I like to teach in a relaxed atmosphere, making beginners feel like they can have fun while learning the cello. I cater to each individual student's needs, and set out goals based on each individual's motivation and drive. I teach out of the Suzuki method, but also like to teach songs at the student's request. I focus on relaxation and creating a nice sound out of the instrument. With practice, I believe any student can achieve their goals.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a music stand and chair while teaching from my home. If I travel to student's homes I expect them to provide a music stand.

I strongly believe that each student is an individual personality and differentiated instruction gives the best possible result. Every student has different cultural and social background and each of them deserves an equal start regardless of their differences, nor their talent. I employ patience and enthusiasm in my effort to pass my love and knowledge for classical music to my students. In 3 to 6 months with me they will be able to play some basic musical pieces with authority and confidence. For the violin/viola/cello students I am using a mix of classical and Suzuki methods. The very beginners will start with "Essential Elements 2000" and after the completion of this book the next step will be Suzuki books 1-6. For piano students I am using Bastien Piano Basics, Levels 1-4.

I like to emphasis a relaxed and gentle approach to the instrument. Making music should never cause you physical pain and so it's important to build a strong and solid technical foundation based on a balance between strength, flexibility and relaxation. Over time, this physical freedom allows for natural musical expression and creativity.

I always give my students the choice in the direction they like to take their lessons, whether it be learning simple tunes to perform for friends or mastering classical repertoire for the concert stage, I am open to lots of ideas! We always begin with assessing the student's musical goals and then form appropriate musical projects to work on. Meanwhile, we make sure to cover the necessary elements of music making, ranging from proper instrument position to music theory and musicality.

I also strongly encourage regular individual practice in order to reinforce what we learn. My aim as a teacher is to guide each student along on their own musical journey...

My focus is on making you the musician that you want to be. We will discuss and create a curriculum around what you want to be playing and the type of musician that you want to be. Looking forward to meeting you!

*** Travel Equipment ***
If I go to their home, they need 2 chairs and a stand.

*** Specialties ***
I've grown up studying with mostly eastern European and Russian teachers, so what is most important to me is that the body is comfortable playing. So many performers play with tension and it leads to tendonitis and all kind of stress related ailments. If the body is collapsed and you are using your weight to create sound, rather then muscles, you can play all day and not feel a thing.

Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Cello, Fiddle, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Piano, Singing, Songwriting, Viola, Violin

About Me

I produce and record my own and others' music which can be heard extensively in film and TV, has been toured internationally, and received international press recognition. I play and teach several instruments and genres of music and take your tastes and learning style into utmost consideration. I always begin with practical exercises to develop technique, then we can focus on playing the music you love.

To vocal students I will teach exercises that develop technique and allows you to explore your voice. I will help you learn to make sounds you love. Singing is created by breath and muscles which we have full access to. Anyone can learn with proper focus, care and practice. I can also help you with recording and microphone technique as this is my area of expertise!

For violin, viola and cello students, I teach a combination the Suzuki Method (learning through ear training) and traditional theory and sight reading. We can also explore fiddling, blues and the foundations of jazz and rock improvisation if you're interested.

For guitar students, you can choose the songs you learn or let me recommend ones appropriate for your skill level. We can incorporate music theory, classical repertoire and sight reading into the process in degrees of your choosing. We can also explore singing while playing, songwriting and recording technique when you feel ready.

I also teach beginner piano, which I recommend for anyone who wants to better understand the mechanics of music. We learn basic classical compositions, exercises, theory, and any song you choose.

Who knows what creativity learning music will inspire? You may eventually write songs and want to explore recording them. Our lessons are held in a top of the line pro-tools recording studio where you can learn recording technique from me at any point.

I'm a classically trained violinist as well as a pop musician. I am currently playing in a chamber group, Hudson River Stings, and am in a critically acclaimed band that tours internationally. My musical training includes private lessons with some fantastic musicians such as Raz Kennedy, Jennifer Turner, Bob Corff and Matte Henderson, as well as Jazz and vocal studies at S.U.N.Y. New Paltz, San Francisco City College, and Los Angeles City College.

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a laid back teacher who will give you a push when you need it! Music is joyful above all else and sometimes it's incredibly satisfying to work hard. We can talk candidly about your musical goals to determine how rigorously or casually we want to approach your lessons and practice schedule.

*** Studio Equipment ***
P.A. and vocal microphones, acoustic, electric and bass guitars, violin, cello, midi piano and pro-tools studio.

I provide sheet music and a practice CD for my voice students.)

*** Specialties ***
