About David

After graduating from Salford University, England with a Bachelors degree (Honors) in Music and Composing I worked for a short time as a commercial "jingle" writer, before moving to San Diego, marrying my dream girl, and opening my own music recording, teaching and production studio. From there I have been teaching lessons, recording bands and writing music for independent film ad video games for the last 6 years. Throughout this time I've been continually performing live in venues all over California.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach both from a privately rented studio in Santee and from my home studio in La Mesa. Both are fully equipped for guitar, bass and drum lessons and even have recording facilities! In my lesson plans I try to combine theory and technique with practical application (that is, playing music and rocking out!).

A typical lesson begins with a warm up and review of last weeks' lesson, and then moves to a new concept or technique. Once this new idea is understood, we give it a practical application by using it a song the student is familiar with. We finish up by setting some homework and answering any questions the student my have.

My lessons are structured and goal orientated (I want my students playing songs they love as soon as possible to keep the inspiration and excitement going!) but I adapt each lesson plan to suit the student, accommodating different musical tastes and learning styles. Most important I keep the lessons fun and engaging - it's the best way to learn!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Fulling equipped, professional teaching studio.
Guitars, drums, amps, PAs, Pianos, Mandolins and much more!

*** Specialties ***
Very versatile both in preferred styles and my ability to adapt to students requests. Can cover anything from jazz to metal, or pop to blues, on guitar, bass or drums.

David is awesome!! He tailors lessons to fit your musical preference but also takes you out of your comfort zone to challenge you and help one build confidence...in three short lessons I've learned so much! Not just technically, but personally as well. Great teacher, fun sessions, highly recommend

From your first chord on up through playing solos (for electric players), including finger style essentials and the learning of great Country tunes to help develop your abilities, you can learn to play your favorite tunes. Whether you're just starting out or have been playing a while, there's always more to learn! That's the beauty of music.

About Geoff

I am a professional musician with a career spanning 40+ years (touring and studio work), and 30+ years teaching music, including college level classes.

What do you want to learn? How far you go is up to you!

*** Lesson Details ***
BEGINNING students start with the fundamentals, what you must know in order to begin playing songs, all the right ingredients to create a solid foundation. You will be encouraged to study and to venture into the unknown, using what you're learning as a springboard to discover new things.

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED players will be assessed on knowledge and abilities; areas of struggle and what is desired to be learned. Within a couple weeks, you will reap the benefits with new ideas bubbling to the surface moving you closer to your goals, with emphasis that short term goals are important as well.

Everyo

ne learns at a different pace. But with patience and persistence, if you do the work, there will be results that can be measured, and you will achieve success!

I also offer distance learning via Take Lessons video or Skype for Guitar and Bass lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Having played many styles over the years, I am able to play in most of the popular forms. All music is based on the same fundamental things. It's how they are used that defines a given style.

Country music and its execution utilizes some specific techniques and methods of playing that brings the country style to life. Each lesson is tailored to fit each individual student, covering specifically the country music genre. I have a blast teaching and my students have fun learning!

About Lola

I have more than 30 years of musical experience. I’ve taught guitar, piano, bass, and theater in private schools, art schools and I’m currently teaching at Classic Axe Guitar Gallery in Gainesville, VA. I’ve taught over 250 students in all levels of experience, tailoring each lesson to fit each student, covering all genres, so that learning their instrument is fun. It’s been exciting to see some of them become music majors, some of them become performers, and some using their skills and gifts to teach others. I love teaching and sharing my musical knowledge with people of ALL ages. I believe anyone can learn music, with the right approach and encouragement. Nothing gives me more pleasure than watching my students accomplish more than they ever dreamed possible.

I have been taking lessons with Frank for several years and I think he is an excellent instructor. He has helped me have confidence in my abilities and is patient when I get frustrated. He has been able to teach me about music theory in such a way that it is understandable. I have been to some of his performances and he is a talented musician as well as instructor.

Private Country Guitar Teacher

I'm a full time professional musician with twenty years experience in teaching private lessons. I teach five days a week through Music & Arts, the nation's largest music lesson provider, and perform regularly with the DC Transit Band, a professional nine-piece group that plays weddings and special events across the DC/Baltimore area. I have performed at notable local venues including the Kennedy Center, 9:30 Club, and the State Theatre. I specialize in contemporary styles of music, but also teach jazz and classical up to the intermediate level. I enjoy applying relevant aspects of music theory to my lessons so that my students not only understand where they're placing their fingers, but why! I teach all ages (youngest current student is 6, oldest is 82).

Country Guitar Reviews

Steven
"I have been taking guitar lessons with Ahmad Since 2011. Music has always been important to me and my lessons with Ahmad have been a continual source of i
nspiration and joy. I love Ahmad's musical philosophy and regardless of what I'm interested in he is always able to help me better myself. I continue to be very busy in my life but always find myself coming back to music. Through taking lessons with Ahmad I have been able to achieve many of my musical goals and know that if I keep practicing I will be able to achieve even more of my goals.

Ahmad is extremely talented, intelligent, and friendly and is always there to support me in whatever new musical concept I wish to learn next. He can help anyone looking to better themselves in a wide variety of areas regardless of the style of music you are interested in. I have been studying country and jazz with him primarily, as my goal is to be able to write my own music and put together a band some day. I have no intention of stopping music lessons with Ahmad as they continue to be something I look forward to every week. Anyone would be lucky to have such a great teacher."

"I've been working with Ahmad for a little more than 2 years. I'm one of those folks that had the intention to learn guitar for many years, but never got
over the hump. The Summer that I started taking lessons with Ahmad, it really took off for me. He's fantastically talented and skilled, but he makes it clear that his abilities came with a ton of work, and he gives you a system to get the best results out of your own practice time. He'll work with you on any song, and seems to have a taste for just about any genre of music (especially if its got some good guitar). He'll teach you some theory and get you to read music, but patiently diet this out while recognizing your excitement to learn songs (at least, this is what I'm putting him through, and I imagine others would to). He'll give you practical drills for learning scales, chords, rhythm, etc., and find ways to overlay them so you can start to stitch things together. "Putting it all together" is still a work in progress for me, but I've been pretty happy with the results over the past 2 years, and I've iteratively "ratcheted up" my expectations for where it can all go, heavily due to Ahmad's encouragement. I hope to keep getting lessons from him for a long time!"

"I've only taken 5 lessons with Jimmy, but I have already learned more than a lot of my friends who have been playing guitar for years! I'm really gratefu
l for all the help Jimmy has given me in such a short time!"

"Very excited about her lesson plan."

"I had the pleasure of having Adam instruct me the basics of acustic country guitar for a few months. By the end of the lesson , I was able to play three s
ongs from start to finish and was really happy about that! Adam is patient and skilled and I would definitely book him again for another session."
...
Oleg
"Playing the guitar has been on my bucket list for a long time and I finally started taking lessons. I am so happy my first try was with Ahmad. I have been
with Ahmad about a year and half, maybe more. Ahmad has so much knowledge and experience I get a really deep instruction from him, from chord formation and music theory and primarily practical practice learning my favorite songs.
Ahmad is relaxed and kind and that goes along way too."

"Greg is awesome! He teaches you the basics and will teach you the songs you WANT to learn! It was an awesome experience to learn for him!"
