I cannot learn something without wanting to immediately begin sharing what I know. That's what inspired me to begin teaching, and it continues to drive me today.

My credo is, "Take fun seriously." There is a reason we say that we "play" music; it is meant to be entertaining, for the listener and the performer. I know you want to learn to play an instrument so that you have one more pleasure in your life, and not to take up a new profession. But I also assume the highest potential in my students. If something is worth learning, it's worth learning well. My goal is for people to say to each other, "There seem to be a lot of good guitarists coming out of the Madison area. What's in the water?" My bottom line: Whatever your personal objectives, it is my job to discover them and help you meet them, whether you're interested performing at the campfire or the concert hall.

If you do not live nearby, we can learn together through online chat via FaceTime, Skype, or Google Hangout. I ...

So far so good. Very patient as mistakes after mistake was made. Corrected quite a few mistakes I was making so that my habits would be good habits from the start. Let me talk to myself as I messed up and complimented me when I was on the right track.

complete novice; adult student. First lesson very relaxed. Excellent blend through-out lesson of questions and information my goals and background as well as instructor's goals for me and his background. First "technical" part of lesson was manageable and care taken by Lyle to make sure I understood what was being presented. I left the first lesson feeling this would be a good fit between instructor and student

See "Guitar" for more information

One of the most versatile styles of guitar and one of the most fun styles to teach as there are near endless ways to play.

Things that I focus on start out with simple chord knowledge including voicing and progressions, and simple scale work. If the student is interested, I usually move into the more complex variety of mixing different scales and chords for a more colorful sound.

Heavy emphasis on improvisation at all levels.

About Christian
My name is Christian L. and I am a 28 year old guitar/music instructor in the Orlando area. My interest in guitar began when I was 12 years old and blossomed into a full time obsession about 3 years later when I started playing small gigs as a solo guitarist playing simple jazz and classical pieces for small art clubs and events. Alongside gigging, I also began teaching guitar, ear training, and music theory when I turned 18 and have been teaching full time ever since. During that time I also spent 4 years in music school for classical guitar. Currently I spend my time teaching, recording, and performing various styles including rock, jazz, pop, hip-hop, musical theater, metal, and country.

Throughout the 8 years I have been an instructor I believe I have refined my teaching style to be as versatile as possible to accommodate any learn
ing style a student may have. I am capable of teaching all styles of guitar at any skill level with an emphasis on ear training and general knowledge of guitar techniques.

Slight disclaimer in regards to lesson length, price, and student interest:

Over the past year or so I have tried a new teaching structure that I find to be quite rewarding for myself and the students I have had. My lessons do not have a maximum time limit, meaning a lesson could go for 2 hours, if that is what the student wanted, for the same price as a 45 min lesson.

This may sound strange in that I would be losing out on a large amount of potential money but the simple answer is this: I love music and guitar as well as teaching music and guitar. If we are in the middle of a great topic that you, the student, is really interested in, there is no way that I am simply going to stop talking about it when the "timer" stops and there is no way I am going to charge you more for getting into a topic you want to learn.

I find that students who spend more time in the lessons tend to become more interested in guitar and thus, better at playing. I do have to instill a minimum time limit of 45 mins however, any less is honestly just not enough time to get anything worth while accomplished.

One last thing, music and guitar have made up the majority of my daily routine for the past 10 or so years and have literally paid for everything that I currently own as I have never had any other type of job. What this means is that I take the craft very seriously and I project that in the lessons. Basically, if you are genuinely interested in learning guitar and music at any skill level, I will show you everything I possibly can to let you meet your goals. However, if you do not take it seriously, as in you don't pick up or even think about the guitar except for lesson days, the lessons may quickly feel pointless.

For more information on what I teach, feel free to look into the category entitled "Guitar" as well as any of the other subcategories that you are interested in.

