Singing for the fun of it!
Have you always wanted to sing but somehow an inner voice said "But you cannot sing"? Well, it's time to challenge that inner voice because it's never too late. Taking a voice lesson is a great tool to break through those invisible barriers and to discover one's voice. Singing for fun is a valid reason to take voice lessons, it would help make singing more enjoyable!
We will cover how to warm-up the voice as well as the mind and the body. You will learn body stretches to get the body ready for singing, proper breathing and support for singing, and of course, you'll learn to sing songs that you want to sing.
A little about me, I have always loved singing but I did not take voice lessons until my late 30's and it changed my life. So I know a thing or two about learning to sing later in life, it can be daunting but it is oh so rewarding! In 2011, I started gigging in San Francisco where I lived for the last 14 years. I am now back living in New York and I'd
I am a singer, pianist, and songwriter. I sing an eclectic repertoire from Jazz, Great American Songbook, Bossa Nova Songbook, World Music, Contemporary Music, and any song that calls to me as a singer. I started my voice lessons in my mid 30s and it has been a life-changing event. I started perfor

Bachelor's in Music, Guitar Performance from Hunter College

Classical guitar in a variety of modern styles is my specialty, though I have experience in repertoire from the Renaissance and onward. I put a lot of importance in tone and dynamic production, as well as conventional technique, in order to coax out every little bit of potential the instrument has in the hands of a capable musician. Welcoming beginner through advanced students.

I believe that every good singer should be able to communicate well with their fellow musicians. Having a strong ear and the knowledge to be able to recognize what others are playing can really set a singer apart! I incorporate ear training into each voice lesson, striving to make each student the most well-rounded musician they can be.

BA in Music with a Performance Concentration from Hunter College

Hi there, I'm Dan. I've been playing guitar as my main instrument for 16 years, as well as Bass, Ukulele, Piano, and Vocals. Music is my passion, and I cannot imagine a better way of devoting my time than spreading the gift of this amazing craft.
I've been giving one-on-one musical instruction since 2012, beginning at the Oceanside School of Music and then transitioning to private lessons. I pride myself on the ability to cater each lesson to every student's individual needs, tastes, and goals. Someone once told me, "the goal of the teacher is to make themselves obsolete," and I couldn't agree more. Whether you've never picked up a guitar before or want to perfect your already advanced technique, I'll be here to make sure you achieve your goals and have fun learning.
I am a working performer, singer-songwriter, and guitar player. I currently am the songwriter and frontman of a regularly gigging band and have been leading this project since 2014. I have years of extensive jazz and music theory training on guitar and bass. Hi there, I'm Dan and I hope to

I have been taking weekly lessons with Liza for over a year and would highly recommend her. I looked for a vocal coach after my first club gig as a front-woman for a rock band. Apparently I was not using my voice correctly as I was extremely hoarse following the performance. Liza taught me how to breath, stand & 'place' my voice (be aware of all of the muscles that create one's speaking & singing voice). Using her methodology, I am able to get through a full set without any vocal strain. She is a good communicator and a pleasure to work with. Thanks Liza!"
Kenneth is very patient and supportive with my six year old grandson. During the first lesson before any instruction began, Kenneth assessed my grandson's skill level and ability to focus. Lessons begin promptly and end on time. Kenneth was very helpful in finding a reasonably priced keyboard so that my grandson can practice. My grandson enjoys lessons with Kenneth and thinks his studio is a "cool" place.
Kenneth uses non-traditional and more interesting methods of teaching piano which appeal to children. He encourages my grandson to practice his lessons and afterwards, spend time experimenting on the keyboard.
Kenneth and Wendy are very professional and personable."
Are you trying to learn a song on ukulele but can only find guitar chords? I’ve played guitar all my life and have a collection of Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls. For my birthday a few years ago, my girlfriend bought me an electric Les Paul-style ukulele. I’d never played a uke before -- ever. I had to go online to even find out how to tune the thing! Undaunted, I discovered the standard tuning is from the top string G – C – E – A. The G string is thinner than the C string, sort …
