Our first lesson was productive. I'm looking forward to learning!

My background and career have never placed importance on speaking and looking objectively at myself, I wanted to improve that ability. Toya has been very patient and down to earth with me, as raw as I am, in helping me. After a few lessons I already feel confidence growing and enjoy her instruction.

Confidence in acting is all about finding your own process, discovering the best things that work for YOU. Whether you have an audition you're working towards, a job you're preparing for, or you want to flex your acting muscle through new material, let's hash it out!

When I was cast as a supporting lead in an HBO show years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I came from a theatre background and had never been on a set before - I learned by watching and asking the actors around me who had been doing it for years. Now, after nearly a decade in this business, I've found some things that help me that can hopefully help you. This should be fun! Feel free to check out my IMDB page for a more detailed overview.

About Meg

I graduated from Northwestern University where I studied Acting and Music Theatre. I have spent nearly a decade working in theatre, TV, film, and commercials. Credits include: HBO's Boardwalk Empire, Peacock's Mr. Mercedes, NBC's Mysteries of Laura, ABC's Nashville, and FX's American Horror Story.

I have been teaching this subject in combination with singing. Many students forget what they are singing about because there is such an emphasis on technique. However, our ultimate goal as performers is to tell a story. One must react to the music or text as they are portraying a character in a story.

Ms. Valyncia was an amazing coach. She was very patient , very honest and very professional. She pushed me beyond my comfort zone and I was able to improve my breathing, improve my range and put some personality into my performance. That was a long time ago but I plan on booking her again as my coach. I highly recommend her ! You will definitely become a better singer / performer when working with her , as long as you put the work in.

"This guy really knows what he is doing. And I can't believe his price! David, you should really be charging more. A friend of mine just booked a job after using him and he was the one who hooked me up with this guys info. I have gone to many different coaches but never really hit it off with them but david made it super easy. I mean the man has won a damn emmy! He let me take some pictures with it. I now walk into casting rooms more confedent and for the very first time ended up testing for not one but two different pilots that he has coached me on. Can not recommend this man enough!"
