We all know that music is incredibly powerful, especially when we are the ones creating it. With the right therapist, music therapy can be right for anyone, regardless of age, ability, or diagnosis. When you learn music through the therapeutic lens, all the different aspects of your Self are considered: psychological, emotional, spiritual, physical, and more. Music therapy must be conducted by a board certified music therapist who knows how to create a safe and nourishing space, and how to work with the difficult “stuff” that might come up. I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Music Performance); I am a Life Coach with 7+ years experience; certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional writer and editor (Bachelor’s in creative writing). I am also a Crisis Text Line Counselor.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism spectrum disorder, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances and developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I am a professional vocalist in NYC. I perform liturgical and classical music, as well as musical theater repertoire. I participate in professional operas, choral groups and other concert series, as well as professional theater work.

Performing gives me a sense of bliss and completeness that is indescribable.

As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout NYC. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I went on to complete advanced trainings and now specialize in restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, yin yoga and therapeutics.

It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

In Life Coaching sessions, we will explore everything about you, holistically. We will speak about triggers, trauma, and past wounding, and how these may be affecting you. We will work together to elevate your life through the use of talk therapy, embodiment practices, somatic safety, breath practices, shadow work, meditation, yoga, creative writing, journaling, energy work and Reiki, music, ecstatic dance, and more.

I offer all my sessions virtually, and it has been so beautiful being able to connect with people from all over the world.

I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn how to open up and knuckle down at the same time!

I am currently a full-time YouTube Creator, sidelining in cover bands and a solo act. Teaching is a big part of what I do online so I see my work as a private teacher as 'research' for the lessons I create. Although I'm firmly grounded in a classical music training, there's nothing you can ask about that I won't try to figure out. My favorite thing about teaching is using unexpected questions to develop new ideas that I then integrate into my original compositions. I am a Harpist, Voice teacher, Therapeutic Musician, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Vocalist who has over 23 years of experience as a classical vocalist and performer. By 8 years old, I began training as an opera singer and have  merged my love of classical vocals with the therapeutic harp. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Diego State University, with my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and am currently in my graduate program at Chaminade University of Honolulu studying to obtain my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology. Hello my Friends!  

I am an internationally respected concert pianist and composer who comes from a family of renowned musicians.  I earned my Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees from the Julliard School in its top 1% of all performers.  My Doctorate of Music work took me from University of Michigan to the University of Southern California.  However, I also traveled much in my lifetime to study with other historic and remarkable musicians around the world.  This gave me the unique opportunity to be the fifth generation in a direct line of students to Ludwig Van Beethoven.  Some of my illustrious teachers were proteges of Josef Hofmann, Felix Blumenfeld (teacher of Vladimir Horowitz), D'Albert and Bussoni, Anton Rubinstein, and Franz Liszt.

It is marvelous to be able to find each other now online!   You no longer have to spend years and hundreds of thousands of dollars on commitments of travel  and expense for world-class education.   I am glad to pass this precious knowledge to all who wish to learn and continue to keep it alive in the world!

Many of my students continue our great legacy on the most prestigious stages of the world including the Met, LaScala and Carnegie Hall.  All students, no matter their initial goal, continue to love and deeply understand music for their entire lives.  

Each lesson you take will feel informal and yet efficient in its momentum.  Each person gets their own best shortcuts to their most effective technique and the most profound understanding of interpretive arts in the world of music. I have won and judged competitions including International Competitions for which I can prepare students. 

I teach and advise on instrument selection and upkeep, sound recording, music appreciation, conducting, composition, chamber music and many other subjects for fully well rounded musical education.  (Take a look at all the fields I teach!)  I have worked with special needs students and lectured the faculty of many schools including Al Sigl Center.  I taught at the Eastman and Juilliard Schools of Music, University of Michigan and at the University of Southern California.   Over the years, I have given Master Classes and lectures at numerous universities and schools around the world.  

My international writing is published by Carrol Publishing House in UK and other publications in the United States.  My editing and peer review at Oxford University is published by Frontier scientific publication and my practice of personal performance system presented at the Harvard University. My concert performances as well as my teaching is historically archived at the University of Michigan as well as at Sibley Music Library at the Eastman School of Music and University of Rochester.  It is preserved there for future generations.  

I invite new students to my family of students internationally and locally and welcome students of all levels and ages from around the world.  I really enjoy meeting musicians from different cultures and countries.   I am fluent in several languages but all we need to communicate is music.

