I introduce children and adults to the wonderful world of music through piano. I teach basic music theory and technique from the beginner lever to the intermediate level.

About Yvonne
We will work together to learn and understand the fundamentals of piano and violin technique and theory at you own pace. No pressure and stress-free instruction.

Along with learning to play an instrument, research shows that you may have improvements in memory, language skills, ability to store audio information, discipline, ability for being attentive and planning, day to day actions such as being alert, motor skills, hearing, emotional perception (pick out exactly what others are feeling just by the tone of their voices; empathy, disappointment, etc.)

Music has always been a part of my education since my elementary school years. I continued private training throughout college, as well as after. I have my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, as well as my Life Coaching certifi
cation from The Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching. And I am always continuing to develop my musical skills.

Our time together is more than just about learning an instrument; it's about life improvements and developing the self!

I will encourage you, cheer you on, and support you in the way you need support to achieve your goals in piano and violin!

*** Lesson Details ***
Our time together will be relaxed, laid back and casual. Student focused instruction.

We will work on the essentials of playing the piano - from correct posture to reading music!

After 3 months you will definitely have a good foundation in order to continue forward.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would expect my students to have a piano/keyboard and/or a violin with bow

*** Specialties ***
My primary instrument is the piano, beginning to intermediate. I also teach beginner to intermediate violin using the Suzuki method books.

While I teach music reading, as any other good teacher should do, for those students who are interested in learning to play by ear, I also concentrate on improvisation and playing from chord charts. Fun and effective, my approach will help you learn quickly and enjoy the process!

About Eric
For almost 25 years, I've had the privilege to have worked with thousands of performers who study with me from all over the world. I teach in-studio at my two locations in Houston and in The Woodlands, Texas. I also work with students who come to me from all over the globe via online over-the-web Skype lessons.

Originally from Detroit, I enjoyed being a "Jack of all styles" singer/musician for over 15 years. I was a professional musician performing Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Gospel, Musical Theater, Commercial and Studio work, along with being very involved in Contemporary Christian music. While I very much loved to perform, I found myself drawn much more to the joy of teaching. Vocal instruction and improvisational piano teaching eventually became my passion, and so I've poured my time and energies into teaching singers and players t
o become, well… better musicians!

I have been singing in Choirs and Bands for a number of years and learned more about my voice and singing properly in a 45 minute session with Eric than I have in all my years of performing. I now understand why I have been struggling to sing in my upper register and Eric has put together a personalized program to help me develop my voice and gain back my vocal range. Eric has a great sense of humor and made the session very enjoyable as well as informative. I look forward to my next session and would highly recommend Eric as an instructor.

I have had my own Piano Studio for both group piano classes and individual lessons with elementary age beginners, transfer students and adults. In the Public School settings, I have had access to keyboards to use as instruction in general music classes.

About Debbie
Having been a public school teacher, as well as a private and group piano instructor, I've observed how differently students "digest" information, and piano lessons are a great way to make use of different learning styles. I emphasize knowing HOW to practice before you leave so you'll be successful at home, and you are welcome to contact me with problems during the week so you don't lose a week in progressing with your lessons. I've had students send a video of a tricky section to ask for alternative fingering, and photos to clarify how they are reading something!! I also perform with an orchestra and want to feel proficient among my peers, so I really know how it feels to make a mistake in front of everyone. I am here to help you feel proud of your progress.
My primary teaching objective is to have fun as I assist you on this wonderf
ul journey into music!

*** Lesson Details ***
I truly have fun making and teaching music. We celebrate all successes. Even the overcoming of the smallest "hiccups"!
There are games to make my students secure with the many concepts of music reading. I encourage improvisation and ensemble playing. We can add rhythm tracks to "jazz" up our scales and finger builders. Students can accompany with chords or melodic harmonies. I assign exercises to build finger flexibility, strength, fluidity and independence; Pencil work to master theory and reading skills; Pieces that contain the ideas we are focused upon; and pieces to add to your repertoire.

*** Studio Equipment ***
At my Home Studio,You will be playing on my 5'1" Knabe grand piano! I also have electronic keyboards. On occasion you may find yourself playing on my marimba - a definite pitch percussion instrument - like a giant xylophone. We often rehearse our rhythms on my variety of world drums! There are chairs available for guests.
Also, I share my home with my pet cats - so if you are allergic, I'd be happy to consider coming to your home for your lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
An electronic keyboard with full-sized keys or a tuned piano must be available along with a proper height stool, bench or chair. A music stand for the books and good lighting is also needed. The family must agree that the 'lesson space' deserves to be quiet with no distractions. I can also bring one of my keyboards to use for duets, accompanying and improvising. Should there be another student (or potential student) in the home, they can use the extra keyboard with headphones for guided practice and creativity. Percussion students - primarily- mallets, would be better served at my home using my marimba. However, those who have bell kits could be taught in their home, with the possibility of using my marimba as an incentive.

*** Specialties ***
I am fortunate to have an extensive collection of piano method books and solos that I make available as part of my lending library. From it I can reinforce a concept or reward an accomplishment with an "oldie, but goodie" from John Thompson or Schaum, without having to charge the parents for another piece. For my beginning piano students of elementary school age, I have used the Robert Pace, Bastien, Faber & Faber and Schaum series. With adults, I invite them into the decision depending on what their experience is and what they would like to be able to perform one year from now. With transfer students, I have asked them to play their favorites from the lesson books they own, (and I ask them to evaluate their proficiency)- then we discuss where to go from there. Often it is positive to stay at the same level but use different literature so they can become comfortable with my style of explanations and expectations. This encourages a relationship where the student feels like they do know what they were taught and 'cements' those skills as a foundation for our moving forward together. I have a CD player handy for the books that include recorded tracks to go along with a learned piece.

