Doug started playing guitar after he realized that the trumpet, besides only being able to play one note at a time, was just not as sexy & cool as the “six stringed siren of the ’60s & 70s”. After 2 years of playing he started teaching guitar in a local Toledo OH area music store on the day of his 16th birthday, expanding to students spread over two stores and his home and playing with old time 50′s rockers “Johnny & The Hurricanes” before leaving to study at Boston’s Berklee College of Music for two years at 19.
After Berklee and a few years of playing all over Canada in show bands, theatre, etc. while based out of Toronto, he moved to Los Angeles to finish up his guitar studies at Musician’s Institute. I have 40 years of Music Educational experience. Starting with a B.A. in Music Education and a B.S. in Music Composition & Theory. Both degrees are from Eastern Washington University.

I had the pleasure of teaching at King's Schools in Seattle, and Christ the King Academy in Poulsbo, Washington with a total of 8 years between the two. This included teaching Beginning and Intermediate Band classes for Elementary students. Band classes for the Jr. High and High School, Jazz Ensembles, Brass Ensembles, Orchestra and String Ensembles.

I also taught Choir for Elementary, Jr. High and High School, along with a special Vocal Ensemble.

Another fun thing I got to do was also coach teams in football, baseball, gymnastics, track and golf.

Since my Senior year in College I have been teaching private music lessons on many instruments. Because of my musical training, I am able to play and teach on all the Band and Orchestra instruments, including Combo instruments.

I have performed as an actor and a singer throughout Southern California, and also in France. I have extensive training in vocal pedagogy and opera, and also more than 15 years of experience playing guitar. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in vocal performance and Opera, and it will be my second Master's, the first one being in audio engineering and music composition.

I have taught private guitar, piano, bass and drum lessons since the late 70s in Salt Lake City, where I majored in jazz guitar performance, and since 1980 in Los Angeles. I make the lessons fun. Some of my students have received college scholarships and won cash prizes for music contests. All of them had fun while learning and improving on their instruments.

I attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston, and I have a BA in Music. I am a working pro musician, regularly playing all different kinds of gigs with different bands, as well as solo, and regular gigs on TV. I have taught music lessons, and guitar in particular, for 17 years. I play all styles, but my favorites are Rock, R&B, Country, Rockabilly, and Blues (I also enjoy playing jazz, classical, and other styles as well). My main instruments are guitar (electric and acoustic) and voice, but I play keyboards, bass, mandolin, and drums also.

I am a musician through and through, my earliest memories are of feeling the magic of music and it has been my surest friend ever since! One of the best things about music is that anyone can be moved by it and I want to be able to share that incredible feeling with everyone, to not just love music but create and participate in music.

I am a former student of Dave Creamer, (Miles Davis, teacher of Joe Satriani, Jason Becker) Steve Trovato,(MI,GIT, USC studio and jazz guitar dept.) and Jamie Glaser (Jean-Luc Ponty). I have been a professional guitarist and teacher for over 30 years, having taught thousands of students, and continue to perform today in the Los Angeles area.

I have been playing music since I was about 13 years old. I initially started out on guitar but I quickly picked up mandolin, banjo, and ukulele thanks to the great theoretical tools I'd learned from my first teacher! I started studying alto saxophone around the same time I picked up guitar and began extensively studying violin a few years later.

I quickly began writing songs and at 15, I recorded my first album of original material with production help from Grammy award winning producer/guitarist Joe Reyes. Joe and I would go on to make four other records together and I would wind up doing string arrangements for one of his albums as well.
