You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules. This is how you develop your own unique style. And it's what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.
But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's ok too!
I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students.
That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians.
Bottom Line Is... I can help you learn and progress on your instrument faster...
Let me be the Music Coach to get you there!

Hey there My name is Charles, but I prefer to be called Kris. I was born in Montgomery Alabama, but became a south Florida native after relocating to south Florida at a young age. I began playing drums at age eight and making music has been my passion since. At age thirteen one of my middle school music teacher took interest in me and taught me how to play the euphonium. Shortly after I was learning how to play the trombone.
Upon graduating I began exploring my love for music; as I began attending Dillard's high school. There I joined the band and began touring to play at different schools, events, and competitions.
As my high school career came to an end, I was accepted to Florida A&M University with a music scholarship.
Today I am working towards my Bachelors of Music at Florida Memorial University. And also perform at local events throughout south Florida, and teaching youths throughout the city. I love traveling, meeting new people, listening to and playing music, exploring new cultures, food, and music :-D!!!!
Member of Miami Heats Band, Marching 100, member of Florida Memorial University Band, CEO of McKays Music, and the list goes on but most importantly I love Music, love learning and teaching Music

I have been playing with classical ensembles and rock bands since 2001. Even though I started on classical trombone and rock guitar, I have come to expand my repertoire to a variety of instruments and genres. During my time in college I performed with the University choir, orchestra, and band. I also have organized, wrote/arranged for, and performed with a variety of bands in my home state of New Mexico, as well as Japan, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Since 2006 I have been an active teacher. This profession has taken me everywhere from working with classical guitar classes in New Mexico high schools to Elementary students in Japan to a variety of private students of various musical instruments and genres everywhere I've been. Since relocating to the Bay Area in 2010, I've had the pleasure of working with lots of great students from kids to adults with a wide range of ambitions. More recently I've also started teaching online lessons via Skype with Take Lessons as well.
I received my Bachelor of Music Education with Honors from New Mexico State University in 2008. During the course of my degree I had a special focus on classical guitar and composition, but completed a program certifying teachers for band, orchestra, choir, and general music from kindergarten to high school. I also received my Level 1 Orff certification (music education for small children) from the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.

Originally from Indiana, David has been teaching music in both the private and public school sectors for 12 years. Getting his start as a drumline instructor with only 4 students, David soon expanded his teaching to include both guitar and piano, which he studied under Frank Puzzulo (of Miles Davis' group) at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
Upon graduating Ball State, David moved to Colorado to study jazz and classical music with Dr. Douglas Walter, an accomplished percussionist who is known for his versatility and multiple percussion talents. He also studied piano and guitar in his off time, jamming with several rock and jazz groups both in and out of school.
In 2006, David left the college scene with a Masters in Music and moved to Florida where he began his teaching career. In Florida, David taught roughly 70 students, ages 5 to 18, at Wewahitchka High School and Middle School. He was beloved by the town, helping out in the community as a local organist for the Presbyterian Church and as a frequent contributor to Wednesday night worship.
As wonderful as this time was, David gave up the gators and swamps to move back home to Indiana in 2007. Here, he took a job at Kokomo High School and Maple Crest Middle school where he resumed teaching students from 5th graders to seniors in all areas of music, including wind, strings/guitar and percussion. David established the first ever "rock and roll" class at the high school in 2008, a program that started with only 5 students and has ballooned to 38 in this current year! The class consisted of guitars, keyboards, bass and drums, all of which David can teach at a professional level.
Most recently, David graduated with his second Masters in Jazz Performance from DePaul University. He studied primarily with professor Ron Perillo, unquestionably the most innovative piano player in Chicago and with Bob Palmieri, a gifted guitarist. Having now graduated, David is devoting himself full time to teaching private students and looks very much forward to working with you!

I graduated from from Wheaton College in Massachusetts last May with a Bachelors in Music.
I am excited to tailor classes specifically to a student, finding out what he/she is interested in learning so each lesson is fun but also productive. I have been on both sides of the student experience, and I know that I was always way more eager to go to a lesson when we were playing or learning something that I had chosen.
I am proficient in both Drums and Guitar (acoustic and electric) and have a studio in my basement perfect for teaching lessons from. I also plan on mixing in chart reading and some music theory with both Drums and Guitar to all level of players...But don't worry, it will only be to help you understand more fully what you are learning.
I hope to inspire students to find their own specific taste in music, and think creatively ALWAYS. These two things are the cornerstone of a well rounded musician.

My first musical memories are jamming with his father Robert (who plays guitar) in a make-shift garage music room in his hometown of San Diego. I soon discovered a love of and fascination with drumming that led me to pursue music as a lifelong passion.
In 2001 I received a B.A. in music from San Diego State University, where I studied classical theory, sang in choirs, took every jazz course available, and played in West African/South Indian drumming ensembles.