Not really a great experience. The instructor just turned on youtube and made me do Karaoke. I couldn't even hear my voice because the youtube was louder than me. The next lesson I was hoping he had acoustic instruments of some sort to sing over as he promised, nope. Back to Youtube and turning it up loud while I sang which I couldn't hear my voice.  I just wanted to work on the vocals but all we did was youtube. I quickly cancel and got out of dodge. 

I have been practising piano with Matt for over 4 months now and I can vouch for the fact that he is an excellent teacher. QUALIFICATIONS:
MUSIC AND EDUCATION:
I am a board certified music therapist, certified play therapist, and mental health counselor. Music has always been a part of my life and teaching music is something I've consistently enjoyed throughout my career journey. 

I have been musically involved my whole life, gaining experience from many avenues including band, private lessons, choirs, performance, and musical gigs. I taught music theory and ear training at an after school music and arts business for 1.5 years and have been leading flute sectionals and teaching privately since 2015. In this time I've worked with a variety of students ranging from 4 to 60 years old. 

MUSIC THERAPY:
As a music therapist I am required to be proficient on my main instrument (flute) plus on guitar and piano. I am also required as a music therapist and mental health counselor to be proficient in the creation and implementation of goals and objectives, people skills, and to have an empathetic, understanding, and positive approach in all I do. I believe these skills contribute greatly to the effectiveness of my teaching. I am also qualified and willing to teach adaptive lessons for students with all types of disabilities. This includes mental and physical.
 
I have interest and experience in working with children and adults who experience chronic pain, parkinsons, autism, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, etc. I am open to teaching adaptive lessons but do also offer Music Therapy services to address specific challenges more in depth. MENTAL HEALTH:
I currently hold my MA in Mental Health Counseling and have been a mental health counselor since January 2020. Prior to this I have worked in a variety of mental health settings including in home, in office, schools, and behavioral hospitals.


TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
I taught music theory for 1.5 years and have been teaching private music lessons since 2015. I have been a certified substitute teacher for elementary through high school and have taught flute sectionals at local middle schools and high schools. I have also been a teachers aide in two kindergarten classrooms. This job required me to teach students individually and in small groups. I also provided music groups with the kindergarteners once a week. Prior to this I was a regular dividend in a kindergarten classroom and have volunteered often in an elementary art classroom. 


TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
The fact that you can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make life beautiful. I strongly believe music is meant to improve your quality of life, not add more stress or another thing to check off your to do list. 

My teaching style is organized yet laid-back. I am flexible, open, and positive in my approach. I am understanding of busy schedules but do emphasize the importance of consistent weekly lessons if you decide to make the commitment. 

I have access to lesson books/textbooks and can make suggestions for you based on your needs and desires. If you are a beginning piano student you will need to purchase your own book. (It's about $6.00 on Amazon.)
Our first lessons will be based around assessing your strengths and weaknesses. From there I will create a schedule customized to your specific needs. Your input is important to me as I am always willing to be flexible based on your personal needs and preferences.

Learning music is FUN so I will make sure you are enjoying the lessons as well as getting the most out of them that you can!

PRICING & SCHEDULING INFO:
Flute, piano, guitar, and ukulele lessons are $25/30 minutes. 
Music Therapy sessions are $40/30 mins, $80/one hour.

The stories and music are documented and given to client for potential future use.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, at the age of 9, Natalie knew music was something that was just a part of who she was.  Writing songs on the piano before lessons could be scheduled, Natalie found herself immersed in a medium that would bring her joy for the rest of her life.   

By age 14 Natalie had won several trophies competing in Classical piano with the Illinois Music Association.  

As an adult, she would go on to fill her life with the world of music as a singer, songwriter, performer and recording artist.

Graduating from Elmhurst College (1997)  with a Bachelor's in Music, Natalie received high accolades earning a membership in the Lambda Sigma Psi Music Honor Society.

During her college years, Natalie created and owned a local music publication called, "The Local Buzz".   At this moment she had discovered her desire to teach.  "I just wanted everyone I knew in music  to know and use what I was learning, or had learned from the music classes, professionals I had been meeting and working with, and my overall music life experiences".   By 1997, Natalie was signed to an independent label and embarked on a new adventure.

Violin- I teach Suzuki Method and Essential Elements (to students age 5 and up.  I also teach intermediate and early advanced classical styles.

Voice- I offer Music Theater Vocal training, audition prep, acting in song, monologue coaching, preparation for high school and college auditions, contemporary and pop singing styles.

Music Theory-Beginners through AP Music Theory class level, keyboard skills are also taught in conjunction with music theory instruction.