I started taking piano lessons from Debbie three months ago. I have some previous experience as a violinist, but none with piano. With her guidance, I've gotten so much farther than I would have on my own! She's a professional music teacher, and it shows - she regularly gives me tips to improve musicality of a piece, or background on the composer. She's easygoing but always encourages you to try to go further. So glad to be learning from Debbie!

My lesson plans are designed to be musical and fun. I want my students to understand the language of the music by studying their favorite bands, reading music, and understanding the theory behind it. I have a strategy for everyone starting from beginner, intermediate, to advanced. I remember playing s piano for the first time and what a struggle it was to play my favorite songs. There is a method for achieving these goals and it is different for everyone. The one thing that will allow you to succeed is having a desire to learn and a passion for music. If you have those two things then I can direct you to the right path to achieve your musical goals!

About Steven
Steven E. is an American guitarist, pianist, singer, educator, producer, and song writer. Steve currently is a music director at CrossPoint Community Church. He also is a former member of Christian pop-rock group Press Play playing for thousands of people in Los Angeles, Ca. Steve holds a degree from one of the best contemporary music schools. At Musicians Institute he had an opportunity to study and play with some of the best teachers and students studying an eclectic array of musical styles. Learning from players such as Scott Henderson, Alan Hinds, Alex Machacek, Paul Gilbert, Chris Broderick, the list goes on.. During that time he produced several records. He also worked on projects for members of Melissa Ethridge as well as mixing projects for jazz virtuoso Marcus Singletary. Steve is also an educator giving music lessons for beginne

Steven has been working with my daughter in piano and singing. The first lesson he discussed with her what she'd like to achieve, and they set goals for them to work towards, which I love. My daughter really enjoy's working with Steven and practicing piano is no longer a chore for her. He's teaching style is a great fit for her, and in 4 weeks she's learned more from Steven than she has from other instructors we've had. I have no trouble recommending Steven.

I would like to say Steven was an amazing piano teacher for my 5 year old and he really was able to teach him a lot of the basics and some neat tunes. He is great with kids and with my child being 5 and needing a lot of patience it was really a breeze for Steven to teach and keep his attention during the lesson. He is definitely a natural at what he does! I am very satisfied with Steven and his style of teaching. He is a well deserved five star rating and I can not wait till my son gets to start guitar lessons with him in the future.

I am a young piano teacher with a passion for music and a love for the arts. I teach fundamental scales and muscle training. I believe that the first 3 years of learning piano are the most crucial and it is important to keep students interested for longer than a couple of months. Piano is not just for entertainment, but a vehicle to instil discipline and patience in all students. Not all of my students may want to pursue a career in music, and that is ok. I believe that music awakens a part of the brain that can be appreciated in all walks of life and in any career path.

About Ruben
I am a young energetic pianist, anxious to pass on my passion and love for music. I began my journey through the wonders of music at the age of seven. My first year as a piano student, I absolutely loathed it. I was frustrated and didn't understand the time and effort I had to put in to be able to play like the pros. However, thanks to an amazing teacher and proper guidance, I now love playing and teaching piano as well as guitar and voice. I continue to further my musical education in composition and theatre. I look forward to meeting you!

As a musician with twenty-three years of experience I take a classical approach to teaching voice and piano. I have been teaching privately for four years and enjoy teaching genres including contemporary, jazz, opera, and broadway.
I am a coloratura soprano with a BA in music from California State University Stanislaus. I have preformed with the Houston Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Townsend Opera Players, Modesto Symphony Chorus, and Northstar Community Opera. All of my singing students are taught that singing begins with proper breathing, good posture and a lack of tension. From there we discover what your unique voice sounds like and together we will shape it to into it’s optimal sound. My main approach in teaching voice is to cultivate vocal growth in a healthy way.
All piano students will learn basic music theory, how to read music and music composition. I use the Faber books, but I am always willing to adapt my teaching to my student's needs. When studying music, I find that ...

About Ally
I am a professional singer, actress and songwriter/composer. I have had the opportunity to perform with Northstar opera as Despina in Cosi Fan Tutti, Gianetta in The Elixir of Love, and Sara Brown in Guys and Dolls. I have also been fortunate in getting to play Margot in The Merry Widow, Pitti-Sing in The Mikado, and Spirit II in The Magic Flute with Townsend Opera. I sang with the Houston Symphony Orchestra Chorus for three years and Modesto Symphony Chorus for four year. I have enjoyed composing music for several local theater groups and enjoy writing my own music.

As someone who hasn't been very comfortable singing, Ally has been absolutely wonderful in getting me to be more comfortable with my range. She is very knowledgeable about quality techniques to not only not strain my voice but to have clarity and intonation. She is very patient, nice, but also a perfectionist, which is great because I do not want mediocrity.

She has prepared me for audition pieces and continues to follow up on each one to build my repertoire.

Highly recommend for any one who is seeking to be more comfortable with their voice or help with auditions.