Lessons with Christian have been very informative and fun. He is not only a talented player, but knowledgeable regarding music theory. Most importantly, he has the ability to teach and communicate concepts and and content in practical ways that are beneficial to the student.
He has been proactive, supportive and will go beyond time constraint in order to take advantage of the moment and accomplish the goal of each lesson.
So far, a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Wow wow wow. I had my first lesson with Christian, and he absolutely blew me away. Super talented musician. He has such a wealth of knowledge of the fretboard, musical theory, and different genres. I am into prog rock/metal and blues. I’ve never taken lessons before, and do not know scales or many chords, and christian identified exactly where to start off. He broke it down to a science and completely demystified the guitar. In small bite sized chunks we went for over two hours. It was a proper class with 1 on 1 personal attention. He is approachable with any question, and helps you understand the WHY of things, not just how to do something, which gives you such a stronger foundation to build off. I cannot wait for the next session.

I love blues from Stevie Ray Vaughn to Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Albert King.

About Mike
I teach all styles of music and all levels of ability

As I look back at my life, I see that music was my constant companion. My passion for music, and more specifically for the guitar, goes back to the time when, as a ten year old I received a guitar for my birthday. The sound of the instrument truly struck a chord in my heart and I learned to respect and love the instrument to the point that I thought of it almost as a companion, as something alive or, more exactly, as something my fingers could make come alive. At first I wanted to play rock and popular music, but eventually I switched to classical. When I entered the realm of classical music, a whole new world opened up for me -- new feelings, new emotions, and new challenges.
My enthusiasm for music continued, and beginning in 1990 I attended the Hartt School of Music, part of
the University of Hartford. I knew, of course, that the education of a musician is truly never finished, and between 1995 and 1997, I took Master Jazz Classes in New York City, under the direction of Dennis Cinelli, the international guitar player and soloist.
While in Florida, I attended classes at Florida International University. Between 2000 and 2003 I played in an orchestra on board the ships of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
All along the way I have been teaching the guitar at just about every level, an activity that I always enjoyed but admittedly is somewhat limiting. Teaching brings us back to the basics, but for a musician performing is what makes us grow professionally and satisfy us emotionally.

Learn; open chords and barre chords, minor pentatonic, major pentatonic and combined scales, blues scales, hammer on - pull off techniques, double stops, string bending and vibrato. These are just a few of the techniques we'll be covering while studying songs from all of the blues greats. We can pull up songs from founders of American music and focus on those players from England and The United States who seem to get it so well! Eric, Stevie Ray, look out! They'll be calling you "Blind Dog (insert your name) " before you know it! Don't forget, you can jam these tunes in group lessons for free as a private student at Chodosh Guitar!

About Michael
Hi, I'm Michael Chodosh. I have been a professional musician my entire life. I love playing, writing, performing, recording and I love teaching music.

The big difference about lessons with me is, I teach music, not just songs. Using a balanced approach, we study theory, scales, chord studies and arpeggios to understand the music. The results are easy to see. My students are my best referral.
It's fun for us both. I use systems to bring the best out of my students. I think everyone is happier when they reach their own potential while staying in their heart. My job is to help you do that on guitar! With your playing, whether that's just some strumming and reading or if you want to play standards like a pro or even shred like a monster. I can help guide you there and inspire you to reach those goals that you presently might not
even realize you can achieve!

Thank you for looking into lessons with me. You've either started or you're about to improve a wonderful relationship with music! - Michael.

I started taking lessons with Michal Chodosh to learn music theory and reading music. In the time I have worked with Michael, I have learned a lot. When I began lessons, I didn't know scales or modes, knew only basic chords and wasn't able to read sheet music. In addition to that, I was barely able to follow tablature. Michael has taught me about all of those items and more. Lessons with Michael are a lot of fun. There is always great interaction between students so that newer students can learn from both Michael and from other students while becoming comfortable with learning about the guitar. Deciding to take lessons from Michael was a great decision. I've thoroughly enjoyed learning how to play the guitar.

My introduction to Michael came when he sat in with a band I was playing with....I was so blown away by his playing, I ended up taking lessons from him.

Micheal has helped open up new frontiers in playing and theory for me without ever making me feel like a dummy for not knowing things. One of the best things about him is that his teaching style makes students feel comfortable, but also challenged.

