Aaron O. Ardmore, PA

About Aaron

Aaron's joy of
teaching music has stemmed from his passion for learning as well as his ever
growing love for music. Aaron has been a student of the music since the age of
12 years old. After becoming a church musician at a very early age, he was enrolled
in the historical settlement music school where he learned guitar and
music theory. One of the most important steps however in his musical training
was getting trained in Jazz studies by professional Jazz
musicians. During this time he received numerous music scholarships such as the
Tony Williams Jazz scholarship and the Amos music scholarship upon entering
college.

Aaron since has focused on music
production having written music for "Real
World Road Rules" and "MTV exposed." He ...

Professional and Passionate

Aaron has been a great teacher. He exemplifies the qualities of a successful teacher: patience, honesty, knowledgeable and passion for the guitar. I would absolutely recommend him as a guitar teacher.
Nero C. Philadelphia, PA

Technique, Phrasing, Tone.
From Bach to Leo Brouwer.

About Nero

I have been teaching music for 16 years. I grew up on the 2nd floor of my father's music store in Central PA and have been around music my whole life. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of the Arts where I studied jazz guitar with Pat Martino, Jimmy Bruno, Steve Giordano, and Tom Giacabetti. I was one of the original teachers during the formative years at the Paul Green School of Rock Music where I later went on to be the Music Director of the Philadelphia and Downingtown Schools. During that time, I helped many students prepare and get accepted to music schools, ran and developed music summer camps, and organized concerts where the students performed the music of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and many more of rock's finest band at every ...

Mandolin Lessons

I recently started playing mandolin on my own - and decided to take lessons to make sure that my technique was correct. -- All I can say is that Nero is the best music teacher I have ever had - not to mention, a gifted musician. He makes learning fun, and his approach and patience allows you to easily pick up new techniques and skills. I hope to take lessons with Nero for a long time!!!!

My first Flamenco Guitar lesson

Had my first lesson with Nero. Nero was very patient and the lesson progressed at a comfortable pace. He didn't bombard me with too much information yet identified learning moments at relevant times during the session that increased the value of our time. I played clarinet for about 6 years over 17 years ago and haven't touched a musical instrument since so I feel like a beginner... He was sensitive to my inexperience and led with the session with a relaxing demeanor.
Luis G. Ardmore, PA

About Luis

I am a husband and father of 3 girls [Elaine, Grace and Emma]. I studied Music Performance with a concentration in Classical Guitar at Eastern University, where I met my wife Allison who currently teaches Voice and Piano with Take Lessons. I just recently received my Honorable Discharge for 8 years in the US Army and work at The University of Pennsylvania in the School of Medicine. I am currently taking classes at the University of Pennsylvania to finish my degree in Music.

I'm very easy going and patient. I focus on technique and music reading skills rather than building repertoire. I would rather a student that is confident in their ability to play a few songs to a high standard than an unsure student that can play many to a lower standard.

As far as my own musical ...

Guitar
this teacher is the best

I think you should really pick Luis G. because he is very good at explaining things to me. Another thing I really like about having him as a teacher is that some times I forget he's my teacher ; I feel like he's one of my friends. That's somethings that I think is great because you can be open and not feel weird around him at all. I think He is really good at what he does and thats teaching Guitar and making people have fun with it!

Mike has been very patient and helpful and takes the time to carefully explain the instruction given. Besides being a great teacher Mike is very personable and that makes the lessons stress free. Taking lessons from an accomplished working musician is the best possible choice.
Thank you Mike for taking me on as a student!

Mike is the best!!

I always wanted to learn Violin, but at 26 I thought I'd never get very far. Mike is teaching me Improvisation so that I can jam with my bluegrass friends. After 9 months of lessons with Mike, I am starting to really understand my instrument and am able to jam with my friends! I never thought I would progress this quickly and I know that is all due to the way Mike has taught me and teaching me certain things every week that I can build on and practice at home. I definitely recommend Mike for lessons on any instrument, he is a talented multi-instrumentalist who is interested in all genres of music from classical to country, he is accessible and doesn't make you feel like an idiot when you don't get it right, but he is also tough enough on you that you progress very quickly. He is also interested in teaching you what you want to learn, the right way, so you can get the most out of your musical experience. Playing fiddle is now one of my favorite things to do, I get so much joy out of it, all thanks to Mike and a little hard work!! :)

We definitely recommend!

My son just started guitar (electric) and he's young-9. So getting him started on an instrument is no easy task but Mike is very patient and makes the lessons fun & interesting while teaching strong music structure. I can't believe how much they can cover in a half hour when it takes me a half hour just to get him to get his school homework binder out at home! I really look forward to watching my son progress. Great stuff!!

Nick W. Philadelphia, PA

I have studied classical guitar at Temple University with Allen Krantz. Lessons would start with Carcassi or Sor Etudes, Tennant techniques and Segovia scales.

About Nick

I've been playing guitar since I was 9. I'm from Washington, DC originally and have been based in Philadelphia since 2010. Living in such eclectic cities has introduced me to a wide variety of musical styles and has taught me to appreciate them all. I've played in rock, funk, go-go, folk, bossa nova, choro, hip hop and jazz groups and have studied classical and jazz styles at Temple University. I'm still currently enrolled at Temple finishing up a degree in Music Education with Jazz Studies.
I've been teaching since early high school and have always loved doing so. My students have ranged from ages 5 to 50 and I've had a blast playing with all of them.
