Paul M. New York, NY

My goal as a teacher is to make students successful in their goals. I work with a variety of people; some of them study music for personal enjoyment and others for their musical career. Everyone responds differently to music, that is why I prepare special lessons for each student. It is important that my students enjoy what they are playing and for that reason I have a variety of repertoire that they can choose from.
From a lot of experience with beginner piano students, both young and adults, I have been able to find a regimen of piano teaching that combines time efficiency with fun. As the lessons continue, I slowly add new tools to each weekly lesson that are exiting and interesting. While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and ...

Paul is an amazing musician, teacher and individual. Over the course of a few weeks he specifically evaluated my singing and worked with me in order to improve my singing. With every lesson that I had, I was able to notice real improvement in my voice. Paul also exposed me to a wide array of musical styles, in order to better get to know my voice which I thoroughly enjoyed. He is very encouraging and friendly, from the first lesson he already works to help you feel comfortable.

All in all, by having Paul as an instructor you get to learn from an amazing, accomplished musician who truly knows his field and who also has a great personality while being a great teacher, I think that sums it up pretty well.

Paul is an excellent piano teacher. I came to him having forgotten how to read music after not playing for 10 years. I wanted to bring piano music back into my life. Gradually, over 4 months, I recovered everything I had previously forgotten and have progressed quickly with his patient yet encouraging and inspirational teaching style. Paul has introduced me to a wide range of music, which has pushed my piano playing to improve in all directions and on new levels. It has been a wonderful experience, and I am excited to continue and see where the music takes me.

I can help you

"I can help you" were words like music to my ears. Stephen quickly found areas of my vocalization that I could change to make instant improvements. He's been great in getting my confidence up and making singing enjoyable.

Develop and improve your vocal technique.
Get a bigger sound and wider, fuller range through specific exercises for your voice type.
All styles and levels welcome.

This approach to singing will allow you to comfortably and confidently express yourself musically.

When it comes to privet lessons, I adjust to different vocal needs and personalities. Some people need to have fun in the process, some people are more serious . Some people focus and understand music and exercises easily. Some others will need more patience, further explanation, graphic examples and even games. I will do what it takes for someone to get things right and I won't be condescendant, but I'll always be respectful and will recognize and point out every little achievement and step forward. Not only for encouragement proposes, but also for people to realize for themselves what's well done and what path to follow to become better and more independent after every lesson. I like using images and analogies to

Excellent instructor with an impeccable understanding of vocal technique.

After a ten-year hiatus, I decided to take vocal lessons again. I am amazed at my improvement after just three lessons. Guadalupe is patient, understanding, and very knowledgeable when it comes to vocal technique and how to execute it properly. She can teach vocalists of various styles and backgrounds with great ease because she truly understands the physiological, articulatory, and functional properties of the voice. Guadalupe also has great ears. She suggested I see a throat doctor because a few minutes into my first lesson, she heard what she thought was slight vocal information. The following week her suspicions were medically confirmed and now I am getting the proper course of treatment to eliminate this condition. I am very lucky to have her on my side as I get my voice ready for conservatory level study.

About Elliott

I am a classically trained singer living, working, and teaching in NYC. I have a degree in vocal performance from The University of Maryland at College Park. While in the D.C. Metro area I performed as a chorister and soloist at The National Shrine, Metropolitan A.M.E Church, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Elliot is a gem! He is everything I wanted in an instructor!

I met Elliot through a friend who is also taking lessons from him. As a beginner I was very specific in what I wanted in a teacher--someone who is patient, kind, structured and has no problem starting with the very basic fundamentals in singing. Elliot took me on as a student and has proven to be everything I could have hoped to find in a teacher! Lesson after lesson I feel more confident and capable. I feel stronger in my voice and become more and more excited for singing. Elliot's knowledge of singing technique are showcased throughout the lesson as he explains exactly what is needed to be adjusted in your technique and his patience is key to a full understanding of what is needed to be done. I highly recommend Elliot to any singer looking to train their voice, maintain technique, or broaden their range!

The total package

I have been studying with Elliott for almost two years now and I could not be happier with the progress that we have made. Not only is he very good at communicating what I need to improve upon in the lesson, but also to help me to understand myself so that I remember and make it a habit. He's very reliable and professional, but also he makes a comfortable environment where one feels at ease and never afraid to voice opinions or concerns. I cannot wait to see where this next year takes us. :) He's also great with giving a healthy balance of encouragement in addition to critique.

This is my specialty. I am an advocate for good technique- something that is often overlooked. After all, we have one of the only instruments that you can't take to the shop to return or have it fixed if you mess it up.

In lessons, we will learn how to use your voice in a way that is healthy and expressive of your artistry. We will discover this through exercises and repertoire of your choice (if you wish).
