I am a rock, metal, jazz, and pop player (a ton of genres - I know!) My claim to fame is precise musicianship and a steady ahdn for recording guitars. If you are a beginner, I will teach you the fundamentals of guitar, how to practice and how to grow quickly into a seasoned player.

For intermediate students, my focus is on cleaning up technique with drills and feedback, along with tips for songwriting, blending the guitar in with other instruments, and overall hand coordination.

About Benson

I am a guitarist, songwriter, composer, and artist hailing from Atlanta, GA. I have been teaching one-off lessons to friends and family for years, and have recently decided to take this gig in a bigger direction in Austin, TX. I currently play guitar for a metal band Ibex, as well as write my own

I've been teaching guitar for 5 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. There are many styles I'm comfortable teaching from folk (fingerpicking or flatpicking), rock, blues and funk and I would love working on developing a unique style of your own. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking and chord changes and even a few simple songs under your belt. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

About Ryan

Ryan is a musician from Logan Square who plays a plethora of different instruments. He specializes in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, but also dabbles in accordion, piano, drums, harmonica and several others. Adaptive Guitar Lessons!

Using the Chord Buddy attachment and a full-size acoustic guitar, my lessons teach individuals with physical sensitivities in their fingertips how to play the guitar. The Chord Buddy takes away the painful period of desensitization that usually accompanies starting to play the guitar. It also simplifies the finger positions. Each chord is given a button that can be comfortably pressed down by one finger. With the four chords on the Chord Buddy, you can play a wide variety of songs. Additionally, I can modify specific songs for the Chord Buddy if you want to learn a favorite song.

I am not specifically connected with the company that makes Chord Buddy. As a special education teacher, I realized its potential for my students with Autism. One of my students even learned a Taylor Swift song!

Please contact me with any questions :)

About Miss Aryiah

"You make lessons fun....

From age 6 until high school I took piano lessons. But guitar was always an unexplored desire. I started taking lessons with Steve a few weeks ago. From the very beginning he has been just so easy and comfortable to work with. He willingly adapts his style of coaching to my specific needs as a student, learner and musician. He's so strong in his fundamentals that I can pick the music and he builds lessons around my choices. Really makes me look forward to my own practicing and even more to my next lesson. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Steve, for bringing music back into my life."

"So I started out with Christian just knowing the basic chords after noodling around for the past few years. I knew I hit a point where I wasn't going to have the freedom to explore until I learned music theory and got the foundations down. I went in wanting to know the basics to be able to go into any genre at some point. Man I was not disappointed. He is supremely patient working with you at whatever level you're at. And you can tell he's truly passionate and cares as a teacher. For example, countless times we go over the 1 hour time window and he never rushes you out. He sticks with you until the lesson feels concluded naturally. Honestly its all you can ever want out of a teacher. Whether learning riffs from a song, or figuring out what key a song is in, or how to apply the scales at every level, he simply has you covered. I am extremely grateful to have been so lucky to have found him. He alone is one of those rare musicians where his ability, technique, and skill in the art form is matched in his ability to teach it."

Learn Guitar Now | How to Read Tabs

Although learning to read sheet music is a valuable skill for any musician, most guitarists prefer to use a different type of notation known as guitar tablature or guitar tabs. Guitar tabs give a basic visual representation of the neck of your guitar and use numbers to indicate which notes are to be played. Learning how to read tabs is pretty simple, and, once you get the hang of it, you can easily learn new songs or write down compositions of your own. How to Read Tabs Guitar tabs are …
