EDUCATION

My musical education began while sitting on my mother's lap as she taught piano lessons. I began studying cello with a member of the Kansas City Philharmonic at age 9, and at age ten, I followed in my mother's footsteps to play the flute. I played all three instruments, (piano, cello and flute) until high school when it was became clear to me that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher. With this dream in mind, I began playing the violin as well.
I graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's in Music Education in 1989 and again in 1999 with a Master's degree.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

As a youngster, I was the youngest member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony and the Kansas City Cello Choir performing with these two groups for eight years. I was chosen from applicants nation wide, to perform in Carnegie Hall and travel Europe with "America's Youth in Concert" and I was a three time All-Stater.

I have been happily playing music for over 12 years now and it has always been the light in my day. Now it is my hope to shed that same light onto you or your child. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience, even more importantly I LOVE teaching and I LOVE music with a passion. I have been playing an instrument since the 4th grade (cello) and, as I learned how music works, was slowly able to pick-up a greater variety instruments with an increasing degree of ease. In high school, I decided to pick-up the guitar just to "have fun and rock out". I joined a band, played in the high school orchestra, joined the high school jazz band and began to practice songwriting and cover songs - at this point, guitar had become my primary instrument. I have a bachelor's of music from Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music. I am also a graduate of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts with awards in both regional and state competition.

Marc is an instrumentalist, artist, and music educator. He is currently attending Cal State Northridge as a music major. He specializes in cello, drums, and piano. Marc has years of experience with playing in orchestras, rock bands, writing and performing with various song writers, along with experience in recording studios.

Since 2010 Marc has worked as a private music teacher one on one with students along with running a music class through Music Star Academy.

I've been teaching piano, cello, voice and theory in Los Angeles for over thirty years, helping students develop their particular interests in music and to encourage them to reach their personal goals. I love the classics but many of my students want to play popular music, contemporary sounds and jazz and that is fine too. I received my BA in music at UCLA and a Master's at Cal State Northridge. I conduct vocal and bell choirs, run a concert series, play chamber music, sing in a band and teach in the Community College District in addition to running my private studio.
