I am originally from Chicago, Illinois and now reside in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area. I started singing publicly around the age of 5 and playing piano at 9. From there I have toured overseas to various parts of Europe and across the United States. I have learned various techniques from Classical, to Gospel, to Country, to R&B, to Pop/Rock, to Musical Theatre and many more. In addition to just singing them myself I can effectively teach others the how to sing their favorite genre as well. I have taught for music and arts, Andrews Air Force base and several local music schools. I also help students preparing for college auditions, and recitals. In addition, I have experience with social media and online presence which can allow vocal singers the opportunity to sing with others and create various performance recordings. On the academic side of things I help tutor students in a variety of subjects and coach them to achieve better grades, and higher test scores to create an attractive college preparation portfolio.

An Ohio-born baritone, David has always had a passion for music and singing. Strongly influenced by the musical pursuits of his older brother, David began playing the piano at age six and was captivated by the school musicals his brother starred in, as well as by the musical Disney movies popular at the time. David also showed aptitude as a young singer. He was frequently chosen as a soloist for grade school productions, and he would often compete in OMEA adjudicated events, receiving the highest scores possible.
David's professional singing career began in high school after receiving recognition from singing the National Anthem at home basketball games, which were always highly-attended. He was soon being paid to sing at local holiday festivals and other community events, where attendance was often in the thousands. Notably, David won first place in both state-wide and international talent competitions for his performance of "If Ever I Would Leave You" from the musical Camelot.
David soon attended Northwestern University, where he was classically trained in opera performance over a five-year period. While at college, he was active in several choirs and an a Capella group on campus. He also started teaching voice at that time, offering instruction to friends who paid him for lessons. One of his students sang in a band, another played the piano and wanted to learn to sing better while playing, several wanted to sing better in church, and a couple others with more singing experience simply wanted to improve their existing technique.
After graduating, David played the role of Colline in the world-renowned opera La bohème for his operatic debut. In addition, he has performed songs in many different languages, including: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Russian. David currently resides in West Los Angeles, where he attends graduate school at UCLA, and continues to teach voice in his spare time. He is also preparing to release his debut solo album.
So what can David do for you? He has a love for singing only paralleled by his passion for teaching. As such, David feels right at home teaching his students a healthy vocal technique centered around their goals. Please see "Lesson Details" for more!

gfire has been teaching music full-time for over 16 years. Based in Austin, Texas, the "Live Music Capital of the World," she offers voice, piano, songwriting and DJ'ing lessons to students from 5-105 and she specializes in sculpting her lessons to the strengths and desires of each individual student. Her students range from beginning to advanced levels, and they sing and play a multitude of musical styles, including classical, pop, rock, r 'n' b, country, folk, singer-songwriter, musical theater, blues and more.
gfire loves to share her talents with her students. She prides herself on instilling a "sense of mastery" to each of her singing and piano students, no matter on which level they are. The students come away with a real sense of knowing their songs and their instruments inside out and with a real sense of confidence in their musicianship. Plus they have a lot of fun as they make musical progress!
gfire is also an award-winning singer-songwriter and "Yoga for the Voice" innovator. She has released 4 CDs of all-original music and is currently working on her 5th CD, to be released in 2010.
As a teacher, gfire works with students of all levels and all areas of interest. In October 2007, gfire became the only vocal teacher in the Western Hemisphere to gain full certification in the Science of Singing, developed by Ernest G. White of London, England. Her unique voice training program, entitled "Yoga for the Voice," combines this knowledge of the Science of Singing with ancient yoga breathing techniques. This technique allows each voice student to develop a "vocal tune-up" for the voice AND to discover what the natural singing range is and how to use the voice as effectively as possible. With the internet SKYPE technology, gfire teaches voice students all over the world, from Switzerland to the U.K. to New Zealand to New York.
Her vocal students have sung in touring rock bands, on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, in successful auditions, in karaoke clubs, in coffee houses and folk clubs, at weddings and for their own enjoyment amongst family and friends. Whatever level of singing training you wish to acquire, she will show you the way to achieve it!
gfire was also the main voice instructor and one of 3 main piano teachers at the Austin branch of Mars Music (now defunct) for 3 1/2 years. In addition to her vocal study and innovation, she has studied piano with top classical and jazz pianists, studied songwriting with Pat Pattison of Berklee College in Boston, gotten her full yoga teaching certification in 2004 and DJ'd at clubs and parties worldwide. For four years straight - 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 - she has won the prestigious ASCAPlus Award for professional songwriting.
As a singer-songwriter, gfire continues to write, record and perform with some of the best musicians and engineers in the world, including engineer Stuart Sullivan (Willie Nelson, Sublime, Meat Puppets, etc.), Hammond organ player Ian McLagen (Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart), cellist John Hagen (Lyle Lovett), fiddle/mandolin player Warren Hood (The Waybacks), bassist George Reiff (Ray Wylie Hubbard) and banjo picker Danny Barnes (Bad Livers, Dave Matthews).
gfire's original songs have been played on over 160 radio and television stations worldwide. She has toured in over half of the fifty states, plus the U.K. and Canada.

Whether you want to pursue a Musical Career or simply learn how to Play your Favorite Tunes for friends and family, I am here as your Teacher and Guide. I teach at my own home, commute to yours or through the use of Sype. Your choice.
As a Father of four, I have had the joy in teaching my children Guitar, Saxophone, Songwriting, Composition and Keyboard. As a parent I have found that Patience and Encouragement is sometimes the best form of support. It has been proven that learning Music helps develop intuition, self-awareness, and social skills as well as improve in other subjects not directly related to the arts such as Mathematics and Science.
One of the most important aspects of playing Music is being able to play by ear. This has been a priceless gift that I have developed throughout my life and I encourage all musicians, young and old, to do the same. The use of simple Rhythmic Dictation and Ear Training exercises can do wonders for "picking out" those unusual beats and harmonies we hear no matter what genre we are interested in.
I attended music courses at The Boston School of Contemporary Music, Thomas Jefferson College (MI), and have a BA double majoring in Music Composition and English at Columbia College Chicago.
Besides touring internationally as a Guitarist and Saxophonist, I am a Songwriter. Third Border's “Sun of Water; Sea of Light” was selected to be nominated for the Grammys as The Best Alternative Album of the Year in 2006. On this record, I played guitar, sang lead vocals and wrote all songs. If you are a songwriter, we can polish up your approach!
If you would like to learn how to compose a solo, a duet or ensemble, I can get you started in a low-stress, one-step-at-a-time procedure. As a composer, I have done sound design for film, dance, spoken word and multi-media performance - most notably with renowned poet Anne Carson and former members of The Merce Cunningham Dance Co. As principal composer and conductor, I formed New York City's first full-on Saxophone Orchestra; a 13-member ensemble.
I hope to talk to you soon!
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