Michael has the experience, patience, and knowledge to help everybody from beginners to working professionals learn and improve. Heck, he even taught me to sing my first legitimate vocal harmony.

Time with Michael Chodosh is time well spent!

I can play any number of styles from blues and country to hard rock and heavy metal I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I know music theory very well and I'm great with making the theory part fun to learn while teaching to play a style that the student prefers. I'm an easy going guy and really patient. I make the promise to every student that I will give them every bit of effort and support I can to propel them in their music career. I'm one of those people who gets along with everybody and I like to make my lessons fun for each student.

About Garrett
I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now and I've played in just about every type of band. After playing in a metal band for about 5 years I switched over to a classic rock group for a couple years. In both of those groups I was lead guitar/lead vocals. Now for the last few years I've been playing lead guitar in a country/rock band called Faith Bardill for a vocalist who has won several awards including best female country artist and best teen artist. I enjoy playing any style of music and I'm very excited to help new students realize their potential. I'm prepared to teach from home in a comfortable room I've dedicated to teaching and studio work. I'm also happy to go to the student for their convenience or give lessons online. My personal passion is to make music my life. I want to give lessons, play shows and record my
way through the years. I have enormous enthusiasm when it comes to music and I bring that to the lessons I give.

What can I say about Garrett. I have never met a better guitarist in my 20 years of playing. Taking lessons with him was one of the best decisions I ever made. I would pay him double. No matter the guitar style, Garrett seems to have played it for years and has real insight on any of the different styles from Blues, to Country, to Rock, to Classic Rock, to Metal. He helped me not just learn riffs or songs but scales and has bug in teaching me more advanced music theory as well. He truly is the perfect mix of good person and amazing guitarist. Don’t miss the chance to learn from one of the best no matter your skill level!

About Jeff
I started playing guitar at age 11 (41 as of this writing) and was active on stage as an actor before that, so I've been a performer my whole life. I've played original music in many genres, cover bands in multiple genres and even play in a tribute band. I started off pursuing technical ability and followed the popular "shred" guitar players. I then discovered "slower" blues players and brought more dynamics into my playing. I've taken a turn towards songwriting and music production and produce songs for myself and other clients. I truly love all types of music, whether rock, blues, jazz, funk, soul, heavy metal, classical, flamenco, world music, EDM, old-school country, musical-theater, etc. I love it all. There's a special place in my heart for Latin-jazz and heavy metal - for the raw passion of it - and EDM and funk, for the dance-abil
ity of it. Because in the end, we all want to move our bodies to music!

I have a passion for teaching and try to make lessons fun. I also have over 30 years teaching experience with a BME Degree in Guitar plus alot of graduate work. I have 16 years teaching experience in the Public School System. I've played in a Jazz group that toured around the Gulf Coast area. I've also held many Church Music positions. I love writing music and has written for many different genres.

About Brian
I am a Guitarist/Composer/Songwriter/Bassist/Vocalist with a Bachelor Of Music Education Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Classical Guitar emphasis. I've also recieved graduate work in Theory and Composition. I've also been teaching Guitar for over 30 years as well as being a Music Educator in the public school system for 16 years. I've held many Church Music positions in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area over the last 25 years. In addition, I just recorded a Jazz project entitled, "Graffiti Bridge" where I wrote and played most of the Guitar, Bass, and Keyboard parts. I've also led many choirs over my career and provided years of vocal instruction. I've written music for Solo Guitar, Strings, Concert Band, as well as Choral Music.
I love to share my passion for music with my students as they progress and grow as mu
sicians. Each student is different and I think that it is important for a teacher to communicate with the student to find out what their goals and aspirations are for their personal musical growth. In addition, their are certain things that I think are important for each student to know such as music reading, basic musicianship, playing with other musician at all levels, and understand genres, etc.
In addition, I think that it is important for a teacher to nurture the passion for music that hopefully is present in each student. A teacher cannot create passion but they can nurture it.
I look forward to the opportunity to share my musical knowledge and experience with you!
