique with a solid foundation in musical fundamentals, including standard notation, rhythmic reading, and (when useful) tablature. For more advanced students, my specialty is in applying a number of core concepts (including theory, ear training, and technique) to a wide range of musical styles. I'll typically use examples from rock, jazz, and blues as ways of "connecting the dots" between core music concepts and their real-world application.

I have taught over 1500 students with some of my students being major Hollywood actors and actresses.
I'm proud to say that many of my students have also gone on to major colleges and universities.

I am a working actor and performer based in Los Angeles, California. I was trained at UC Berkeley, classically, and also privately with renowned voice teacher, Seth Riggs for several years. I specialize in teaching a blend of bel canto and modern pop techniques. I have experience singing in at least 10 different languages: Italian, French, Javanese, Latin, Arabic and English to name a few. I also specialize in vocal harmony and have found that singing in harmony is a great tool for developing your ear and your voice simultaneously.
