Hi! My name is Barbee and I have over eight years of experience teaching singing, piano, speaking voice, and music theory. I have taught both children and adults, male and female, with all levels of experience and many different musical goals, from beginners to working professionals. I have performed in Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, and the US, in operas, musicals, oratorios, concerts, and recitals. I hold a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Florida. I strive to create a lesson environment that is open and honest, where my students are never afraid to ask questions or try something new. I am always happy to explain concepts in a different way and ...
My teaching is very much influenced by my certification in Somatic Voicework™ The Lovetri Method. It is a body-based method of vocal training which is based upon voice science and medicine, traditional classical training, and various bodywork approaches. If you're struggling in a particular area of your voice, I can help you work through those issues.
Regardless of where your musical interests lie, I can help you improve your skills! Growing up, I fell in love with playing and singing all styles of music! I've delved into classical, jazz, R&B, soul, gospel, reggae, soca, pop and musical theater, and I can teach you how to apply technique to the genre(s) of your choice! If you're looking to become a better singer, we will focus on finding the beauty and power in your voice in a healthy manner. Vocal health is an important component of everything I teach, and I work to eliminate strain and vocal fatigue. With a healthy foundation in place, we will fine tune your skills by addressing pitch accuracy, vocal control, phrasing, dynamics, expression and microphone technique. If you're interested in playing piano, you will learn how to ...
I grew up in a household of classical musicians.
Father is a conductor, mother is opera singer and older brother also an opera singer. My living room was basically the opera house and my parents, my brother and myself performed there every day.
Later on I studied classical voice, first with my mother, then at Prayner Conservatory in Vienna, for three years and then with private instructors ever since.
I still visit my classical teacher here in New York, every now and then, to check my technique.
I teach classical bel canto technique and repertoire.

I am confident in my ability to teach beginners through advanced singers as I have actively taught private voice lessons for over 30 years.
I bring 30 years performing and coaching experience to my students. I have performed as featured soloist at events ranging from Miss Texas Pageant and cruise ships to guest artist with several symphony orchestras. I have enjoyed singing with the Fort worth and Dallas operas as well as traveling with national Broadway touring shows.. I obtained my Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Texas and have studied with former Metropolitan Opera stars and Maestro for the Dallas Opera. Each student is different, therefore I adjust my teaching technique accordingly. I want all of my students to be successful, so we begin where this can happen and then work up from there. I am classically trained and believe that a classical basis should be the foundation for all styles of
I can write a book about "opera voice". Come for a lesson and you will see what I am talking about.
“The title role of Hrabina was performed by Malgorzata .., displaying the full scale of her unusual voice.” Kurier Plus, 24.04.2010. New York "Malgorzata ... who sang Rosina, handled the demands of Rossini's tricky lines with aplomb." New York Daily News, 03.10.08. “The big treat of the evening was Polish soprano Malgorzata ... performing Janis' original composition "The Warmth of Christmas" with the Maestro himself accompanying her! Thunderous applause followed the very last note of the Christmas classic.” Hi there! I have been teaching private lessons since 2011. I helped students to bring out the voices they never thought they had, to build their vocal technique with attention to fine tuning and freedom of their apparatus, expanding their vocal scale and gaining ...
All styles of singing are founded on the basic principles of healthy technique: airflow and resonance.
I received my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Kansas, and my Master's of Music and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University. It was during the rigorous Advanced Certificate program that I received the majority of my training as a voice teacher. The program accepts 15 students per year from a pool of international applicants and covers acoustics, anatomy, voice disorders, formants, vocal repertoire, and practical lab applications. The pitfall that many teachers encounter is that they only can teach other singers "what has worked for them." Instead I have been trained to teach according to your specific needs. I am able to teach singers of all levels from the very beginning to very advanced.
