It was an amazing first singing lesson!! Udell is an excellent teacher. I can't wait for the next lesson. I learned so much in one lesson it was unbelievable. It is going to be a journey that I look forward to. I believe in time I will reach my goal of being able to sing Praises "in tune" for the Lord.

I've been teaching piano privately and in group settings for eight years. I strive to create a fun and exciting environment to fit each student's learning style and goals. In my home studio I have an upright piano as well as an 88 key weighted keyboard.
I enjoy using technology in my lessons and believe it is a great way to keep students excited. In addition to using the Faber Piano Adventures and Bastien methods, I use a few mobile applications on my tablet to assist in the learning of rhythm and note reading.

About Scott
I've been teaching music lessons now for over 10 years. I have been singing, playing the guitar, and playing piano since I was 7 years old. I went to Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey to study Sacred Music. While there I had the distinct honor of performing Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem with the New York Philharmonic, The Dresden Philharmonic and the New Jersey Symphony at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center NY, New York as well as the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Throughout my time there I also developed my piano proficiency through rigorous ear training and through the learning of theoretical concepts in music.

I then went on to work with Mid-America Productions and the New England Symphonic Ensemble. Through this opportunity I have now sung over a dozen performances of vario
us classical choral masterworks at Carnegie Hall in New York City! "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice, Practice!"

I've been playing guitar in various bands since a very young age and have recently begun work on my first solo studio album. I am the guitarist in the band Tonight Theater. The styles I enjoy include (but are not limited to) Rock, Jazz, Classical, Reggae, Punk, Progressive Rock, Metal, Experimental, Avant Garde, Pop, Funk, Blues, and Jam. I can assist you with chords, scales, rhythm, improvisation, sight reading and rocking! I can also sing in nearly any style and can help you to do the same.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons will guide you in becoming a well rounded and proficient musician. I strive to ensure your development of healthy technique and encourage you to practice consistently. My biggest commitment as your music teacher is to your steady forward progress. My lessons are specifically designed to solidify your comprehension and to enable your application of the skills being learned. Your music lessons will typically follow this format:

*Tuning of the instrument (if applicable).
*Ear Training: exercises and techniques to develop your listening and aural skills.
*Review of current assignments, techniques, and music theory concepts.
*Introduction of new concepts, techniques, and exercises.
*Work on current repertoire assignments. Songs are chosen by the student and the teacher and are level/age appropriate.
*Final thoughts on the day's lesson and a quick review of key concepts covered.

I look forward to helping you reach your dreams! No goal is too lofty! :)

*** Studio Equipment ***
There is a living room for parents to wait during the lesson if they'd like. My studio contains amplifiers, an upright grand piano, multiple acoustic and electric guitars, some computer recording equipment, and seating for parents to sit in on the lesson if they'd prefer.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Small Tube Amplifier, Music Stand, Tuner, Picks, Teaching Materials.

*** Specialties ***
I pride myself on my distinct ability as a rock guitar improvisor. Improvisation is at the core of my live performance. If you want to hear a song played the same way over and over again, listen to a recording. Live performance, to me, is about constantly providing new life and breath to the material being played. Each distinct performance captures unique attributes only available for channeling at that one moment and it will never be recreated.

I tailor each learning experience to fit the student, finding the styles and pieces that turn apathy into interest, without forsaking a solid musical foundation. I also incorporate the importance of awareness of one’s physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing at the piano during lessons. I believe that it is essential for students to know how to play in a way that promotes free movement, preventing short-term and long-term injury.

About Andrea
Andrea’s passion for teaching is evident in her care for the individual student. She realizes the importance of allowing her students to manifest their own creativity, and she takes pleasure in witnessing the blossoming of music within their souls. I have years of experience in teaching music, and I enjoy working with people! While an undergraduate at Bowling Green, I received the Lakofsky Piano Award. Although I have used a number of piano books and methods, I am currently using the Faber series with some additional materials of my own. My students have had great experiences at OMEA contests and other performances. I understand that each student is different and am accustomed to personalizing my instruction to meet each student's needs.

About Gretchen
I am Gretchen Weaver, and I began playing piano when I was 8 years old. I also play a number of wind and percussion instruments. I have 2 college degrees and have taught elementary, middle school, high school, and college bands and classes as well as piano lessons for 26+ years. I have had students perform very well at OMEA Solo & Ensemble Contests and have served as an accompanist on many occasions. I enjoy working with students of all ages very much and wish to concentrate on piano teaching at this point in my career!
