Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Miss M. began playing clarinet at the age of 10 and two years later, switched to alto saxophone. In 2004, Miss M. began volunteering as a saxophone instructor at Hornedo Middle School's Summer Band program. By 2006, she was the woodwind instructor for the summer program, working along side her mentor, Jorge Avendaño. In her three summers of volunteering, Miss M. taught over 200 beginner flute, clarinet and saxophone students.
This experience prepared Stephanie with the tools she needed to create her own personal studio. In 2006, Miss M. began teaching beginner and intermediate saxophone and clarinet students. From beginning to advanced students on all horns, I teach the fundamentals of saxophone technique to all students using exercises I design based on the exact needs of each individual student, occasionally drawing on existing literature as well. In addition to fundamental technique for all students (sound production, scales, arpeggios, etudes etc.) I help students develop general musical skills (sight reading, stylistic affectations specific to genre, improvisation, and more) depending upon their needs and interests. Finally, I make sure students know HOW to practice, teaching them techniques and attitudes that will ensure that their practice is effective and aiding them in improving consistently (and, at times, very rapidly).

It is my goal as a teacher to strengthen a student's ability to learn independently and develop themselves both musically and personally with their unique passions as their guide. Subjects covered will include instrumental technique, effective practice techniques/time management, theory, ear training, and improvisational concepts, according to the needs of each individual student at any given time. The latter four subjects I can teach to any person on ANY instrument. I ...

I've been playing Saxophone for 10 years now. Ranging from Funk Bands, to Big-bands, Musical Pits, Rock/Jazz/Pop Studio sessions etc.
I cannot count the amount of teachers I have had. However, I consider that my most influential teacher for saxophone to be Kevin Garren, pro·té·gé of the great Eric Marienthal. He whipped me into shape and now I can do the same for you.
Currently, Ryan is a Senior studying at Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. He plays most woodwind instruments & keyboard, but primarily saxophone/flute. http://RyanGreenfield.com
