My philosophy behind teaching has a lot to do with being physically involved in music making. I believe one needs to use one's whole body to support good singing. I'm very much into using movements to help students learn to move their breath through to create sound. I teach classical vocal technique as the basis for all styles. I teach proper breath support in order to build a strong, healthy vocal sound. After months of working with me, students will have a very strong grasp of proper breathing for singing and how to support their sound with their whole body.

*** Studio Equipment ***
keyboard
music stands
free open space

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a portable piano keyboard

*** Specialties ***
Classical technique as a foundation for all singing.
Everything begins with breath
all singing is about connection--connecting to breath, to music, and to audience

Adrienne is an excellent voice teacher that I’d highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their singing voice or learn how to sing. I have a background in playing guitar and electronic music production but have always wanted to add singing to my musical skill set, and Adrienne has been very helpful in achieving my goals. She has a deep knowledge of the theory and technique of singing and does a great job explaining concepts that are often very abstract and difficult to grasp. She is always positive which helps boost my confidence in my voice, while at the same time she never allows me to sing lazily or with improper technique. In addition she is a fun person to work with and is always professional with scheduling lessons. With her help I’ve discovered a side of my voice I never knew I had!

Though I was only able to take lessons with Jason for a couple months due to an unexpected move, I was able to learn a lot from him. I came in with very little guitar experience and no background in music. His lessons are very accommodating and I felt I walked away a little bit better every time. Jason is a great guy and it is easy to share your goals and ideas for the future with him. When working with Jason it felt like a team effort in order to help me reach my goals. In the short time I took lessons with Jason I learned a lot about the guitar and I am excited to build upon the music career he helped me to start. A definite Recommendation.

Jason is a phenomenal instructor. As an older student who is not musically inclined and is just picking up the instrument seriously for the first time, I was apprehensive about taking lessons. Jason has made the process interesting, fun, and informative.

I have only been taking lessons for a few months and beyond learning songs, Jason has given me instruction on guitar maintenance (beyond the everyday care of the instrument) and music theory. I think his holistic approach to playing the guitar really sets him apart from other instructors. I always come away from each lesson feeling that I learned something new and valuable.

Jason really caters to the individual learning styles of his students. I travel often for work and he has found ways for me to continue to learn, even if I don't have my instrument with me. He is also tremendously knowledgeable and patient. If a certain style of learning doesn't seem to be sticking, he will find new and creative ways to teach until the idea resonates with the student.

I feel very fortunate to have found Jason as an instructor. I unreservedly give him the highest of recommendations.

The location is great (right by my house), his scheduling is flexible, online payment takes no time at all and perhaps best of all Jason is a great guy, very professional yet very personable and down to earth.

There is no doubt that Jason is a phenomenal guitarist. Very inspiring and encouraging. His guitar abilities are one of the best I have seen in person. Lessons are fun, interesting, and helpful. I have only been taking lessons for a little more than a couple months now, but I already see improvement.

It is great to take lessons with somebody who is both patient and encouraging at the same time. He is especially good at recognizing if the pace is getting too fast/slow and adjusting for that. I consider myself fortunate to have found such a good teacher.

Joshua L.

Glen Burnie, MD

About Joshua

I am an active musician in the Baltimore and Washington area working as a pianist, guitarist, producer, and composer. I am a music director at two churches and spend time gigging, writing, and teaching. I graduated from the university of the arts with a degree in music performance performing in different ensembles from Latin jazz to the school's production of "Porgy and Bess." I have been teaching students of all ages for 3 years now and love working with children. Not only will students learn to read music but will get a great sense of rhythm, balanced theory, and even songwriting for those i
nterested.

*** Lesson Details ***
Music is a universal language that I believe anyone can get a basic understanding for. I cater my lessons to the individual needs of the student. I am laid back during lessons but wont settle for less than excellent. My goal is to push students beyond what they think is possible of them and let them discover the potential that they have. I do this by usually teaching out of a lesson book and then allowing students to pick a supplement book or even just songs that they want to learn. This way lessons are fun yet the fundamentals are still being driven into their memory. In 6 months new students should have at least built up the confidence that's needed to be good musician.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students should have a piano of their own or their own guitar. Students have to be able to practice in order to get better. a casio keyboard with 61 keys is just fine too

*** Specialties ***
*Teachers classified as a Student Favorite have taught a minimum of 25
lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students.I produce and write hip hop, pop, rock music professionally. I went to college and studied jazz performance on piano for 4 years. this included classical as well. I also play gospel on keys and blues on guitar.

*** Lesson Details ***
Growing up, from ages 4-15, I was a student of the Suzuki Method on violin.  When I was in High School, I fell in love with the deep, rich sound of the Viola and decided to make it my primary instrument. I have great love for both instruments still, and I enjoy sharing my passion with my students.  I have experience teaching both the violin and viola to students from ages 3-65. As a teacher, I have multiple goals:
1. I want my students to love music and their instrument
2. I want my students to develop their own musical voice. My goal with teaching is to help students use their unique musical voice to form lasting and meaningful connections with their audiences and the people around them.
3. Making great musicians is awesome, but I'm also out to help make great people! As Pablo Casals said, "I am a human first, a musician second." I have worked hard to get where I am today, and I want to make sure my students have the best environment in which to learn.

Some benefits of studying with me are:
I am fun and supportive. I'm having just as much fun teaching as I want my students to have learning, and creating a patient, supportive environment is integral to my students' development.
I teach all ages and abilities. I am experienced in a variety of teaching levels, from beginning to advanced studies. Each student has lessons structured according to their individual goals, learning speeds, and musical levels.
I teach students of all levels positive playing habits and how to avoid bad habits, and I teach these using the standard classical repertoire for violin and viola.
I emphasize technique and the fundamentals of music theory, especially with beginning students, so students have the essential building blocks and tools they need to succeed.
I am professional. I have received some of the best education in my field, and with 20 years of experience in music  I am confident in my ability to pass on the skills necessary to succeed as a musician.

*** Specialties ***
Having myself been taught on Suzuki method, I frequently use their method books in my private instruction. I specialize in teaching music in the classical style with emphasis on technique and musicality.

Anna is very good at explaining terms and methods in a way that can be easily understood by a novice such as myself by catering to one's style of learning while at the same time ensuring that the student remain grounded on the fundamentals whether it is in the finger positioning, bowing strokes, or proper posture. I love how she is able not only to identify things that I might be doing wrong but also solutions to difficulties that I might be having during the lessons. As a result, I am very happy at how I have progressed in my skill level since I started a couple of months ago. She is very patient, listens to concerns of the student, very easy to talk to, and has a laid back learning environment. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know who might be interested in learning the violin, whether young or old like myself.

My 10 year old daughter has been taking singing lessons from Robert for 4 months. Her singing voice has improved immensely as well as her confidence in her own voice. She has thoroughly enjoyed each lesson with Robert and always comments on how quickly the lesson time passes by. She also talks about how much she has learned from him.
Overall we have both been thrilled with the experience of taking lessons from Robert.

Patient, kind and effective teacher

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Robert! We've worked together for over a year and I can say my voice has improved as well as secondary benefits like my breathing. What I love about Robert is how he teaches, he helps my confidence, courage and faith in my abilities. In my work I use my voice everyday, often I am speaking in front of a large crowd. The lessons have really helped with speech, volume and enunciation. BTW I do all my lesson with Skype, which I believe is a great way to do it.
