About Me

I am a Florida native, active doctoral student, music teacher and composer. My career is to perform, write, and record regularly as a guitarist and teach in upper-level academia. My grade school academic strengths and enthusiasm were represented in my math studies---from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calc. The math equivalent in music is music theory, which is another passion of mine. I hope to take these rounded characteristics to teach and influence others with what I have learned in my education and career thus far.

While using the tools given to us as teachers and students, we can treat the heart of a topic with refinement to fully grasp the purpose and reason---to ultimately find the life that lies deep within...whether its math or music.

About Me

Hi, I'm Glenn. Thank you for viewing my profile. I've been teaching students for over 20 years, playing all styles and levels of music, from day-one beginners to seasoned pros seeking to sharpen their playing skills. I teach both traditional notation and tablature, writing my own teaching methods in both formats. I can transcribe any song or solo for you, and can arrange the music to fit your particular level of skill.

I earned a B.A. in Music Composition and an A.A. in music theory, and have worked as a professional musician since graduation. I play in a variety of bands that cover rock, jazz, surf, oldies, and country, and also write and arrange music for those bands as well as writing my own music that can be heard on my own YouTube channel.

The first song I learned to play was "Pipeline." I own and play several acoustic and electric guitars, as well as ukuleles, mandolins, bass guitars, and lap steel guitars. I'm personable and patient, and my lessons include songs, techniques, and instruction for improving your musical skills. I look forward to meeting you and having fun learning and playing music together.

-Glenn

About Me

I am primarily a composer, guitarist, tenor, pianist and percussionist and I love sharing what I have learned with others and watching my students develop and grow. My goal is to teach my students until they are better than me, so I hold no secrets, tricks or techniques back and I devote my time and energy to help others become the best musicians, artists and people they can be.I have a BA in music composition and a BA in music history, both from California State University, San Bernardino. I play the guitar, bass, piano, drums, orchestral percussion, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, recorder, harmonica and didgeridoo with varying levels of proficiency and have experience in music theory, songwriting, recording, MIDI, arranging, singing (contemporary, broadway and opera), and acting/performing. I have performed in The United States, Austria, Spain, Australia and New Zealand and have 13 years of experience, development, mistakes and successes to offer my students. I love learning new things and have been teaching as a profession since 2007. I am also First Aid & CPR certified, Live Scan fingerprinted, FBI background checked, Safe Environment trained and a Child Abuse Mandated Reporter.

*** Lesson Details ***
I do not use a set curriculum. I prefer to discuss goals and music with my students and their parents to determine what genres, styles and techniques they are most interested in. I then use techniques I have gained through experience along with songs and classical exercises to develop strong technique, a developed ear and the ability to read music. I do expect students to be disciplined, practice regularly, and be prepared for lessons, enabling them to expect the same from me. Whether a student wants to be a classical virtuosi or learn how to play a song they heard on the radio, I will keep the lessons fun and interesting for anyone willing to practice and learn, and I will always to my best to cater to the student's individual needs and goals.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide all copies of music, handouts, exercises, etc. Students are expected (when applicable) to have an instrument in good, working condition.

*** Travel Equipment ***

*** Specialties ***
I form all of my lessons around being able to learn, memorize and play songs, read written musical notation (along with sight-reading & technical exercises), and improvisation (based on scales and exercises).

For guitar and it's relatives (bass, mandolin, ukulele, banjo) I can teach any style or genre of music, including modern tapping techniques, and I also teach TAB notation.

I teach both classical and popular piano, usually combining classical sight reading exercises while learning both classical and popular repertoire.

I have experience acting and singing on stage in both non-musical and musical productions, as well as five years of classical vocal experience singing in high school and collegiate ensembles. Being in these environments has equipped me with the tools and exercises to be able to teach everything from basic singing to fundamentals in broadway and opera.

I also have a small studio in my home where I write and record, providing me with the opportunity to also teach recording, songwriting and music theory.

Subjects Taught

Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Blues Guitar, Classical Guitar, Classical Piano, Country Guitar, Drum, Guitar, Mandolin, Music Theory, Piano, Ukulele

About Me

I've been playing music for over 20 years. I've been teaching for over 10 years. My main instrument is guitar but I also play and teach piano, drums, uke and bass. I play with two acts in the area: Nataly Lola (acoustic covers) and We Were Superheroes (original rock). I am constantly listening to new alternative music (98.7 and AltNation) as well as learning the classics for the cover band. I never have a bias for a song and am always surprised when the pop song on the radio is actually quite clever when broken down to its roots. As a teacher I cater to the student. I've taught Old Country, Jazz Theory, New Metal, Russian Ska (yup!) and anything else that you want to learn.

About Mandolin

The mandolin has a distinct and sustained home in American bluegrass and country music made popular by Bill Monroe, the father of bluegrass. This instrument features eight strings and can be played as a rhythm instrument or lead like a violin or guitar. However, it is a while the mandolin is similar to these instruments it is most definitely a different instrument altogether. For example, the approach when playing the mandolin differs from what one would learn with the violin or the guitar. If you want to learn the correct technique in playing the mandolin, we suggest that you consider signing up for our mandolin lessons. Our lessons can help shape your talent in playing this unique-sounding instrument. In addition, through your mandolin lessons you can learn more about its application in ...
