Keith is a wonderful drum teacher full of professional experience. He makes the learning very easy and full of fun. I am a 26 adult with almost no music experience. Keith taught me how to read musical notes as well as how to hold drum sticks. Playing drum with him and learning from him is a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!!

I had joined Keith just based on the star ratings here and now I think it is my time to give back to the community. It was not until a month after being his student that I read all the reviews below (I had taken a leap of faith). Until then, I didn't know that Keith has performed/ managed such famous bands. That's what defines Keith- a highly experienced performer, a great teacher, and a very down to earth and extremely humble person. I took some extra time getting used to the musical notes and holding the sticks. Keith was very patient with me and recognized exactly where I was lacking. His method of teaching is wonderful and very adaptive to students' needs. It is a delight to learn from him every week.

I'm an older student with no ambitions of making drums a career at this stage in my life. I just wanted to learn what I had been putting of for decades and become a respectable amateur. Keith starts with the fundamentals and mixes in a bit of "fun' now and again to keep things interesting. His experience is evident and he tailors the lessons to the student's skill level and goals which is important since no two students are alike. While not directly relevant to me, his industry experience and the stories he shares are fascinating and keeps the lessons interesting. There is more to music then just notes on a page. I highly recommend Keith to anyone who want to learn this wonderfully frustrating instrument.

Susan G.

Falls Church, VA

About Susan

I was a piano major at UNI and received a B.A. in English with a minor in music. I taught music for several years in Iowa and Pennsylvania. I have an M.A. in Reading, which has been invaluable in analyzing learning styles and teaching to each student's strengths. I have been teaching piano for over twenty five years and I'm also active in church music. *** Lesson Details *** I focus on learning the foundations of music as well as the technical skills needed to play piano. I gear the instruction towards finding patterns that make a piece more than a collection of notes and, thus, easier to learn. I've used various curriculum: Alfred, Bastien, Faber, etc. and try to supplement materials with music that is appealing to the individual student. I am very flexible with scheduling and try ...

Attentive Instructon

I am an adult student and have taken lessons in the past and am starting again. I have enjoyed the personal and attentive instruction given. Susan sits right by the piano and watches every movement. Teachers I have had in the past have not done this. She provides supplemental material that I need. She is always very friendly, kind, patient and has a great deal of professional knowledge. I would recommend her to anyone.

Confidently instills a love for piano!

I could not have asked for a better first piano teacher for my five year old! Miss Susan challenges Hailey just enough to keep her focused but not overwhelmed. Miss Susan has a calm, confident way of teaching that would put any child at ease and ready to learn! We are less than a month into lessons and Hailey will go to the piano at home, without any prompting, and play through her lesson book. The combination of a smart little girl and a good teacher have started a love for piano playing !

Geoff S.

Fairfax, VA

About Geoff

I played on a toy piano when I was very young, learning a bit of sight reading from my Mother, while listening to classical, jazz, and rock music. When I was 12, I learned guitar and later took private piano lessons from a prominent Philadelphia instructor. After playing in a rock band in high school, I went to college and received my degree in Physics. During this time, I joined a choir, and sang and played guitar in a contemporary vocal group where I became the lead guitarist and vocal arranger, and later became the director. I also played guitar in my church, as well as in a small folk group, performing music of the Beatles, Bacharach, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and many others. I also played or sung in a number of weddings during my college days. Upon graduation, I moved to ...

If you're interested in studying classical guitar you know that it is both difficult and important to find a quality guitar instruction. Look no further. Geoff is fantastic. His daily exercises for guitar have helped improve my technique dramatically. I'm so glad I found him and had an opportunity to work with him.

I am enjoying my lessons. You are being extra patient with me I suspect. My practices since our last have gone better I think. I think I am picking up things better. I practiced quite a lot today. Every commercial break in the football game as well as half time. See you in two weeks. Thanks

Miles H.

Falls Church, VA

About Miles

Miles was born in Bogota, Colombia, but raised in Annapolis, MD. Early in life, he began to take classical piano lessons, but after 9 years, guitar became his instrument of choice (though he still has a fond appreciation for the piano). He then went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. His time at Berklee has enabled Miles to play in venues all around the Boston/Cambridge area. He has been teaching around NOVA/DC for 3 years. Miles does his best to make lessons incorporate the music you enjoy listening to in conjunction with the necessary theory and technique to do so. Fun Fact: Two of his guitars are custom built by himself. He often provides students assistance in maintenance of their instrument. "Musical training is ...

I'm a beginning guitar student and have just started taking guitar lessons from Miles. He's very knowledgable, patient, and kind. I haven't quite made "friends" with those strings yet, but with Miles' help, I know I will.

Miles is fantastic!

Miles is great at working with my 11 year old on both what she wants to learn and what she needs to learn; he ensures the right balance of theory and contemporary music to keep her interested. We move a lot and have had other piano teachers over the last several years, but Miles is top notch. His calm demeanor and endless patience is much appreciated in this house! Hope he continues to teach my daughter for years to come.

Megan A.

Fairfax, VA

About Megan

I grew up on Long Island New York and am currently finishing up my music education degree at George Mason University. I have been playing flute for 13 years now and it's time I share my experience and love for music with others! To me, music is an outlet and it's important that my students fall in love with music while also learning about it. Music has always been a driving force in my life and one of the greatest things I've been involved in. I hope to give my students the same opportunities I have had and make music an important part of their lives as well. A typical lesson with me will be structured like this: Emphasis on basics (scales, studies, tuning, etc) Sight Reading and Ear Training Learning techniques through pieces I had a lot ...

Megan is an outstanding teacher. She is a flute player but has done a great job teaching introductory trumpet to my 6th grade daughter. Megan is always on time and keeps my daughter busy throughout the whole hour of her lesson - she does not fool around! And my daughter loves her and is engaged the whole time. Oh, and she's gotten up to speed on the trumpet (after two years on violin.)
I highly recommend Megan for lessons on any of the instruments she teaches.
