About Me

I have proudly been teaching music privately for 10 years. I have worked with hundreds of children molding their young musical talents. I enjoy being able to see them grow from year to year which is one of the reasons I chose private as opposed to public schools. It's a thrill to have a student with me from a little kid in elementary school all the way until graduation and, know that I was there to help them not only through their musical endeavors but, also through life.

I have experience in all types of music and, I also specialize in NYSSMA, SCMEA, college, and pre-college prep. In college I studied jazz and classical music and also participated in musical productions in and out of school. I played for many years in my church choir as a flautist and clarinetist. About Me

I have been defying modern convention as a solo artist of oboe and voice, bringing exciting and unusual programs to audiences. Because of this I have made it my responsibility to commission works for oboe/voice, and to date have four completed works by Jason Coleman, MuXuan Lin and Lyle Davidson, with many more to come. I have degrees from The Hartt School, New England Conservatory and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance where I studied with Humbert Lucarelli, Mark McEwen, and Barbara Bishop.

In addition to performing, I am dedicated to bringing music to the younger generations as I have been teaching woodwinds and voice since 2000. I believe my knowledge and experience of music to be far reaching as I have experience in classical voice and woodwinds, jazz and musical theater as well as a love for teaching theory, history and ear training. About Me

I am a music educator, classically trained with an advanced performance degree. As a soloist and collaborative musician, I have performed professionally in ensembles, bands and orchestras both here and abroad. With a high degree of knowledge and proficiency, I teach proper technique and practice strategies, music notation, theory, rhythm and phrasing, while adapting teaching approaches to match the needs of each student. I share a love of music with my students and it gives me great pride to hear each student develop their own musical voice.

About Me

My mother tells me I was reading music before I was reading words. One of my earliest memories is singing with my church children's choir; I must have been about four. I began piano lessons when I was six and in fourth grade took up the clarinet. In sixth grade I really wanted to sit next to my best friend in band class, who happened to play the oboe. So I made the switch and it stuck!

Most parents want their kids to grow up to be doctors. Mine saw my passion for music and so encouraged me to go to music school. I rebelled, naturally, thinking I would get my degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (with a double-major in Music to appease my folks). After it became painfully clear to me that music was really my strong point, I decided to pursue it as a career. I received my Bachelor's degree in oboe performance at the University of California, Santa Cruz and continued on to receive a Master's in choral and orchestral conducting.

Currently I am involved in an acoustic rock band called The Standard Deviation (TSD). With this band I do vocals, keys, flute and percussion. I am very comfortable with performing.
The instrument I enjoy playing when it comes to classical music is the oboe. It has a beautiful sound and has the ability to express lots of emotion.

About Me

My goal as a teacher is to make music enjoyable and educational for any student. I meet each of my students at their level and my passion is to ensure that all of my students' musical dreams come true.

I have studied classical guitar and saxophone since 1999. I continued my studies of both instruments while at university. While at UNT, I learned how to play all of the wind and percussion instruments and I studied piano as well. I have played in several bands and I have recorded three albums with those various groups (all original music).

About Me

Bonnie grew up in a household that loved JAZZ! Her mom and dad took her to famous big band concerts such as, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman.....to name a few. This valuable experience left her with the conclusion that music is FUN!

She started piano at age 4, and oboe in the 8th grade. In High School, she played in the jazz band and won the best soloist award. She also performed in the local symphony orchestra, then on to college. Throughout college, she played in the Tampa Orchestra. After her masters, she played with Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

All along the way, she was teaching private students, and then began homeschooling her own children. She also became a certified Kindermusik teacher, which emphasized even more her love of making music FUN!

About Me

Gilberto was born in Caracas, Venezuela where he performed with the Simón Bolívar Youth Symphony Orchestra as a youth and then later moved to Cologne, Germany to continue his musical studies at Rheinische Musik Schule Conservatory. Gilbert holds a double Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and Music Education from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University of Long Beach. He continues to work as a professional flute player, vocalist, composer, arranger, producer, and music teacher.

Gilbert specializes in woodwind instruments (flute, saxophone, clarinet), beginning instruments (piano, violin, and brass), vocals (pop, Latin, Jazz), music theory and improvisation (Jazz, Blues, Pop, etc.).

He has studied and taught in places such as: Venezuela, Germany, Europe, Brazil, Taiwan, and in the Long Beach Unified School District in California.

About Me

Originally from Toms River, NJ, Matthew is an educator and freelance musician in the Tri-State area. Matthew received a bachelors degree in music education from The Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers University) and is completing his masters degree in music performance at New York University.

Matt has studied piano since the age of seven, covering both classical and jazz/pop genres. While at Rutgers, he played with graduate-level Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Opera Orchestra. He has played with various orchestras in Avery Fischer Hall, Symphony Space, NJPAC, and the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia). He has studied with leaders in oboe performance (Matthew Sullivan, Jonathan Blumenfeld, Nathan Hughes, Geoffrey Burgess) as well as classical and jazz pianists (Karina Bruk, Andy Milne).

Matt lives the Financial District of Manhattan, teaching both at home and on the NYU campus.
