Joe's strong music background and experience make him a good teacher. I'm positive that he would be excellent with a beginner. I only needed a refresher in knowledge and he has helped me a great deal. I would strongly recommend him for future students

Rodrigo is the best teacher! He has a keen understandings of main concepts of music and showed me the proper postures and fingerings of the instrument. While he was teaching me how to play the instrument, he also introduced me a various genres and styles of music. He is very knowledgeable of music theory such as chord transpositions, terminology, as well as the musical notations. He also was willing to modify the lessons to meet my needs and abilities so that I can be successful. He truly is a multi-talented teacher and very very nice one, too. Most of all, it was so fun to take lessons from him.

I've only had three lessons with Rodrigo but so far all of them have exceeded my expectations of a music instructor. Rodrigo is a great guy and accordionist. I like how I'm learning music theory along with my instrument because it will help me if I decide to learn more instruments. Thanks Rodrigo!

My daughter has really enjoyed her lessons. We started with four lessons and hope to continue. I really appreciate that Rodrigo is bilingual and can help her learn songs in Spanish and English.

Concetta was such a treat to have in our home! She came out all the way from NY to NJ for my mothers birthday, and though she is a beginner, emerged from the 1 hour lesson so inspired to keep practicing, able to fully complete her first song! She even did a little performance at the end on the lesson! She is a great people person, fun to talk to, and she really knows her stuff. Excellent choice!

I have learned more in just three lessons with Concetta than I learned after three months of once a week lessons with an instructor from a music store.

Concetta has a natural gift to teach and an ability to allow even a musical novice, like me, understand basic music theory.

This talented young lady eat, sleeps and breathes music.

When I met Concetta online, I had never played the Mandolin before. Now after 4 going on 5 months I am in the beginning stages of learning Vivaldi's Concerto for Mandolin. This feat was accomplished by Concetta's knowledge, understanding and compassion for this student who was clumsy, awkward and with little self confidence. I now know where I want to go with the Mandolin and with Concetta's guidance and wisdom, I know I will be given a strong foundation to achieve it. This has been the best experience for me and I know it will also be for you as well....:)
Rachel G. Hampton, VA

I have a music performance degree (violin) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and I've been teaching music for over 10 years! I play with an internationally touring Celtic group called Tullamore, and in addition to mandolin, I teach fiddle and guitar. Let's get you playing some great music today!

About Rachel

Hi, there! My name is Rachel, and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2002, and have loved helping my students learn to read and play, discover their own love of music, and conquer their fears of performing (so much "proud mama bear" happening!). In 2003, I earned my violin performance degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I also studied piano and vocal pedagogy. I'm an encouraging and fun person to work with (if I may say so myself!), and my teaching style is fun, positive, and relaxed. I have worked with many students, including some with learning disabilities, physical limitations, PTSD, and just plain ol' stage fright! I work with you to set your own goals, and I look forward to helping you reach them... It's what I love about what I do.

I always wanted to learn to play an instrument and started taking lessons both in person and over Skype with Rachel after finding her website. I could not be happier with the job she has done teaching someone like me with no previous musical knowledge. Lessons are always entertaining, Rachel is very encouraging and supportive but pushes you to constantly improve. She has also been very professional and flexible with lessons and availability. Could not be more pleased.

I have always wanted to learn to play the piano. I am 68 now so it’s about time. I saw Rachel’s ad and decided to give it a try. She is very knowledgeable and the lessons are actually fun and the time goes by quickly. I am glad that I called her. I like taking lessons from someone who performs.

About Mandolin

The mandolin has a distinct and sustained home in American bluegrass and country music made popular by Bill Monroe, the father of bluegrass. This instrument features eight strings and can be played as a rhythm instrument or lead like a violin or guitar. However, it is a while the mandolin is similar to these instruments it is most definitely a different instrument altogether. For example, the approach when playing the mandolin differs from what one would learn with the violin or the guitar. If you want to learn the correct technique in playing the mandolin, we suggest that you consider signing up for our mandolin lessons. Our lessons can help shape your talent in playing this unique-sounding instrument. In addition, through your mandolin lessons you can learn more about its application in ...
