A teacher of mine once said if you aim for perfection, you get to be pretty darn good. I like to start with a small amount of material that the student can play very well, and use that to refine the basics. By taking a thorough approach (and playing beautiful music), the entire world of piano and music will slowly and surely open up to the pupil.
In my opinion, tone production and rhythm are the major factors that distinguish a great pianist (and make playing the most satisfying), so this is the major focus of our work. I have a very thorough understanding of proper technique and can prescribe exercises that will strengthen one's weaknesses.
I also have a unique background in that I studied jazz improvisation and classical composition, so I understand the inner workings of the music and can improvise in the styles (jazz, classical, baroque, romantic).

Music is such an important aspect that can be enjoyed by all ages. My approach to lessons is individual-based and flexible to your goals and needs. I believe that the enthusiasm, love, and enjoyment of playing music should never be lost, and it is my goal to maintain and cultivate your continued interest in music.
Learning piano should be a balanced skill. We will improve or learn piano techniques to help you play the pieces you've dreamed of, as well as hone ear sensitivity to sound and a creative imagination for bringing the music to life. As a concert pianist, there are definitely pianistic techniques and "hacks" I can share that will help in grasping both difficult musical and physical techniques.
With a Doctorate Degree in Piano Performance, my training included pedagogy classes and experience teaching all levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced, college professional) at all ages (from 4 to adult). Although I am a classical pianist, I am happy to work on popular songs, some ...

Because Alison is also an inspiring role model herself, she constantly challenges me to become a better pianist. Throughout my years as her student, not only has my piano skills immensely progressed on a technical level; but I have also learned how to better interpret the repertoires of different styles, and conveying those emotions through my playing.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

My 4-year old granddaughter (Anaya) totally enjoyed the first lesson. She couldn't stop talking about it with us on the way home, as well as with her parents, after she got home .
We are both looking forward to practicing the lessons learned during the session and doing the assigned home work. We are equally looking forward to the next class."

Ronda has taught both my kids piano from a young age through middle school. She is patient and kind but also challenges them to keep improving their skills. My kids have very different personalities and learning styles. Ronda tailored the lessons to their individual needs. Very pleased with her as a piano teacher!"
