My Background:
I have been singing since the age of four! I am a native of Miami Beach Florida. I started performing in church and school where my passion for performing were developed. Having come from such a background I was privileged with a well rounded musical tastes, from Gospel in church Classical in school, and Reggae, Pop, Rock, and R&B from her parents. In performing in contests and local shows I learned a lot about stage presence and can share that with my students as well. I earned my bachelor's in Studio Music and Jazz Voice and the University of Miami as well as a Minor in Music Business. At UM I had the opportunity to study with critically acclaimed Jazz musicians and artists such as Kevin Mahogany, Kurt Elling and John Secada. I am a South Florida based singer and actress. In 2008 I graduated from Florida School of the Arts with a degree in musical theatre. I continued my studies at Florida Atlantic University and graduated in 2010 with a degree in Theatre and Music. I have been in numerous productions playing roles such as: Jan (Grease), Rose (Gypsy) Mabel (The Pajama Game) and Berthe (Pippin). I am also a professional improvisational comedian, performing in Miami and West Palm Beach.

Hi! My name is Barbee and I am pursuing a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. I recently graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, and I have experience teaching singing, piano, speaking, and music theory. I have taught students ages five to adult, male and female, with all levels of experience and many different musical goals. I have performed in Italy, the Czech Republic, and the US, in operas, musicals, oratorios, concerts, and recitals.

Hailing from Madison, WI, I was brought up in a wonderful musical culture. I first started playing guitar when I was about 13, teaching myself simple rock tunes and learning what I could on my own, but I have been a musician almost my entire life. With both of my parents being classically trained pianists, I started my formal music study on piano at age 5. While I didn't completely identify with the instrument, it definitely gave me the musical backbone I needed to continue pursuing music seriously. When I got to middle school band, I took up the saxophone and then finally discovered guitar. I had finally settled into an instrument that was perfectly expressive and intuitive. As time went on, I realized more and more that making a career with this instrument needed to happen for me. I've been teaching music lessons now for nearly 8 years. I have been singing, playing the guitar, and playing piano since I was 7 years old. I went to Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey to study Sacred Music. While there I had the distinct honor of performing Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem with the New York Philharmonic, The Dresden Philharmonic and the New Jersey Symphony at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center NY, New York as well as the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Throughout my time there I also developed my piano proficiency through rigorous ear training and through the learning of theoretical concepts in music.

I then went on to work with Mid-America Productions and the New England Symphonic Ensemble. Through this opportunity I have now sung over a dozen performances of various classical choral masterworks at Carnegie Hall in New York City! "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice, Practice!"

Originally from New York City, music has always been one of my passions and I was hooked from the moment I had my first piano lesson at 7 years of age. I went on to study with excellent teachers which included a scholarship to the Greenwich School of Music in Greenwich Village. During those years I also met my first drama teacher, Gertrud Schattner, a Viennese actress who was one of the founding members of the National Association of Drama Therapy in the United States. She instilled in me a love for musical theatre and prepared me to audition for the High School of Performing Arts, which was portrayed accurately in the original movie "Fame" (1980). I received a rigorous and thorough training there in theatre, voice, and movement and have since gone on to perform and to give instruction in acting and singing.

Stefani's musical talents were first observed at the age of 5, when she began private study of piano and music theory. She played the alto saxophone for a brief period of 4 years during junior high and early high school, but then moved on to join the school choir at age 16. This choice led to the unexpected discovery of a beautiful, powerful voice. Stefani earned a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre at the University of Tulsa, with special studies in jazz vocals, ear training, and theory. Her college career provided her with intense studies in the vocal styles of Musical Theatre, Classical, and Jazz. She performed in many musicals, plays, and recitals at TU, and during each summer, she worked as a cast member of Light Opera Oklahoma. She was a featured vocalist with the TU Jazz Combo and Big Band, and she performed at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. She gained her first studio experience her senior year at TU when she recorded a full-length jazz album.
