I started taking Violin and Piano lessons at age 7. By the age of 12 I was performing recitals and was Concert Master of my elementary school orchestra. In high school I was first chair, and learned to conduct the orchestra. I attended Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield Missouri. I created my own string quartet while studying there. I studied Violin under Mr. Harold King, who was a good friend of Jascha Heifetz and was his roommate in Chicago where they studied music together. I have studied Violin and Piano with many other instructors, including Tony Bennet and Peggy Lee's recording pianist. I studied modern and jazz piano with Paul Horn's Jazz Group. Sue L., violinist, pianist, composer, working musician and teacher, graduated from Portland State University in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in music. In 1996 she won two Medals of Distinction from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London, England for violin performance and music theory. Also, in 2001 she received a Merit Award from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London, England for viola performance. Sue has performed in musical pit orchestras, string quartets, the Vancouver Symphony, and rock, jazz and blue grass bands in the Vancouver, Portland Metro area. Sue plays all the stringed instruments and piano in various venues.

I have a Master’s in Opera Performance from the Boston and New England Conservatories as well as graduating from Vocal Performance programs at Boston University and Western Washington University. I have sung professionally with Boston Lyric Opera, Children’s Theater Companies, churches and synagogue. I love to premier new music and have toured in Athens, Greece. I have worked with small children as a Musikgarten teacher as well as touring artist residency programs which introduce children to music and theater in schools.

My students have had successful auditions for college opera programs and music theater productions They gain a larger vocal range and an easy, natural way of singing whether it is in a rock band or a church choir. Together we find the joy of singing as well as building a singing technique.

I have taught at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University and local music studios as well as maintaining my private teaching practice.

I'm a passionate, fun-loving guitarist that specializes in jazz and funk, but I enjoy working with all genres, depending on what YOU - the student - wants! Music is an exciting adventure that I want to share that with all students and music lovers alike, be it through one-on-one-lessons, impromptu jam sessions, or performances.I received my degree in music performance from Knox College in Galesburg, IL, where I performed with various groups and discovered the joys of teaching. After receiving multiple awards and distinctions, performing with modern jazz greats, and studying under some of the finest musicians in the Midwest, I'm eager to share and develop my knowledge with other students, and through such reveal how much fun guitar can be.

I started teaching music lessons at the age of eleven, in after school programs. I continued to do this for many years, driving to neighboring towns, volunteering at youth groups and local Boys and Girls Clubs.

I went on to study Music Education at Oregon State University and Guitar Performance at the University of Oregon. At each of these Universities I taught students my age, and a few professors, as well as locals in each town.

I continue to teach in Portland, and volunteer at two recording studios around town. I can and will provide references to each new student upon request.

Mark holds a Master of Music from the University of Missouri. He teaches piano, voice, violin, and composition. His students range from pre-schoolers to adults and include all skill levels, from beginner to professional. Mark is a faculty member at the Community Music Center and Multnomah Arts Center where we directs the choirs. He is also an Associate Conductor with the Pacific Youth Choir where we directs the boys choir.
In addition to teaching, Mark is actively involved in Portland's classical music scene. He sings with the Portland Symphonic Choir, Oregon Symphony, and as the tenor soloist at the First United Methodist Church.

I am an award-winning composer. I write for solo piano, instrumental ensemble with and without vocals, choir, and orchestra. I've produced produced five CDs of original music and two books of music, one a compilation of piano solos and the other a book of teaching pieces for piano. Big inspirations are nature, spiritual philosophy, and my students.

I teach in Portland, Oregon. I also present workshops around the country for teachers about teaching composition and notation to beginning music students, a method which helps develop creative skills and makes music theory relevant. I also direct "Create Your Own Musical" workshops for children.

Chuck recently moved to Portland, Oregon from Gainesville, Florida, where he was a staple of the music teaching and performing community for more than 25 years. Originally from Chicago, Chuck completed his BA in Music History and Masters of Music (MM) at the University of Florida. Chuck became obsessed with The Beatles when he began piano lessons at age 12. His first attempt at composing was actually improvising melodies over the ending chords to "Hey Jude". Along with playing Beatles tunes Chuck learned classic standards from a set of Reader's Digest Songbooks inherited from his grandmother.

Chuck has performed with classic rock, top 40, funk, R&B, and jazz groups, and has served as an opening act for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and legendary Texas bluesman Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown.
