*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that your interest in the instrument from the "get-go" is what makes the lessons seem to fly by. As you learn, this interest only gets stronger. It is my responsibility as the teacher to make sure your time spent with me is time spent where knowledge is TRANSFERRED to you and not DISPLAYED to you. There will be responsibilities for you as the student, as this is necessary in order for you to get intimately acquainted with your instrument. But my style of teaching is simple & laid back. I feel the need that learning be enjoyable...as we both learn together and as you get to the place that you want to be as a musician!...at your pace!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my personal instrument. The student must provide instrument he / she wishes to learn on.

Charlie P. Charlotte, NC

Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting

About Me

I have been passing on what I've learned in my own studies, personal and privately taught, to help new students get the strong foundations for becoming the best musician they can be. I've been playing since age 6 (now 44) and performing since 18. I started with Classical guitar, then Rock and Jazz. In all my years of study, I've learned how to teach and how NOT to teach. I have had many years of private lessons. I've written, recorded and performed for over 20 years. My wife and I even do voice over work on occasion.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students have become friends and I've seen many go on to become performers, songwriters and teachers. I also use a wide range of materials when teaching like DVDs, CDs, and computer 'play along' tracks. I love teaching, seeing people smile and enjoy making music. Music is like painting : I try to show students as many colors as I can and encourage them to create something of their own which others can enjoy as well.
I sometimes learn FROM my students as they present something they wish top learn but I must first figure it out before showing them how to play it. It's very give and take when I teach.

*** Studio Equipment ***
studio on second floor for lessons; chairs and equipment available; books, metronomes, music stands, cd players, cables and amps; acoustic & electric guitars.

*** Specialties ***
Rock and Jazz and appreciation of Classical
Expose students to music they normally don't listen to.
Guidance through improvisation and creative process.

Acoustic Guitar, Arrangement and Composition, Audition Prep, Bass Guitar, Blues Guitar, Country Guitar, Ear Training, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Theory

About Me

I began playing and studying guitar while still in grade school. Always a big part of who I am, guitar became the central focus of my life when I moved to the west coast in 2010 to enroll at The Musicians Insitute's College of Contemporary Music.

While there, I had extensive training in sight-reading, ear-training, music theory, chart writing, and such practical music applications as scales, modes, soloing techniques, chord voicings and inversions, chord progressions, and rhythm techniques. My studies covered a broad spectrum of music styles, including blues, rock, fusion, country, pop, reggae, acid jazz, funk, and R & B, as well as such concepts as the basics of the music business, studio and audition skills, and computer notation.

Having now attained my Associate of Arts degree in Guitar Performance and having performed across California and Arizona, I have just recently moved back east and am now performing at various venues in the Carolinas.
