About Me

I have a Bachelor's degree in Music from Liberty University, specializing in Church Ministry and Intercultural Studies. I achieved a primary in guitar and a secondary in voice. I have completed all Music Theory and Aural Skills training as well as courses in Arranging, Instrumental Performance, Dynamics of Instrumental Worship, Computer Literacy, and Song Survey/Writing. Currently I am finishing my Master's degree in Ethnomusicology. I have three years of experience teaching and tutoring. I also have almost a decade's worth of experience playing with church music ministries and performing at local venues. I have a great passion for music and teaching. My desire is for my students to find a love for their instrument and their art.

Hello, my name is Jimmy and I teach bass and guitar lessons. I also teach piano, but only a beginner level. I have been performing, recording, and writing music for over 15 years and can teach a wide variety of styles including rock, pop, blues, jazz, reggae, funk, latin, and many more. I have played in a range of different bands/artists throughout my career including such acts as The Fray, Rose Hill Drive, Flobots, Cary Brothers, Meese, Crosby Loggins, John Common, Hello Kavita, and many more. In addition, I have had the pleasure to play numerous gigs both nationally and around the world as well as popular TV shows such as Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O'Brian, Good Morning America, Ellen, Craig Ferguson, and many others. I've been a professional musician and teacher for over 25 years. I had a degree from the University of Minnesota and I studied music at the University of St. Thomas when I was in high school. I've performed and recorded with numerous artist including The Temptations, Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits), Bobby Z, Billy McLaughin, Presidential Inauguration 2005, The Shirelles, Martha Reeves, Larry King, The Guess Who, Quiet Riot, Loverboy, J. Hoye and many more. I received the Certificate of Achievement from Billboard Magazine for production and songwriting, etc.,etc. enough about me though.

I’m currently a few credits away from completing my B.A. at Florida International University with an English Major and Education Minor, specializing in early education and elementary music instruction. Aretha S. has been using her gift of song all over the United States, and now abroad since the age of 4. Having her start in a singing group called the S. Sisters, which contained her 3 sisters and her parents on accompanying musical instruments, they over time, have sung at various churches, sporting and community events all over the United States. Opening for such artists as The Clark Sisters, Commisioned, Yolanda Adams and Vickie Winans to name a few, they even got the chance to sing for such historical events as Rosa Park’s 80th Birthday party and the Tuskeegee Airmen’s Congressional Honorial banquet.
